I used to smoke all day long, so I did everything high. You get used to it just like people get used to taking their meds and performing everyday tasks. My tolerance was so high (smoking all day at work, home etc - go through an ounce in a week) that being high made me feel calm. Nowadays, my tolerance is low cause I can't afford to smoke all day..so I drive sober. I never drink if I know I have to drive...did it once and ended up running into a brick wall. Lucky no one was around me. Have tripped acid countless times. Drove home late after I'd dosed with a hit..into about the 8-hour mark. I was basically sober. I just had more energy and slightly better focus than usual. When I was on Xanax (it was my script) I would take more risks while driving. When I think back to some of those times when I'd get to work and not remember how I got there it kinda makes me feel lucky I never got into any fenderbenders or got tickets.

Just this last Friday, my buddy and I were heading home from the club. He had drank a 6-pack and I was rolling hardcore. He drove really well. Then it happened. He decided to run the red-light. It was 4am and there were no cars in sight. Then, about 20 feet in front of us there's a cop hiding out in a gas station parking lot with his lights off...here we go...sirens go on, pulls us over. I think we're f-ed. The cop is calm and cool. He points to me and says "who's that?". My eyes are like saucers at this point. Anyway, I'm sure he what we were up to at 4am on a Friday...but all my buddy got was a ticket, and after that even got it removed from his record (rad to have connects like that).

I think I've been pretty lucky, but I know a lot of people drive drunk and for some reason that is seen as not as bad as being high on some illicit drug. Oh well, 'tis society for ya. ;)

Here is my issue... people will say it's okay to drive on their drug of choice and then turn around and slam on a different drug when someone is at the same level of intoxication.

Here is the thing people don't understand.. if you say someone can drive or function on one drug but not another, you're full of shit. You can function on one drug and not another... if you want to argue with this concept, google "State Dependent Learning".

Driving while on substances is fucking bullshit, not only can you hurt yourself, you could hurt someone else..

Which drug it is does matter, since everyone is affected differently by different substances. I drive fine if not better on mj, but that could be because it calms me down. I have anxiety and driving sober is a stressful experience. Now, for someone else..maybe mj makes them foggy-headed or anxious and they can't focus on anything..then another person can drive fine after 3 beers and another is swerving all over the place after 1. There are a lot of factors involved. Main thing is, plan things out..and if you know you're f-ed up, don't f-ing drive.

i have yet to drive high on weed (no license), but i love being driven around when I'm high, so i imagine i would like to be behind the steering wheel.....actually i bet i would love it

Unfortunately I used to drive on meth all the time as I was always on it. If I didn't I'd never get anywhere. First day of being awake is probably not a problem but not a good idea .. any longer than that & you're heading into a fuzzy area. I really don't advise it, driving in psychosis thinking invisible cops are after you ain't fun, not to mention 'shadow cars' and constantly looking behind you. I've driven drunk a few times which I am not proud of, but I'd always wake up not remembering how I got home.. scary shit. I feel bad knowing I easily could have killed someone or myself, never again. Driving under drugs or alcohol is a bad idea guise, even just weed, seriously take some time out to think about it. You might think you're driving fine - but chances are you probably aren't. It isn't a game. There are others lives @ risk, not just yours, it's selfish.

I'm not saying some people can't do it, hence why I mentioned State Dependent Learning, some people learned how to drive (in this case) while on a drug, making them not knowing how to do that function sober... so they are better on that substance. But I still don't agree with driving personally. I like your last sentence a lot :-D

I answered sometimes because I try to stay away from driving when I'm drunk or tripping. When it's just some weed or a few pills I drive and have no problem doing so.

I don't drive if I'm not able to.

I can usually drive pretty good with a few oxys and cheifing. I don't like drinking and driving though and I wont drive if I'm to intoxicated on what ever drug

Does drunk count? I started off soberish, and then drank as we drove...and was drunk by the time we got there I'm pretty damn sure. My bf is a bad influence, but I don't see why he gets to drink in my car when he feels bad when I feel bad too and just get to suffer. Although drunk driving is stupid, I won't argue that is reckless but at least in Iowa there are a LOT of back gravel roads to help you stay out of trouble. Doesn't make it any safer though...

So way earlier in this thread I swore to never drive again. I did so to repent and punish myself for tons of intoxicated driving (lots and lots of drunk driving especially).

Uh. And I actually have never driven since then. It's been like a year. I think driving intoxicated on anything is bad and evil. I've still done a lot of drugs and drinking in a car with the driver, though. People keep saying I'm weird, and writing it down... I guess it is.

But I can say that I don't drive while high! I think it puts me ahead on the karma train a little bit.

I avoid driving drunk, on alot of benzos, or on shrooms... drive on everything else mostly tho driving nodded out been causing me some trouble I gotta stop that too..

I don't have much of a problem driving when I'm stoned. I actually obey a lot more traffic laws when I'm high then when I'm sober. I think I'm a much safer driver when I'm stoned but sometimes I do end up driving pretty slow.

under the influence of opiates and any other pills im good to go.
after smoking weed or drinking.. hell no

I voted usually, on stimulants. I know all tweakers probably say this, but on low to moderate doses, I actually seem to drive better on stimulants than I do sober. But I also know my limits... I wouldn't dare try to drive if I'd been on a 3 day meth binge with no sleep!

personally i lost my nephew to some drunk scallies mowing the wee lad down. this was well in the sticks too. or you may well just stack it and kill your mates who are riding with you. I suggest NOT driving drunk.
drink has to be the worst thing to drive on.
at least if your really stoned it's terrifying to do more than about 20mph and you keep stopping at corner stops for cookies and ice cream.

Id only drive intoxicated if someones life depended on it. I think it can be justified if you have to get someone to the hospital right away and an ambulance is not an option.

Then again, it depends on the drug really. I think theres a big difference between driving on ephedrine or a bump of speed than driving drunk or on some sedative/psychedelic.

i've driven high on weed countless times, and have heard that i drive better when I do so....my one friend even made a joke saying that I should smoke a joint before I drive everytime, LOL. But i'm completely against driving high....they say I drive much better, but I really don't care......I'm freaking out the ENTIRE time I drive thinking every cop is a cop car and constantly thinking i'm going to be pulled over an getting a DUI.

I've drivin rolling once, not that bad....but of course the one time i drive rolling is after I left a party and a cop was following me....and it was obvious he was because i had to follow my brother because he had been drinking and didn't want him to get pulled over and his dumbass turned into an alley/culdesac and the cop followed....but than my brother turned one way and I knew he'd for sure pull me over if i followed him so I turned the other way and the cop followed me and followed me for like 5 mins.

I don't really mind driving on opiates/benzos......unless I'm nodding out or way too fucked up. And I've only drove drunk 2 times....I normally don't like driving even after 1 beer for fear of the breathalyzer.

Oh, and it doesn't really help that I'm the only one of my friends who can drive because they're all too damn lazy or something to go out and get their own damn license even though it's been well over 2 years since they turned 16 -.- I'm pretty sure they just won't get it because I'm always the driver so they see no point in getting it.
