direct dopamine agonist?

opiates = dopamine

Can SOMEONE WHO IS certain tell me the dopamine levels before and after(immediately) one goes threw rapid opiate detoxification or one in severe case of w/d? And what would stimulate higher levels in those situations??

I don't buy the reward prediction error theory at all... That's the kind of rubbish when people look at modeling data and try and apply a physiological system to it, instead of the other way around. (neo)striatal dopamine will be a facilitator of synaptic plasticity... what causes it to be released is another matter...

Withdrawal from opioids causes an increase in dopamine in the prefrontal cortex and a decrease in the nucleus accumbens

ok, first of all thankx for correcrin me on that bilzor, second what can be done to increase dopamine levels in the nucleus accumbens ?? What do you think of the aruement for leva dopa?If no what else could you think of?

Amphetamines will cause a good increase in Nucleus Accumbens dopamine release.

dopamine

yes ok, but amphetamines also increase the severity of opiate withdrawls, and also most likely will lead to cocaine being desired which is a very common crutch of people recently off of opiate addiction. What were asking here is something that will not speed up ones mind and body but may sooth the agony of depleted dopamine. What are your thoughts of levadopa?

i live in the uk can i buy a supplement which includes l-tyrosine b vits and alittle vit-c ? most multi-vits dont contain l-tyrosine?

you can pick L-tyr up in health food shops. It is an amino-acid not a pharmaceutical.

What are you talking about? Who said opioid withdrawal has anything to do with "depleted dopamine"?

L-tyrosine is not going to help.

you did 10 post ago in your reply to one of my questions, you said it increased in one area and lowerd it in the nucleus accumbens remember? again .. can you thnk of somthing other than amphetamines to increase levels?
During withdrawls if not decreased dopamine than what exactly were the opiates taking place of in the body that takes time for the body to build up then?? Is it not dopamine?? I am not stating this I am just asking and trying to figure an aproach to lessen the hell of getting off opiates thats all. ANYONE WITH AN OPINION OR FACT PLEASE SPEAK.

If you don't want opiate withdrawal, don't get addicted to opioids. The only things which are going to less withdrawal significantly are things which are opioids. Opioid withdrawal will have almost nothing to do with dopamine.

Clonidine and other alpha 2 agonists are sometimes used to help with opiate withdrawal, but there is no magic drug that is going to make withdrawal a pleasant experience.

fine and dandy I know that now but thats 20/20 hind sight, the problem @ hand is why this is being attempted to solve the discomforts that must be dealt with, just like to do it with a degree of pain lower than previous attempts, I thaught somone out there held a clue to the hellish riddle. Problems in life are never solvrd or cured by talking about what one should or should not have done, the cure is to deal with the matter at hand, not dwell on the past.

Some people find beta or mixed beta/alpha adrenoreceptor antagonists good too, like propranolol metoprolol or atenolol.

never heard that

hmmmm.. realy never heard that before, thnx any input is appreciated dude.

what about cocaine? does cocaine not work directly on the the pleasure pathway in the limbic system? since dopamine is associated with pleasure seeking behavior, i would think that dopamine activity is directly affected by cocaine, maybe there is a good reason why no body has mentioned it, to me this thread is a no brainer, but maybe i am wrong. maybe we are just talking about legal substances?
