Do different pills really have different effects?

So since entering the 'MDMA-scene' I have heard many people talk about all the different pills they tried and what they were like. On pillreports for example, many people state some pills containing MDMA being 'the best pill ever' and others being slightly more 'average'.

Obviously I know that pills that contain bunk will not be as good as pills that contain clean MDMA. However, I also see many people comparing different pills to one another even though all of them contain roughly the same amount of MDMA and nothing else. Isn't this completely useless? All pills contain the same compound: MDMA. Therefore the difference in experience will depend on setting/amount ingested/people you're with/time since last roll and not on the pill itself. It's basically like saying 'I get way more drunk when drinking whiskey than when I drink vodka'.

Am I right to assume that any topics discussing which clean MDMA pill is best are completely useless or is there really a difference between pills that cannot be explained?

I basically asked this exact same question in the 90s vs 2013 pills thread. Confuses me too.

Very interested to hear some answers!

Some argue this is down to the quality/synth of the MDMA in the pill. Whilst i have experienced slightly different effects on a Mortal Kombat pill compared to a Green Android for example, I would say alot of it is to do with your environment.

The MKs got tested for trace levels of PMMA...

I know. The amount was so small though (0.8mg), I doubt it would of had any significant dangerous effect (I survived, although I got the first batch, and I read somewhere that there was a PMMA and a non-PMMA batch).

I don't understand this personally. An MDMA molecule is an MDMA molecule, surely?

Defqons, MKs, Androids, all tested as unadulterated but everone says they are different.

Two identical pills may have different effects, depending on who takes them, when, where, and why.
