crystalized opium

Arabs and Indians are the primary importers, sellers in Michigan, i have friend who used to get opium directly from the smugglers, and they were infact arabs.

^Lansing actually has a decent islamic/arabic population and I have seen real opium there a few times...

What country borders Michigan? The same country in which you can legally grow opium poppies. Also 2 kilos of opium is such a small amount, that it wouldn't even be able to supply an entire town, it could however supply a small closed nit community of people. I am not saying that their is no opium in the US, I am saying that it isn't very economically sensible to go thru the process of dealing opium. I bet that the people dealing the opium in the arabic populas are charging more than 20 a gram for it. Also read the DEA article
"The North Central Laboratory receives approximately five samples of opium a year; however, this was the largest amount of opium ever received as a single exhibit. "
5 siezures a year, always less than 2 kgs. Almost all of this stuff is smuggled in for personal use, or for the use of a small amount of people. Opium use is more of a culture thing in this case, otherwise they'd be shooting dope or taking pain pills. I still see people buying and selling red rock opium, if it wasn't for the fact that i've seen so much fake opium going around, I might still think that opium was actually somewhat common too. Its a drug chances are whoever you are selling it to has never tried and doesn't know what to expect, and chances are they are going to be smoking it with weed. Everytime I hear people's stories about the opium they smoked they say it enhanced the high, when in reality your high can change just by your mind set, you expect to feel something off the opium so you do.

^Yes, a lot of opium in the US comes from Canada - either grown there, are smuggled through Canada into the US from other countries. I too have seen way to much fake opium sold, and people telling of it's "relaxing" effects when smoked with weed. I say, if they believe it then good for them. I think there is more opium in the US than people realize - some comes from the middle east, some comes from Canada, some is grown right here in the good 'ole US of A. Bottom line, just because you have never seen it doesn't mean jack, there are a lot of different drug channels and groups inside the US....

Anyway, I don't think you or anyone else is in the position to tell others on this board if they got real opium, black tar, or anything else for that matter....

I can say whatever the hell I want to as long as I am supporting my statement with facts and give reasons, #1 #2 goto this website for a little better understanding of what I'm saying. The one exception to all of this is pod puddy being sold as opium, this is technically not ripping you off, but its really weak opium made with dried pods bought abroad quasi-legally.

Their could be a million drug channels, it doesn't matter, they all have a common goal, to make money. Heroin or opium, or even morphine base. Which of the three would make more sense to smuggle into the US. Well heroin sells for $100,000 to $50,000 a kilogram and sells for $300 a gram on the street for pure heroin. "Opium" costs "$20" a gram in the US, and sells for less that $5,000 a kg. So you would need to smuggle 10-20 kgs of opium, maybe even more to get as much money for it as 1 kg of heroin. To smuggle that much opium would cost a lot, and it would take a lot longer to sell. I don't see everyone in Newark or NY selling opium and coke, they have heroin. So from abroad in poppy growing countries, columbia, mexico, etc it would make more sense to convert the opium into heroin and make it more valuble #1 and #2 it makes it smaller and #3 each dose weighs a lot less. It makes no sense to import opium from any country where you can get acetic anhydrous. Mexico has problems with some of the chemistry, so they do the next best thing and they import opium converted into heroin, not washed. Then there's Canada. You can go their and buy a fuckload of fresh opium poppies, put them in some water and milk them inside a hotel and from their smuggle the opium, it won't be a lot because you can't get unlimited flowers, but you would be able to get a fair amount. Most of the people that would bother with this won't make much of a profit, cause the poppy pods are gonna cost you a bit and you need 20 per gram of opium. You'd also be risking your ass if you cross the border, but it would still be smarter than growing poppies in the US for opium, but not as smart as just buying heroin. Growing opium in the US is just all together stupid as well as pointless cause you'd need too much land, it takes too long, and you can legally grow them in Canada. This make sense yet? This is why all the opium you see is either fake or is coming from the person that either grew it, or someone that bought it (or the flowers) from the grower, or at least knows the person that bought it from the grower.

2 kgs of refined opium would take 40,000 flowers, or as much as an acre to a half an acre of poppy pods, spaced with 8 to 12 flowers per sq meter. It would take you 120 days to grow the poppies, it would take you hours and hours of work to score each and every pod several time and then you would need to collect this opium, which would take just as long. Your talking about hundreds of hours of work when you can just as easily buy pharmies. Let's say you can plant, score and collect all of this within 100 hours. Thats still like $1,000 worth of work. Than with the risk, I mean you would have to get a good amount of loot for that to be worth it. It would only be worth it in Canada, cause poppies are legal to grow #1 and #2 you don't have all the heroin conversion plants like you do in most poppy producing countries. I bet anything that for that much opium he probally went to a buncha different sources, or someone that had a flower farm and he milked cut flowers. Either way, their isn't enough demand, nor enough opium being processed in Canada for it to be around like some drugs.

2000 grams would go thru 1 to 2 lvls before it reached the consumer
Either he was selling ozs and Qps, or smuggling it for a few people in 1 shot, and they sold to the dealers/consumers. With such a small amount of a drug, it wasn't switching hands very often, and once again you would need to know the right people to get it. Unless of course he was running back and forth every weekend, but from the # of siezures, and the fact that they are always for such a small amount makes it look like its probally going to a small group of people that sit on it until its gone, and probally don't even sell it (whoever ends up with it once its in the US).

Easy cowboy...

Twgburst: Calm down. Everyone who cares enough to loook into the matter already knows that there is almost no commercial opium trade in the states. If an Arab was going to smuggle it in [and the only Arab country currently growing opium in any negligible amount is Lebanon...and that country certainly converts it all into heroin] why would he not instead concentrate on heroin? As you noted [a bit off nut the general idea is on point], the retail mark up kilo per kilo is no contest, it would make no sense to import opium. In fact, besides what people here have said, according to the government [and they are not always right although seizure reports back them up], only the Hmong are bringing it over...and they only sell to each other.

Some people do undoubtedly grow their own. As most know however, it takes a lot of plants to harvest a viable crop. An acre will run a little over 11,000 plants...and that is for a little over a kilo. It is just not happening on any scale.

^I agree, no one is going to go to all the trouble to grow poppies for commercial purposes.

This is why all the opium you see is either fake or is coming from the person that either grew it, or someone that bought it (or the flowers) from the grower, or at least knows the person that bought it from the grower.
I still think this statement is untrue, you have no idea where it came from. While what you say is most-likely true, there is a small percentage of opium that IS smuggled into the US for whatever purpose, and you are in no position to tell someone you have never even met that it is either A, B, or C. Besides, there is a lot more opium smuggled into the US than you realize, it just usually isn't sold - so don't say it doesn't happen.

Morphine base! Thank you. I always wondered what it was I smoked back in highschool. It was sold as white 'opium' crystals, definitly active. As stated above we would sprinkle them on a bowl and then blaze away.

About opium never being found in the states, that is simply untrue. It is rare, yes, but it's definitly around..

OPIUM IN DETROIT, MICHIGAN

The DEA North Central Laboratory (Chicago, Illinois) recently received a large rounded rectangular mass of a dark brown, gummy/tacky solid (“Tootsie Roll” appearance and consistency), suspected opium (see Photos 4 and 5). The material (total net mass 1,985 grams) was packaged in layers of plastic wrap, a re-sealable plastic bag, and duct tape. The exhibit was seized by the U.S. Customs Service from an individual attempting to enter the United States from Canada at the Detroit, Michigan POE. Analyses by color tests, TLC, and GC/MS indicated morphine, codeine, thebaine, papaverine, meconin, hydrocotarnine, and noscapine, confirming opium (approximate relative ratios based on GC area counts: 100:50:30:25:15:8:7). The North Central Laboratory receives approximately five samples of opium a year; however, this was the largest amount of opium ever received as a single exhibit.

Arabs? Actually Hmong are the primary importers [mainly in Minnesota] but they do not sell to non-Hmong.

Synto:Marquis do not ascertain purity, and I did not claim that they did. What they will do however, is ascertain whether - or - not the "crystal opium" you thought you had was really an opiate.

As for you not following my buddies [and mine] example when injecting heroin, why would you then assume that exact attitude when it came to that unkown substance? That was your behavior and you explained it away by claiming that since you saw your buddies doing it, and since they were not apparently suffering any ill effect, and especially because they appeared very intoxicated, you decided that it was o.k. to do it yourself EVEN THOUGH you had no idea what you were putting into your body. Again, been there done that [for years] and now regret it. Why not simply engage in positive behavior?

Most of the behavior I engage in is positive. I wasn't assuming the exact same attitude when it came to the crystals. I have enough personal experience to watch you and your buddies shoot a gram and know I can't do it, that example is invalid. I know my limitations. I smoked the "unidentified" opiate after 3 of my close buddies smoked some, informed me that it was an insanely good opiate, looked a "bit" faded (not very intoxicated), but nothing dangerous. I waited an hoiur or so after they dosed, and decided to dose some myself. This year I'll bring a marquis to all the festivals in "the spirit of harm reeduction". Just for you buddy.

I know this, if you read my posts you would see how this supports my statement. 5 samples, 2kg being biggest ever, this tells us a lot.
"The North Central Laboratory receives approximately five samples of opium a year; however, this was the largest amount of opium ever received as a single exhibit. "

^It tells us there is very little opium being smuggled into the US, but that is does happen. Plus, we have no idea how much the DEA doesn't get......

I got the white rocks before, I remember maybe 2-3 years ago on my campus some kid had them, I came back for more a bunch of times cuz they were pretty good. Definitely better than any of the fake opium that people sell. Never heard of em before tho and still to this day wonder what was really up with that, because it got me quite high.
