Decks, Mixers and Turntables

I was going to get CDJ2000s, but my friend who I was living with had a mental breakdown and is now back with his family after a month stay in the hospital.. so, I'm not exactly going to push him on the issue. I'd LOVE to get CDJ2000s still, simply not an option with THE current budget. Glad to see you're so concerned though, Ali.

The 350's are the least expensive of the series, yet still give most of the features of the old CDJ800/850. Plus I really don't want to buy used - I want to be able to trust my gear is in 100% working condition when I buy it. I've had my old controller for nearly a year and it just recently broke, so I think it's time to move to a more professional set up if I'm ever going to mix out at clubs.

Was able to get a little bit of practice on the 850s yesterday, they have a very similar screen. Seems the 350s would be the best way of teaching me to mix on older gear while still giving me the capabilities of the newer models (USB function and MIDI capabilities)

Yeah, you're right. I totally spent $3000 since January to impress a bunch of strangers on the internet, you've found me out!!

Da fuq? As I said, my friend went to the PSYCH WARD. Some things are simply out of my control. Obviously I value this gear highly however, or I wouldn't be going broke just for one piece of equipment.

that's not what i'm talking about. but thanks for making my point for me... :)

i'm dragging this way off topic so i'll just agree to disagree and move on.

Disagree with WHAT? I asked for opinions of a product. You're simply trying to use any inconsistency against me, when in reality you know nothing of my situation. As I said I would LOVE the CDJ2000.. considering a single deck is the same price as the entire setup I just purchased however, I can't afford it on my own.

I'll post some pictures of my decks when they arrive, probably going to have to rearrange my entire room lol. I am still interested in what others are using, though. The DJM-350 has a very unique feature that lets you record mixes directly onto a USB, but it's lacking in effects. Hopefully I can still use my controller to trigger them instead but I'll probably need to upgrade it eventually.

Have you bought the 350s? A guy I know has a set, and whilst they've got a lot of the features on the more expensive decks, I find the jog wheel a pain to get on with after being used to the bigger platter, and the pitch pretty hard work. I'd probs recommend saving up for the 850s or getting the 1000s

Too late now.. though, honestly I think the job wheel of the 850 is too big. That's probably just me used to my old controller though, which is why I'm switching out for actual decks so I can practice with a mock-club setup. Thanks for the opinion though. Hopefully it should all be arriving tomorrow.. though, UPS is a bitch and it seems my mixer comes on monday and my decks come on Thursday :|

I started on a Hercules mk4 on virtual dj then got a kontrol s2 on traktor pro and plan on upgrading an s4 when the money is right . I just don't see a point in buying cdjs or vinyls when a controller that does more things is half the price.
