Do you lose weight at night?

I routinely weigh 3 pounds less in the morning than I did at night. I do not get up to use the bathroom or anything. Where did the weight go.

Yes, though certainly not 3 lb. of tissue (each pound of fat in your body contains roughly 3.5 kCal / energy). Generally, one's metabolism is slightly higher during sleep than sedentary waking even, and part of "morning breath" is the smell of ketosis products. You should also expect to lose water weight via perspiration and water vapor expelled via respiration.

As a long term dieter, I long ago learned the best time to weigh-in is first thing in the morning, after urinating and before consuming any food/liquid...The worst time is late at night...

I'm always dehydrated in the morning. I look more skinny and less plush. Think about the average sleep time... 8-9 hours. If you were awake during that time you would surely eat and drink, but during sleep that doesn't happen.

Cool, I didn't know that.

that makes a lot of sense foreigner, although I don't feel hungry in mornings when I wake up. My appetite builds up around afternoons or evenings
