They advertised this particular episode as "The episode every parent should watch!"...the moral that was portrayed - from what i saw - was that pplz on anti dep medication shouldn't fuck with ecstasy...does that mean the ppl that arent on any such meds are free to drop as they please? Will my parents agree? Or am I just too optimisitc?

Hmmmm, I don't know about that.
I think we need to be aware of what type antidepressant we are talking about. I was under the impression that mixing E with MAOIs would cause problems, however mixing E with SSRIs (prozac) generally reduces the roll, and SSRIs are used by some people to reduce E induced brain damage.

its true that antidepressant SSRIs may stop or reduce certain effects of ecstacy, i didnt think they would cause someone to collapse, but who knows what her supposed medication was.
i think supposedly taking SSRIs after ecstacy may perhaps reduce the effects of neurotoxicity, apparently.

Yes taking ssir's afterwards is a good thing but b4hand (like within a few days) i thought could lead to serotonin syndrome.. Its blocks the serotonin receptors leading to
more serotonin in the synapse..... or something like that..
but i may be wrong.. i can't remeber what they said the name of the medicine was, but they did say....

Have to say, I am on Fluoxetine (generic-Prozac),and I find the effects of pills greatly reduced, but the comedown less harsh,i.e. less of an e-tarded feeling. I watched Dawson's with equal amounts of appall and surprise, that they found it necessary to portray the scene that way..no one was smiling for gods sake. If Meredith whatever her character is was on anti-psychotics, such as Ritalin, then from my knowledge something akin to fitting is likly to happen to her.

The anti-psychotics have heaps of major side effects, but I don't think Ritalin is an anti-psychotic. It's more like speed.
Ritalin: Methylphenidate is a stimulant drug, as are amphetamines. It can be used to help as part of the treatment for the symptoms of hyperactivity or Attention Deficit (Hyperactivity) Disorder (ADHD). Methylphenidate can help the child's abilities to concentrate and to reduce overactivity and destructive behaviour.

i have to admit i was quite surprised that it wasnt just the pill (that giant pink lolly!) that fucked andy over, that at least they explained she got into trubble by mixing medication and pills....

Taking one an hour into a roll, very dangerous; traps an enormous amount of serotonin in the synapse. -> serotonin syndrome.
Taking one at the end of a roll as we all know meant to be rather beneficial. U trap your last little bit of serotonin in the synapse, allowing a smoother come-down and allegely reduced neurotoxicity.
I agree with rc1n and someone on the first page. I think its good that the target audience, mid-teens, would see something like this. I despair at 15-16yr old people i know taking pills more often than i do; and with about 1% of the knowledge that most of us possess.
However i think it would have been better to have her collapse from dehydration/overheating. U saw that she never stopped running around or drank. And the other girl spent the whole time trying to find her to give her water.

The fact that anti-depressants and MDMA DO NOT MIX is not well known enough IMHO..and for all you know this episode will save some lives out there.
Andie was on Paxil of i am not wrong...i'm looking thru the transcritps again to be sure.

I like this nick fellow, i think i would like to subsribe to his magazine.
It's good to see a message getting out there, but it makes me cringe the way they have to do it. There are plenty of 13 year old teeny boppers watching dawson's creek, and let's be realistic, seeing bitchpants fuck up on E, is going to make them more curous rather than "OMG! Dawson OD!!".
I can't wait to become a primary school chemical dealer.
