Diablo III

^^ What's a real RPG?

I think there are a couple options here....

3D RPGs where you click other buttons instead of just the mouse and need spacial skills.

Table Top RPG where you need to be willing to be play and accepting of the risk that people outside of the game might find out you play.

LARPing where you have to work out and get all buff so you can swing your Mace of the Card Board with +5% chance of scoring with one of the one girls who showed up.

Hmm..

Is the last option real life RPG?
 
a real RPG (to me) is a synthesis of tabletop (which I refuse to play) and a click click click click.

Baulder's Gate is the gold standard, I hear the kids like their 3d games these days though. Earthbound has a style and story that has yet to be beat.

Diablo is just... um, clicking.
 
Damn, its been so long. I was a freshman in high school. Got home a little after 3 every day and played diablo II until bedtime. It was worth it because I was great at getting people to trust me and jacking all their shit from them. I made several hundred, possibly even a thousand, dollars from selling items to the nerds at my school. =D

DIABLO FTW!!!

(not that I'll be playing diablo III at all, it just brings up great memories)

and i didnt think this was a RPG? i thought it was a hack and slash.

I was heavy into DII myself, so what I am hoping is that this installment doesn't go the way of warcraft and turn into a completely different game.
 
God dammit this makes me mad, but I'm actually very excited about this. And I never wanted to play online games again.

WoW? WCIII? Even SC2?

I loved WC II. They destroyed everything good about it and made just-another-RTS with shitty art.

And don't get me started on WoW.

Blizzard has started talking casually in six-figures. Making Artful games is no longer a priority. Making money, on the other hand, is.

ps. I know that my opinion isn't exactly the most popular, but live with it!
 
This game is definitely going to be a sick game to add on to the previous diablos! Not only that but blizzard is going to be coming out with starcraft 2 first too! All I'm wondering is whens the next warcraft coming out? (NOT WoW)

BTW Warcraft 3 was the best ever (all aspects are amazing on it, the multiplayer, story and cinematics)(the first starcraft was pretty epic too)..the only bad game I believe blizzard ever made was WoW (due to the fact its only multiplayer)
 
I spent SO many hours cracked out in front of Diablo and Diablo 2. One of the greatest tweaker games ever.

The sample footage of the barbarian looks fucking sweet. He can finally decimate the landscape like we always knew he could.
 
People are always so ridiculous when games don't meet their expectations or desires.. get over yourself seriously and think about all the games that SUCK big fat donkey balls. Any game made by Blizzard is virtually guaranteed to atleast give you a few hundred hours of enjoyable gaming for 50 bucks. Other games you can hope for 20-40 hours tops and most don't even give that much satisfaction.

Diablo as a series is an "action RPG" or a clickfest hack and slash but that's what makes it mindless fun. No its not Earthbound but you know how many people enjoyed Earthbound? 17. *just kidding - Earthbound was fun but come on it was made almost 15 years ago atleast and had an extremely small fanbase.

WC3 was also a good RTS. It was pretty revolutionary in a lot of ways. WoW is also a pretty good MMO. I'd even go as far as saying that before Burning Crusade came out and made it kind of lame, it was in the top 3 all time MMOs group with oldschool Everquest 1 and Ultima Online. All other MMOs have been travesties in comparison to the big 3 for their own reasons. Those 3 stand out for their polishedness, success, large player bases, and long life times as top games.

^ Some people enjoy games for more than just "fun" (yes, fun is an important factor, but not the only one). I see games as works of art - and that said, yes, the majority of games out there simply plain suck and aren't worth even being paid to play!

I must say though, Americans in general do not make good games, Blizzard included.

If these opinions make me stuck up, then so be it :p

ps. Yes, I think Halo sucks too ;)
 
Just because you don't like MMO games doesn't make WOW a bad game. It's actually one of the better games I've ever played in my life. Further WC3 was a great game that continued on in the vein of the previous RTS entries in the series.

If you think those games are BAD as opposed to just not being your cup of tea we obviously have very different perceptions of what a bad game is.
 
^ Indeed. As I said, I view games as art. As soon as I feel that the game's producers started chugging out crap under a selling name, I start hating it.

ps. I don't hate MMO, actually. I likeed Ultima Online :).
 
That's because Ultima Online was, hands down, the best game ever made (before they ruined it with the carebear parallel world). Ultima Online was like 10 years ahead of its time.

wc3 kicked ass dude what are you talking about

the thing i liked about d2 was you that it could get detailed as hell if you want to go that far. breakpoints in attack speed, faster hit recovery, blocking, lol sign me up.
 
IMO bad games = shovelware, movie licenses, Superman 64, etc.

i personally don't like FPS or fighting games (tekken notwithstanding), but i still recognize some of them as "good" games.
 
finally! heard about this a LONG time ago and was wondering if something would actually surface. havent played diablo 2 (LOD) since the ancestral recall mod

probably the next game i actually buy.
