Dexedrine vs Adderall

I took Adderall for about a year, telling my doctor that I couldnt concentrate in class. This was, also, a few months after I'd stopped using meth. But Adderall totally helped me in class. I was attentive, alert, and got all my work done. It made me calmer. I like Adderall.

if i remember correctly adderall contains a form of dexadrine. i myself take concerta 72mg a day(methylphenedate), which is the same thing as ritalin (also methylphenedate). before that i tried taking focalin (dexmethylphenedate), but it never worked for me. ive never tried adderall...yet.

According to my doctor, a Generic Brand Drug....
No matter what it is, has a 10-20% range in variation that is permissable by the FDA. Wether it be stronger or weaker. Now let me tell all of the individuals that do not believe that their is a difference between the two my little story. I started taking adderall about 4 years ago, and because of it's ability to bring out the "Tiger" in me, I quickly switched to Dexadrine. I know now I am add, however I confess, I originally sought after obtaining these pills more so because of weight, WATER WEIGHT to be exact, that 5 miles a day for 3 months straight on a tread mill wouldn't get rid of. Before trying the tread mill, I tried to fast for 2 weeks, basically a liquid diet, and also experience no change in weight, not even 1lb! Now when I started taking both drugs, their was no generic. I experienced weight-loss with adderall, but switched to dexedrine, and experienced amazing weight loss, focus, and accomplishments in every aspect of my life I thought I found the "Ultimate Miracle Drug!" No longer dragging my but around, now I was the new "go to girl to get things done."
Now about two years ago I started taking adderall again because they came out with a generic, and it was cheaper....dexedrine at that time did not have a generic, or if it did...they didn't admit it at my pharmacy. So I take the adderrall, put up with the moodiness but still maintaining my weight, and having complete control over my outrageous appetite. Then dexedrine went generic, and I started taking it. Now at first I was getting my scrip filled only at Eckerds, I liked the spasules alot and life was good again. Then about 3-6 months into it I felt like I wasn't really taking anything. So I switched to tablets through eckerds, AND OMG THOSE 10mg tablets sent me to the moon! Very Very strong, felt stronger than anything I had ever taken! Don't know which generic manufacturer made them but the were fat and white, looked kinda like street drug ecstasy double stackers, they were double the thinkness as the ones I have been getting made by BARR which are as thin as a mini-thin and not even as potent as one, no matter if you take ur daily dosage all at once. However I coped until about 2 weeks ago when I popped 2 10mgs in the evening like usual, and OMG their I go back to the moon again, felt like I had been off my meds for 2 years and just took it again, it kept me up all night, I had no appetite, I couldn't believe what just happened! Now I started to get real pissed, and suspicious, I have not been able to control my weight, focus, or appetite for about the past year, even when I would break from the meds for a week or more. In addidtion a really annoying thing started to happen to me, I noticed that my urinary patterns became real annoying, feeling like you gotta pee, so I'd go, then only a small amount, so then I'd go to get in my car not even 2 minutes later, and guess what, I'd have to go again, only a small amount. Considering WATER WEIGHT was the cause of my weight gain, this is not a good thing for me. I used to pee like a guy who drank 50 beers on BRAND DEXEDRINE, BRAND ADDERRALL. So I asked my doctor about the difference, told him what happened to me and how I felt that all these pills I had been popping were PLACEBOS, and he told me, another patient of his who was an ATTORNEY, also complained of the very same thing, and researched it, found his suspicions were correct, and filed a lawsuit. Now just this past week in efforts to get my life back together, I requested BRAND DEXEDRINE (15mg spansules instead of the 10mg tablets I'd been on for the past year), then when I tried to fill it I realized that brand was 434.00 and generic (barr spansules 15mg) was only 131.00! None of my local pharmacies keep Dexedrine Brand in stock, so you have to wait a week to order it. I figured by switching from 10mg tablets to the spansules might help, or atleast be made by someone other than BARR, but wrong again! Today I took 5, and can't tell I even took one, I could eat a house right now, the only thing driving my focus is my anger, I'm looking up my alternative options for Brand DEXEDRINE, because in addition to reading this message I also found that BARR is in multiple class action lawsuits for UNFAIR COMPETITIVE PRACTICES, by which it was alleged that their product was far from equal to brand or other generic manufactures, and therefore could be sold for much less. IN ADDITION to that, they also used chemicals which have been linked to urinary complications, the one chemical in particular is called....Uritas which is a xanthine oxidase inhibitor that decreases uric acid production. It also acts as an antimetabolite on some simpler organisms. Now you do your homework, and look into you medicine online, that's what I'm doing. No need to try and trump one another over silly crap like this, it is what it is, and in my case, it's fraud! DO NOT TRUST ANY GENERIC FROM BARR...They suck. I just wish I knew who made those other tablets from Eckerds (now RITE AIDE) if anyone gets the fat white ones please share with us who made them, they were cheap and effective. Thank all of you for contributing to this board, it helped me, and hopefully my long diatribe will help someone else. Gotta go PEE...lol

Dexedrine just seems to have a more "healthy" feel to it....
It produces a smooth stimulation/high that doesn't come attached with the side effects from Adderal such as dry mouth, complete loss of appetite, etc.....It's just a cleaner feeling...and noticably less "speedy" in regards to sweating and heart palps....
I always get the 20mg Adderal IR and told my doctor I wanted Dexedrine so he gave me 60 of the 5mg pills....I took at least 4-6 of them to study...
In my opinion, and I have no evidence to support this claim but 40mgs Adderal=10mgs Dexedrine....
Like center mentioned, Adderal seems to have more of overfocusing effect compared to Dexedrine....It just seems to be easiser on the body/mind and I prefer Dexedrine.

It may be your opinion, but 40mg of Adderall does not equal 10mg dex, that is completely off. Its more along the lines of Adderall 15 mg is equal to Dex 10mg.
Anyways, yes, I have heard Dex is smoother. But, in the end, both contain the same ingredients, its just Dex doesn't contain the Adderall salts. Both are good in their own right.

i think its funny how stimheads know the complete history of the development and production of their stims in the laboratories
and find miniscule differences between brands (though i guess us depressants people do that occasionally)

Ive found that Adderall has much better therapeutic effects for me (gets me in "robot mode" and keeps me there for hours on end) while Dexedrine has more recreational effects.
I thought everyone was exaggerating the tired/benzo feeling from Dex till i tried it myself. I loved the feeling but when it started wearing off it was a lot more abrupt and made me feel like a zombie.
It was weird, Dexedrine has more of a subtle onset and wears off abruptly while Adderall is the opposite.
I prefer Adderall for school tbh. But I'm a lazy ass person already and I need the levo isomer for physical stimulation, and unless youre taking higher doses the PNS stimulation doesnt get to you all that much.
Just my opinion.

I just got my RX today and asked the DOC to bump me up to 10mgs and he wrote a RX for sixty 10mg Generic Dexedrine tablets......
I was using IR adderals for the past week to study for test and I must say that Dexedrine is MUCH more subtle than Adderal and wears off a lot faster....
I took 60mgs and an hour after, ate a chicken breast meal....The above poster pretty much explains it all.....Dex doesn't last half as long as adderal which I actually prefer because I dose it late at night sometimes.....MUCH CLEANER feeling....
It seems like you could take Dexedrine a few times a week and be fine but take Adderal a few times a week and you feel retarded...
