Do cops actually plant drugs on people?

I have to ask, because up until recently I thought this was sort of an urban legend, or something people joke about.

I got to thinking about it a bit, and if I were a cop, I don't think I'd risk it for a few reasons.

1.) You have to be in possession of illicit drugs at almost all times. That's a hell of a liability, even for someone who feels they're above the law.

2.) The hypocrisy of busting someone for possession while you, yourself are the one in possession would be immutable.

3.) Most importantly, you're eventually going to cross a principled person. There's a key difference between upholding the law and wronging a person. Anyone with a criminal capacity understands the risks associated with illegal activity. When busted, it's difficult to hold a grudge for long. You played the game knowing the consequences, and lost. You weren't careful enough, you slipped up. Whatever. However, we're not talking about that. Eventually, if you keep wronging people, you're going to wrong someone who is not going to rest until they make things right. There are people in this world who will settle the score with no regard to their own safety. As a cop who planted drugs on people, I could not sleep at night knowing those people, my victims, are still walking the earth while I owed them such a large karmic debt.

So I ask again.. Do cops actually plant drugs on people?
 
In any normal area, a cop would never do this. I have only ever seen this happen to a friend of my who is a dopehead, and has to go to a known dopespot to cop. The cops are fucking assholes in the ghetto, and they WILL do whatever the fuck they want, no matter what the law is. If you go where the junkies go to cop, and you pull the "I know my rights" type of shit, they will just happen to find a bag of dope in your pocket, that was never there to begin with. Cops do actually plant drugs on people, but it will only happen in bad areas.
 
I've only heard of one story that I know for a fact was true. Someone was accused of selling coke(when they actually weren't). When they were searched and nothing was found, a bag of coke magically appeared. After searching the house and coming up with nothing they dropped everything... well from what I know of. I only knew one of the guys but I know they weren't charged for distribution.

In the end they didn't do it just to be complete assholes but to try and get what they thought was a dealer, so maybe you can say it was partially with good intentions even though I don't think it's right or ethical. The place it happened at is also known for having bored cops so going through a lot of trouble for barely anything is expected, literally.

Oh and karma got the guy back who reported them. But to keep it short yes they do.
 
It's a very common practice in such countries as Russia, though. They stop you, check papers, plant what they have, take you to precinct, and -- you pay money and they drop charges, either you are unable to pay -- you go to jail. They profit both ways, getting money directly, or as bonuses for another busted junkie... And their chiefs will always cover them, since drug addicts, unofficially of course, in public opinion, are that scum, which doesn't fall under any laws. Especially they love to plant it while searching cars.
 
I assume you're talking about in America?(As it can be commonplace in other countries)
The answer is yes I'm sure there have been cases. Whether this is common knowledge to the average person living in America or not, is another story. Regardless, it is a gross violation of civil liberties.

All I can say is be aware of your rights and if this happens to you contact the ACLU.
 
It happened here in Costa Rica. There's an immigration checkpoint about 30 minutes inland from the Costa Rica/Panama border, and 2 of the cops there were busted for planting marijuana on tourists, then soliciting for bribes.
 
I had a friend who sold coke on the streets in open air market

cops where never able to find his stash
so they planted brick of dope on the man
he never touched the stuff in a matter of fact he hated it

Same deal, 23grams (in half-grams) of blow turned into 7grams when I made it to court and got discosure. Cops either snorted it, sold it, or paid snitches with it, cuz there was definitely 23grams (46 half-grams) but I wasn't complaining...

Aight now, heres the details. Yes, they definately do. and Im in the US not no third world Russia Nicaragua shit. Ive known more than one person who got shit planted on them, whether it was straight up drugs that they didnt have at all that just appeared from the cop, or that they got cited on their booking papers for havin waaay more shit than they really did.

I remember in Newark my boy had a little dope and some coke, like a couple bundles of dope and a couple vials of base (In newark they always sellin base in the vials in paterson u can get it in small zip lock bags) anyways tho, the newark cops stopped him and was fuckin with him and he ended up gettin charged with like 137 bags of dope and like a clip of base (i forget the exact # it was)

Also my cousin got locked up for possession when she got stopped by police for thinkin she had been coppin (in clifton, there is a certain area that most dope users travel when they come back from paterson to buy dope, they ususally come back over "The bridge" and the po po waits on the clifton side, they will watch u go and then on the way back stop you on the way back)....

Well, anyways , they had came that way, and when they got stopped and was gettin interrogated and shit there was a black cop and he kept callin her cracker this cracker that. Now, she had already aten all her bags at this point, back in the car before the cops stopped her she had 8 bags, and swallowed all of them one by one. So, she was like fuck it i aint got nothing on me, so she started runnin her mouth talkin back to him cuz she figured she maybe get beat up a little but she aint gonna let nobody talk no foul shit like this cop was sayin to her. (yea, i kno, bad idea...But she my family...and in my fam we all kind of got one thing in common and that is a lil bit of a trouble makin attitude....)

Anyways, So, he stopped and was like "Oh yea, u wanna talk shit huh?" and then he went in her back pocket where she didnt even have any of her dope or never kept no dope there, and said oh look at this here....Forgot u had some dope on u huh? And pulled a bag out of her back pocket, it wasnt even the same stamp as the bags that she had had so dont say "Oh maybe it was hers and she just didnt know it was there".....And thanks to a fucked up legal system that has had her in and out , released and re-locked up over and over, for that shit that happened in 2005, she still locked up today....

So , I cant speak for everywhere else, but The shit definately happens out here in Jerz....U white or black, it dont matter, the boys out here in the city can be some real dicks...

I was just tellin a story the other day of how this almost happened TO ME PERSONALLY so I can DEFINATELY vouch for it 100%....I got stopped by the Paterson sheriffs TNT boys, the cats who roll around in the Emergency Response Team truck and the paddy wagon, that right there is some mutha fuckas u dont want to get stopped by....

I didnt have shit on me, and nothin in the car and they stopped me and my boy and said that they witnessed a hand to hand transaction (BULLSHIT, there was no hand to hand jack shit we was just driving down the road)....Anyways they like we gonna send yall to jail tonight, you goin, you think you aint but you goin....just wait til we find the drugs kids, you better give that shit to us now before its too late and we lock your pathetic asses up in the county jail" givin that whole story to us , tryna scare us about how its friday and we wont get out til monday, etc....

So anyways, they busy roughin my boy up, askin me questions then as soon as i answer tellin me "SHUT THE FUCK UP" , messin with me, they slammin my boy on the car and tellin how they gonna stomp us if they find shit in the car....

Then after they dont find nothing and I tell them the (TRUE) story that we wasnt coppin shit, i hear the one cop say to the other one as he is leaning down beside my driver side door lookin at the ground under my car "Hey....Is that a bag of weed there? that looks like WEED to me!" (there hadnt been nothing there, I didnt have shit, we didnt even have no bud) and then the other cop kinda pulled him aside and they talked for a second and I was like WAT THE FUCK U SAY? and he was like "Oh, Uh, I said.....It looks like u hit a skunk" or some shit like that.....I swear I thought I was goin crazy....

word bond tho, I guarantee u that mutha fucka was about to take me in for marijuana possession, there was NO bud there was NOTHING on the ground that somebody else might of dropped , I was not in the wrong place at the wrong time and just happened to park over somebody elses bag of piff that they dropped. Na, if anything was there, or was about to be there, it was cuz that narc mutha fucka was about to plant sum fuckin drugs under my car. if he said anything about that shit, it was cuz HE was putting it there and the only thing that saved me was the other cop had some balls.....

Real talk, I was scared , I had just got arrested earlier that day I was not tryna go back into no jail. I thank god that I was lucky that day, the cops ended up givin me the story about how I am so lucky that they are gonna "let me go" cuz they "decided to give me a break and be "nice" to me and all that shit.....

But since they couldnt arrest me, they ended up givin me a ticket for Careless Driving (Another total lie, i didnt carelessly drive SHIT) and I had to pay that bitch....Just cuz they got mad that I didnt have no drugs...

That is wat I am tryna tell u Cyc--Its the truth, in the US, in Jersey at least is the only place I can speak from with 100% personal knowledge, but when the task force narcs stop u, with the intent to bust u, and then they dont find shit, they get mad, they pissed off cuz they wasted their time, and sometimes they are 100% willing to MAKE you have drugs on you just so their time didnt go for nothing.

I am tellin yall right now, you better fuckin believe that shit, becuz it does happen, it aint no joke, it aint some kind of lie, some kind of "ha ha, yea right, suuuuure, they planted drugs on you" kind of ironic shit that people who are guilty say.....Its real, and it happen all the fuckin time.....Jersey is corrupt as shit, these mutha fuckas is doin shady scandalous things left and right out here yo, u better be happy to get a clean cop when you get stopped with some drugs on u becuz at least then youll only get arrested for the dope u actually GOT....Aint no telling wat u gonna end up with if one of these dirty-ass cops gets to you....

I even made a thread on "How many people here have been assaulted/beaten by police" and some mod closed that thread... It was getting good too... i still want to make one someplace here on this forum where they will let me.... I bet that will have some crazy stories just like in here

What I ment, in Russia all drug addicts belog to one special "junkie" race, which is subject to all kind of humiliation and police atrocities. From this point of view? yes, in's race related.

They call themselves one of democracies, social rights and stuff... but even in starving Moldova, they have methadone treatment, even in Iran, there not so long ago they had death penalty for drugs, they give methadone to junkies on the streets of Teheran. In Russia officials think that life of drug addicts is non-stop party and full of pleasures, so methadone is the luxury, which the bastards do not deserve. They even stopped all syringe exchanging programs. And after that Russia wishes to join European Community...
 
I wouldn't be surprised. I've been beaten up by the police for no reason at all in the past.
