Television Dexter

Season five really left me hangin'. I wanted so much more to come about in it, but it just left me wanting more.

Here's hopin' season six is better.

It was thoroughly mediocre; Season 4 was a hard act to follow. Much as I like Julia Stiles, she had much less of a presence on the show than past female characters with a fraction of her screen time (think Lila); the only good thing about the season was that it wrapped up the loose ends from the previous one. Hopefully, Six will start with a clean slate.

Re "wrapped-up": In that it picked up immediately where the former left off, and allowed Dexter to at least work through the loss of Rita and mature as a single father. Honestly, I expected the Season 5 premiere to fast-forward some weeks or months as is typical for most new seasons of series.

i'm only halfway through season 2 and considering switching it off. does it get better?

dexter's gf broke up with him, and then he fucked that sponsor chick.

i just get annoyed at shows where the characters act stupid for who they are. the lame soap opera is not camp enough to actually be soap, and not hilarious like twin peaks. it just seems cheap to me. i'll finish the season and then decide if i want to see more.

^ Watch the season with John Lithgow...season 4 I think. All in all it isn't my favorite show, probably not even in my top ten/twenty, but the season with John Lithgow was interesting enough to keep my attention.

I agree with MrGrunge, L2R. The season with that actor was especially good, though I've enjoyed them all. But the second season wasn't the greatest, I will admit. :P

cool, i like john lithgow. i'll preservere. thanks guys. :)

at least the show is nowhere near as inept at telling a story as breaking bad.

I've only seen the first two seasons of Dexter. From what I've heard, those are the only good seasons. That doesn't seem to bode well for you, sorry mate. Perhaps if Dexter wore some VI's it might salvage the show.

I think season four is good, as is... Gah, I don't know the numbers--Let me look up a synopsis of the seasons and get back to you.

In my opinion:

Season one: Good.
Season two: Had its ups and downs
Season three: Don't remember much about this, to be honest
Season four: Really good
Season five: Eh, was okay, but a let down compared to season four
Season six: To be determined, heh

well i'm kind of okay. this season seems to be off to a better (if weirder?) start.

i think the show is going to end with Deb killing Dexter and Dexter thinking that he's going to go to heaven, if all this religious stuff continues. certainly explains all the promo pics ive seen for this season:

Colin Hanks might be great too, or just shit, i need another episode though

Season 1: Freaking awesome.
Season 2: Freaking awesomer, except they completely blew it on the last episode.
Season 3: Pretty good.
Season 4: Pretty good, except it was becoming formulaic and predictable by this point.
Season 5: Still worth watching.
Season 6: To be seen, but it has a kind of different tone to it which ought to make it fresh, though I'm worried the script isn't what it usually is. The premise also kind of reminds me of the second (?) Dexter book, the one with the art-based murders.
