Crusties v Cops

there's a couple of 24 hour offies a couple of minutes down the street from this tescos which shuts at 11pm

Even less point in there being a Tescos there in the first place then ;)
They are just looking for profit. There's no thought of bringing quality produce to people, purely the cash moneh monayyyz :|

it's just about crushing competition, nothing else

Happiness has a lot to do with the gap between "rich" and "poor".
The wider the gap, the less happy the country is.
Tesco et al. are purely greedy.
I'd be happy surviving and doing what I love rather than being really rich :)

Slut yerself out - I'll be yer pimp =D
I guess my wishes are small - Have a job to sustain renting out a place and be able to play sets at gigs :)
That's all I want. If any record sales come from that then that's cool. But ultimately, to make people dance in a club - That's lush to me ;)

Your expectations are too high to match yer abilities Spade-kun =D

it has been psychologically proven that those with larger accumulated wealth do not appreciate small pleasures as much. equally, it has been psychologically proven that lots of small pleasurable events ~ happiness. therefore, contrary to popular belief, once you have all your basic needs filled, money buys not happiness, but makes it harder to acheive.

the main source for this info is a new scientist article i don't have to hand. in addition, read affluenza by oliver james.

i have an MSc in a fucking solid subject, I could, without blowing my own trumpet, earn double what I do now. i think i have chosen a truer path to happiness. if you want to prove me wrong feel free to throw 50 grand at me.

I actually think I read that New Scientist article chin :) Along with a few others proving similar things - The wealth gap that determins a country's happiness.

Living "on a mountain", you forget about the beauty of a blade of grass.

Anyhoo - Fully going off topic here but feck eet ;)

it was a great article, people often take the piss out of me for getting excited about trivialities (when in the right mood), but it turns out i'm probably a more content person for this trait.

can bring it straight back onto topic by quoting 'every little helps' but feel a bit sick doing so.

Haha =D
Nah yer totally right - Appreciating the "small" things in life make you much happier than losing sight of them :)
Taking in everything and anything this world has to offer is much more fulfulling than missing out on a great deal due to having too narrow a perspective.

I fucking hate TESCO, i used to go there for my daily dispense of methadone because i worked at the time it was the best place due to open hours of the chemist

Every day i would be there at between 7:30pm and 8pm and was just started my script so i wasnt stable or anything at the time, i live about a 45min walk from the place so you know ...

Anyway i went there one night and they said oh you will have to come back in one hour as the room they used had been hired for medical screening that night, i was like WTF why did you not tel me last night when you know i come at this time every night , ive just taken a taxi from my house to get here cos i am needing it now and couldnt wait , they said oh well you will have to come back in an hour anyway .. i was like you do realize what you ar telling me to do right when i have came to you telling you i need my methadone now ?

So i went and came back an hour later and she must have had time to realise she had just sent away someone that was needing their fix their and then to go try and not use for an hour insted cos fuck me she was practically on her knees apologizing to me after wards

I said just give me the methadone ive waited long enough and this is the last time i will be here , you get paid extra to cater for people in my circumstances and for all you know i could of went away and over dosed , you obvously should not be dispensing if you are going to treat people in this kind of way , she then went on to try and make up heaps pf excuses and i told her save them for your boss cos this is not the last you have heard of this

I just remembered one of her pathetic excuses was that i was wrong that i thought i came at that time every night, thing was my dad was with me the 2nd time and said " how can that be when i take him here every night apart from earlier tonight and its the same time because its when i get home from work i take him"

She was fucking speechless

Fucking bitch

But if the people of Ammanford had of said fuck Tesco and avoided it when it 1st opened there, none of the independant traders would have gone out of business surely.

People didn't 'avoid' Tesco because when it opened it held its prices artificially low. They are poor people - unemployment is massively high - it's an old mining town. Of course they are going to take the short-term view and shop where its cheapest. Tesco cynically exploited this. Then whacked up their prices as soon as the local butchers/greengrocers etc went out of business.

People didn't 'avoid' it for the same short-sighted reasons displayed by others in this thread. It was cheap.

And now it isn't.

And yes B9, it's 'capitalism' that is going on. Nasty exploitative capitalism. But people here seem to think its some sort of 'natural order'. It isn't. It's cheap, dirty, naked capitalism. And people will suffer. Communities will suffer.

I'm not sure how their online system works so excuse me if im wrong but, couldn't a lot of the people bypass this unfair pricing structure by ordering online? Surely the online prices are the same wherever you live in the country? Either that or they could shop at another online retailer?

It's quite obvious that most people think tesco are cunts in this thread with ASDA and Morrisons also getting a few mentions, Co-op and Sainsburys have hardly been mentioned at all. Do people think these are less 'cuntish' organisations? Just interested in peoples perceptions of different stores. Co-op and Sainsburys to me seem a bit more fair, if that's possible?

Co-op do faretrade products and 2 for £3 on Westons Vintage Cider, what more do you want?

Fucking bitch

Here calm down eh. She just works there, I doubt it was her decision to rent out the room for health screenings she just has to tell you what's going on. Not her fault you're rattling either, again she's just employed by Tesco to serve customers not to make decisions on how the premise is going to be run and when folk get their methadone.

Co-op is easily the most expensive local shop here. It's a fucking rip off for anything but the odd decent booze deal & the checkout staff are total cunts. I lost my passport a while ago so have been using my old (expired) one as ID. Not had a problem at all except in the Co, by some stupid bird who fucking knows I'm older than she is, knows I'm not under 18 & could blatantly tell that the passport photo was me & proved that I was well over 18. "This has expired, we can't take it, it's store policy" tried to storm out "Aye well, fuck you then!" then had to creep back with my tail between my legs "eh, can I get that passport back" haha.

It's the only local shop here, the other closest is Tescos which is at least a 30min walk away compared to the 5min walk to Co-op. Does good cider deals and bottles of red and rose wine for £4-£6, it's all I ask for.

Is that really all you ask for?

There's poetry outside. Some of it dogshit, some of it diamonds. Better than anything the Co-Op could offer.
