I'm not surprised at all. I mean, anorexia's major symptom (not getting proper nutrition, or any nutrition) is kinda immediately life-threatening, whereas deaths associated with other mental illnesses are almost invariably suicides.
Maybe it's because fewer people recognise it as a 'mental illness'. I dunno. Also, take into account that most of the people who suffer from it badly enough to be diagnosed are in a very bad way to begin with. There are millions more out there with less severe eating disorders who either manage to survive or never get diagnosed, so the death rate among those who are diagnosed will be artificially high.
Nah -the majority of the deaths are suicides :/. Imagine starving yourself to the point of death (in the outsiders point of view) - then taking your life by another means !
