I don't know if there's music that is able to master richness, sexiness, beauty, dancablitiy, and complexity better Daft Punk's but if there is I'm guessing Jesus wrote it or something.

So yeah, discuss.

Favorite songs.

Personal fantasies involving Daft Punk...

whatever!

Right now I'm jammin to Something about Us on repeat... thanks to atlas.

Here's the video for you fellow nerds!

ms. moderator... wrong forum! ;)

that being said, i for the most part get super annoyed at any single song they've ever done by itself, but their sets are amazing.

The mythology is just like... flawless. Back when they released homework, they would wear animal masks, or whatever to hide their faces because, they claimed, that they'd be mobbed by fans on the streets of Paris when they went outside.

Then, when discovery came out, the said that they had a freak accident in their studio, and the only way to save them was to graft on even more robotic parts and go ahead and transition them to cyborgs.

Its just fucking briliant. Some reviewer on pitchfork, back when air released talkie walkie, said that in France, the line that separated irony and sincerity wasn't so clear as it is in anglo culture. I think it shows. Their music is profound and heartfelt, and cheesy and groovy, and stupid, and crazy, and mostly just awesome. James Murphey (aka LCD Soundsystem) was right to namedrop them in Losing My Edge. People who played guitars and drum kits in america really did get their minds blown by Homework back in the day, and I'd say that all the lovely indie dance punk or whatever you like to call it today is directly related to them. Way more than bullshit anthem trance, corporate electronica, or early American techno and house.

Their albums are going to be formative in the lives of my children. I really can't wait to see the results.

shhh!! ;)

I read this from a fellow fan:
"Their helmets supposedly cost 14 grand to make and took over a year to build.... the company that makes them said they would make them for anyone who wanted them , just its gonna cost them alot of money to legaly produce them and get permission from daft punk , and all that good stuff."

I need to start a savings account....

Daft Punk are absolutely awesome.

Even if I was at the funeral of my entire family who'd all been killed in some freak accident, the mood & occasion as sombre as is humanly possible, with no light at the end of the tunnel, life seemingly ceasing to have any kind of meaning, nothing but a veil of death, despair & destitution hanging in the air patiently waiting to claim its latest victim & then take them down, down, down into the deepest pits of hell itself.................Even in this situation, if someone walked in & put down a stereo, pressed play, & the first notes of Digital Love started to dance their way from the speakers, I would be forced to get up & make every last fucker in the place dance as if the fate of the world depended on it, with the greatest grin the world has ever known plastered across our faces.

Daft Punk = =D x1,000,000 & 1

ha. kinda weird to see this in NEMD :)

but yes, homework is an absolute classic. daft punk pioneered that thick, filtered french house sound - one of the styles that first made me want to spin records - and although i think some of their music sounds dated at this point, their influence is obvious in many current electronic floor fillers. daft punk has got to have some of the catchiest hooks and funkiest melodies ever. 5 stars.

i heard a recording of one of their live sets (from coachella last year probably) and it was dope. a track like "da funk" is still unstoppable if dropped at the right time. tunes like "high fidelity" and "indo silver club" are great too, and what crazy music for 1997. daft punk has their own signature sound down to a science.

thomas bangalter still churns out new material here and there if anyone is interested in peak hour filtered house jams.

I only got into these quite recently (I know, criminal ain't it?). Anyway, I never really 'got' them before. That is untill I heard them on acid last December. Suddenly everything made sense :D

I've got loads of favourite tracks, but I'm gonna go ahead and list them anyway coz I'm a bored nerd :\:

Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger
High Life
Short Circuit
Face To Face
Rollin' & Scratchin'
Rock 'n Roll
Oh Yeah
Indo Silver Club
Human After All
The Prime Time Of Your Life
Robot Rock
Make Love

I go through stages of having a favourite album, but at the moment it's Human After All. To tell you the truth, that was always my least favourite. But it just reminds me of a special someone ;)

Im not hatin but Bigger, Faster, Harder what the fuck ever really let me down, here I was expecting homework-ish type Daft Punk but I got somthing else, somthing more mellow.......but I did enjoy a couple of songs off it and I really enjoyed the gold card that came with the CD
