Do cops actually plant drugs on people?

a i kmow, a family friend told me that if the person looks like a drug user that he'd put drug in their car

I have seen documentaries telling how soldiers were told to carry shovels and AK-47s, and if they accidentally killed somebody, to plant evidence.

Why would people assume its any different in our police than it is in our military?

i had not been smoking weed for close to a year once while on probation-
when two cars pulls me over at 1-2am. after i give permission to search, because i just wanted to get to a friends and had no worries, they have me stand aside, the two of them get all close and chat quietly, then im arrested for possession of marijuana, an OZ..???

the charge stuck, but the State-Prosecutor lightened the penalties by 85% in comparison - her decision was stunning, like 2 months probation rather the 2.5 years, i think 80 hours community service rather then a $1500 fines etc.
i think she knew what was going on...

it happens, especially if you have a record and like to talk shit, or sit silently.

Oh it happens alright. The town I live in now, maybe not so much. But, I used to live in the Antelope Valley, CA. On the outskirts of L.A. Fuckin place is crawling with cops. They are on every corner. And there is some cops among them doin dirt, fuckin rookies poppin up like cock roaches(sp) tryin to be bad ass. Well, I was homeless out there for a year and I done seen some thang.

I have ran in to the cool cops just as much as the dirty ones. But cops out there tend to do this drug planting technique a bit in excess. There was this one rookie, a total BADASS. Dude was about 6'7'' had a jaw like microwave and a torso like a fridge. The man resembled a Greek God. Must have had more tang in one week than I will ever see in this lifetime. But he was a D-I-C-K!!! He loved to plant rocks in peoples pockets. He did it to a few friends of mine in front of me. Threatened to put a rock in my pocket (more like a brick. shit was HUGE. like a 2 ounce rock) had it just waiting in his pocket, and he whipped it out. Said if I didn't get the fuck out of that neighborhood, he would put it "On my Person"

Sometimes when someone wouldnt be around, somebody would say, "Hey, wheres Junebug? or wheres Sketch?" And you would hear the name "Deputy Maxwell" (not the cops real name) and everyone would say "ohhhhhh he got crack planted on him again"

I fuckin hated the A.V. place is cursed. The cops there are on a different level than anywhere else I have been.

^^Delta 9, I hope I aint rememberin wrong so please forgive me if I am and correct me if I aint got it right. But anyways , I seem to remember a ways back , like a few years ago on here, that me and you was discussin in a thread , talking about coppin in the hood and the shit the police can and cant do. Shit like whether or not they can try and make a deal with you and turn you into a CI, whether they can pull you over for no reason and search you or arrest you for bein in a certain area etc. That type thing. basically about your rights and wat rights you have in a traffic stop in a "drug area" or inner city hood, etc. (maybe it was somebody else but your name is stickin in my mind.)

IIRC we got into it kinda heated about that shit....And I think you said somethin like "Just becuz I aint from "the ghetto" and dont be in "the ghetto" at all dont mean that I dont know my rights. no matter where you are you still have rights and a cop cant just follow you and pull you over just becuz they dont think you belong in a certain neighborhood, and you still have rights to refuse a search, and you should exercise those rights"etc..not the exact words but that was the general idea. and I was sayin no, it aint fair but that it happens anyways, and its naieve to think that you can try and use your 'rights' in that situation becuz the cops will just fuck you over even worse if you try, etc.

My memory on it aint too clear , there was a whole lotta dope shootin between then and now, but thats the best i can recall it. like i said, if i got it wrong, my bad, and i very much could be wrong or thinkin of a different poster with 9 in their screen name.

Anyways, I jus wanted to say that (if that did happen and it wasnt somebody else i was thinkin of) i guess now u realized how much dicks cops can be and how much shady shit that they can and will do and get away with. they can follow, pull you over, harass, and search you just becuz they dont think you belong in a neighborhood and even arrest you too if they decide to use the plantin evidence trick on you.

And my real point of all that was just that i wanted to ask, Im curious how you ended up changin your mind, did you have some experience with this shit that made you realize how dirty and fucked up cops in the hood can be?

Its mad common for people who know the deal and been thru it to say hell yea they plant evidence.

But its also mad common for people who aint been in that situation or environment to be like "pfft, yall are dumbasses, you know , you cant believe everything you see on TV, duhh" and kinda dismiss the whole idea. Ive heard folks say shit like "looks like you watched too much of The Wire" and shit like that when I talked about cops plantin drugs nd doin other shady shit. They really dont realize that some shit on TV is exaggerated and made up obviously but that sometimes, shit really IS like that. The idea of dirty cops who plant drugs or steal your dope and use it to get high themselvs or steal your money and let you go or who pull you out the car and beat your ass just cuz they can...that is somethin you see on TV, but its also somethin that is very real and i think alot of folks honestly cant comprehend the idea that the people who are suppose to protect everyody could really be that awful, so instead they just be like no way, thats bullshit, etc, becuz its too crazy for them to accept the idea that cops can relaly be that corrupt.

^Yes I recall that quite well(although the details are fuzzy).

But why do you feel as though I've had a change of heart? I never said it didn't/coudn't happen, I simply said your rights may very well protect you in certain situations. Which they will.

Sure, a cop may plant drugs on you, and screaming "I know my rights this is bullshit fuck you pigs" will surely only make things worse. But when you're sitting in that courtroom your rights will save you.

I don't get it. What was their motivation? Seems like an awful amount of risk, not to mention suffering to put someone through, just to have a laugh with your cop buddies.

this was in a notoriously crooked county in TX,,, and i already had a large record.

this sort of thing, and a lot more is all to common there.
its a bad bad area, along a bad bad stretch of road called I35
williamson.

i hear people complain about cops in deifferent area i lived in, or chat/read about, and man, besides NY/NJ, they are MadDogz down there!!

I do not completely understand this post/thread but I honestly do not think cops plant drugs on people very often at all.

Well, its up to you to believe the stories of the folks postin here in this thread or not, but we aint got nothing to gain by sayin the shit we been saying here. It happens, whether it seems ridiculous or not.

I noticed that lots of the people who dont get it or dont believe that its possible for it to happen, who think that its just somethin that hapens on TV, etc, been from canada. I guess the cops over there aint as fucked up as they are here in the US.

But read this thread yo. read the replies from all these posters. This aint "i heard it from a friend" shit, but full of personal experiences that we had with cops planting drugs on us or bein involved in situations involving planting drugs. It really absolutely does happen, and it might not be some shit that happens 5 times a minute, but it aint uncommon neither. in city areas especially its mad common. especially if you are a junkie or somebody who cops on the street in the city on the regular, you almost guaranteed to have at least one experience with it during your junkie career or AT LEAST know somebody personally who had it happen to them.

you can be skeptical all you want but i aint lyin and i know that these other posters aint neither. It might seem like why would a cop do that when they got so much to lose, etc. But the reality is that they aint got much to lose , becuz especially inner city cops, a whole lot of em is dirty, and the ones who aint will still usually always protect their dirty co workers. theres a environment of "get the job done no matter how you do it, we are the good guys here, if a junkie was coppin dope and didnt cop yet and i pulled him over and planted a few bags on him, who cares? we all know he was gonna cop dope and woulda HAD bags on him in a few minutes anyways. I took a criminal off the street, thats the bottom line so who cares how i did it, hey, hes just a scumbag heroin addict anyways, i mean who gives a shit about his rights?" Thats the type of mindset thats goin on.

the courts the police forces, the whole system is geared towards the cops favor and against the person accused. The reason cops do it is becuz its so damn easy for them to get away with it. it aint like they really gotta risk much at all when it comes down to it becuz they are in a world where they get a whoooooollle lotta room to "exercise their discretion", you feel me? they do it becuz they can do it, and becuz they will get away with it. Power corrupts , we all know that so it shouldnt be no suprise to people when shit like this happens.

Keep in mind too that lots of us postin are from places with notoriously corrupt cops, so this shit is pretty common in these places, like chicago, nyc, new jersey as a whole, philly, and so on....

I have a friend who works in loss prevention for a retail chain of stores, and he deals with the cops all of the time. He has told me some stories about the police that are pretty terrible, albeit not exactly drug-related.

For example, a woman who had been caught stealing from the store was in handcuffs already when one of three police officers began to hit the woman and demand that she stop crying. (I guess the woman became hysterical when the police found bags of crack in her socks.) The other two officers simply looked away. After this happened, the police took the woman away or whatever and the police officer approached my friend, asking whether or not there were any cameras in the back room that might have caught all the commotion. My friend said, "no, no cameras," and the officer replied, "all right, well, if anyone contacts you about what happened just tell them whatever you have to," and that was it.

Another time, the police felt fairly certain that not one but both young women shopping together were stealing; however, only one of the girls could be proven guilty of stealing, so the police simply stuck some of the stolen merchandise into the other girl's pocketbook and both girls went to prison. It's true, they went to prison... my friend videotaped the two girls being hauled away to prison in the back of a police van. I watched the video lol it was crazy

^ Well thats certainly bad. Its fucked up.
Did they get out or w/e? Its seems like a dick thing to do, unless the girls were already bad.

No, to my knowledge the girls did not get out. Both girls went to prison even though only one had been caught stealing. Oh, and my friend told me that it was weird, too, because he was under the impression that the two girls would be released and appear before a judge and so on, but no... straight to prison. I guess that they had stolen a whole hell of a lot of merchandise.

paterson cop stopped me pulled all the same routine, he witnessed a hand to hand etc. i was as polite as possible but i never dun a hand to hand. i work in paterson and i explained that. sometimes i think they just profile people goin through the ward and pull over anyone suspect. well after it was all over my wallet was 25 dollars lighter, all the money i had at the time. and the cop took 14 of my subs. he ripped my car apart and tore me out of it even though i never consented to a search. i guess him saying that he witnessed some bullshit gave him the greenlight. well he had me sit on the curb after he punched me in the head and roughed me up on the hood. and as i was sitting there i got this ill feeling that he was going to plant something in my car. little did i know he was just going to rob me. when he was done he said go clean your car somewhere else. cuz he knew the first thing id look for was my money and my subs. fucking amateurs. i had his name but i never did nothing bout it. truth be told i didnt want to make life more difficult for myself. but i know my rights yadda yadda and i happen to be in connection with very good lawyers. but if a cop wants to fuck you he will. so i just gave up 25 bucks and all my subs for the two weeks that i had just gotten an rx filled. ended up telling insurance i lost my script and you can only do that shit once. i also had to pay out of pocket.

Even here in Australia, it doesn't matter if you know your "rights". You don't have any as far as any dickhead of a cop is concerned. And the system is tilted in their favour, unfortunately. The only way to avoid any of that is not be there in the first place...

Thankfully, I've always been on the other end of cops discretion. I've been let off all sorts of things, and to this day I'm not certain why. *shrugs
