Stimulants "Demon Eyes" - Amphetamine Induced Bloodshot Eyes Resistant to Visine?!

Okay so we all know sleep deprivation can cause a little eye irritation an hence bloodshot eyes.

However, any time I've stayed up overnight (without amps) and have bloodshot eyes a drop or two of Visine (oxymetazoline) takes it right out.

How come when I stay up all night on amphetamines Visine suddenly stops working altogether?

No matter which type of vasocinstrictor I try (oxymetazoline, tetrahydrazoline, imidazoline, etc.), NONE of them make a dent in the "demon eyes" I get after a long night on amps.

Physiologically speaking, is it possible the andrenergic (sp?) effects of amphetamines counteract the pharmacology of OTC redness relievers?

On one occasion especially - a family dinner - my eyes were more blood than white, yet MULTIPLE different eye drops with the above listed ingredients failed to do anything to reduce the redness.

I never stay up for more than one night in a row on amps as a rule, since I know the toll it takes on the body and brain. I rarely (if ever) binge on my Adderall script.

I've been at parties before after a long night of cramming for exams and had multiple people ask me if I was stoned simply because my eyes were so bloodshot.

I found that corticosteroid gel meant for ophthalmic use (dexmethasone specifically) works, but only for a few hours. And they make my eyes extremely greasy and blur my vision.

Even after I've come down and pupil dilation is no longer present, the redness persists and remains untreatable with OTC remedies.

Is this a common occurrence with amphetamine use?

Or is it just something curious my body does physiologically speaking?

I don't think there is anything you can do other than getting a few hours of sleep during your binges. Sometimes just resting your eyes for 2 hours, even if you're not sleeping, will be enough to look 'normal' again.
Put on some great music and close your eyes!

Try naphazoline 500ug/ antazoline 5mg mix per 1ml of liquid.

It's the strongest OTC eye drop available.

Brand name is "Albalon A"

It will clear your eyes guaranteed.

Some people's eyes, I think, just have a tendency to get 'redder' than others.
My eyes, for instance, rarely get red. Even when I used to smoke pot, I could be blazed to the gills and no red eye.
Last time I can remember having red eyes was when I stayed up for some ungodly amount of days, like over a week or so...anyhoo, I digress -

I have 2 friends who use amphetamines on the regular and each of them swear by these eyedrops called "rohto."
There's 5 different varieties, I think - the arctic one is meant to 'perk up' tired eyes...
active ingredients:
Hypromellose 0.35% ... Lubricant
Tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride 0.05% ... Redness reliever

in the 'relief' drops, they also add:
Zinc sulfate 0.25% ... Astringent

'cool' drops:
Naphazoline hydrochloride 0.012% ... Redness reliever
Polysorbate 80 0.2% ... Lubricant

or the main drop "rohto eye relief":
they've patented something called "hydramed":
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) &
Tamarind Seed Polysaccharide (TSP)

just a suggestion. it's like $5 a bottle at your average drug store. google it.

*can be used with contacts, but is suggested to use the drops and then wait 10-15 minutes before putting in your contacts.

Rohto v's were a godsend when my eyes were bloodshot from not being able to sleep due to dope use.

Your problem is using visine. I don't even know-how they get away with selling that crap as redness relief. Clear eyes always does the trick for me

along the same lines, but different problem... I find that usually about 25 hours into a binge, I often get a very hard burning in the eyes, much like being pepper sprayed, combined with a heavy discharge of mucus from the eyes. Very uncomfortable, and combined with ultra-sensitivity to light.
This happens to me more often than not, and usually whether on "speed" or meth.
Does anyone else get this? Anyone have any idea why, or what can be done to prevent it?
This is not with using any form of eye drops.

I've gotten this from doing cocaine all night, I blame it on being over tired.
Being stoned or having irritated eyes as the cause of your red eyes can respond to visine, but I find when you're tired it doesn't do anything but maybe make your eyes look more glazed.
I don't blame it on the drug at all actually because times I've stayed up for a long period without drugs my red tired eyes are still resistant to drops.

You don't really have to sleep, but just lay down and close your eyes if you are going to stay up all night. Your eyes need to tear and that only happens when you blink and when you are tweeking on something all night, you don't blink as much as you should like when you are staring at your computer screen for 12 hrs str8.., so just put an hour or so aside and close those tired peepers and let your mind race, i guess.
