amphetamines has one of the strongest antidepressant and anti-anhedonic effects out of most of the pharms of today. Sadly because of addiction and its reinforcing factors prevent it from being used as a traditional antidepressant.

Do you think its possible to create a new drug that acts similar to amphetamine with the dopamine receptors but without the dependence and addiction? It seems Wellbutrin is the only thing that is close, however wellbutrin effects norepenephrine more than dopamine .. Amineptine and Nomefesine were taken off the market.Other than that there are no new DRI drugs out there. Is there anyway to release the DRI potential of amphetamines while removing the addiction and side effect profile yet still retain its great effect at relieving depression and anhedonia?

If anything were invented that worked on dopamine like that it would probably be tightly regulated or illegal. Euphoria is illegal, didn't you know that?

It doesn't make any sense that Amineptine was taken down from the market. That could have been a very effective anti-depressant especially when used as an augmenting med. I also think euphoria could be defined in different ways. Euphoria for one person might be increased motivation for another. It would also be a great discovery to help with the treatment of cocaine addiction too. If the FDA wasn't so money oriented and was concerned about an actual effective cure, rather than low success treatment I think they could do it. Obviously they can make more money by treating an addiction rather than curing it. But that fact that that mentality exists is sickening.

^^^^^^

This.......the fda would never allow something that works so great & gives euphoria to be sold on the market. They rather give you antidepressants that turn you into a zombie with no feelings & suicidal tendencies.

The psychiatric department is the biggest scam in medical history.

Amphetamine's antidepressant effect is mediated through the same mechanism as it's addictive/euphoriant effect. You can't really have one without the other.
