Cruise mum drugged, raped: inquest (Updated 7/13/07)

Although i empathise with anyone who has been raped i wonder if "throwing the book" at them will stop it from happening. I've been the victim of crime and i know many friends and family who have also been affected by crime.

Yet we've been throwing the book at murders and rapist for decades, if not centuries and it does nothing, it doesn't prevent crime nor does it sate the victims need for satisfaction.

The problem i see with crime is that in reality it's a health/genetic problem. Yes, murder, crimes of violence etc.

Take crimes of violence. For hundreds of thousands of years humankind has glorified humans which extol in violence and aggression. These men are given the best women, allowed to acquire wealth (i guess they take it really), are allowed to propagate their genes. It has only really been in the last 100 years that we've suddenly realised that aggression on the scale our genetics impose on us has created the situation we have before us. There is no balance or equilruibum in our system, violent men are allowed, if not encouraged yet victims are told to hold back on revenge and allow "the system" to get them satisfaction.

We sway back and forth on the crux of an advanced society which seeks to solve it's problems at the root (for example remove the gene and treat the individual to abhor violence) whilst we continue to glorify all types of violent occupation and sports. We hate the idea of a state removing choice, by genetic/psychological reprogramming yet we think by imprisoning those who fuck up that this is somehow a solution.

For every rapist you put in jail that person will come out even worse then when they went in. They'll go on to hurt and fuck up yet more people. And what for, a misguided attempt to sate a victims pain?

How does that fix the victims pain, by imposing pain on the perpetrator? Yes they need to be punished but the hell holes we call jail are not the solution (and never were).

Brimble willingly took fantasy: Silvestri

Sydney Morning Herald
30 June 2006

A man implicated in Dianne Brimble's fatal overdose has told a Sydney inquest his cabin-mate gave her the date-rape drug known as fantasy with her consent.

Letterio Silvestri is one of eight men considered of interest to police investigating the Brisbane mother's death from the drug gamma-hydroxybutyrate, also known as fantasy.

Silvestri, the first of the eight men to take the stand before Deputy State Coroner Jacqueline Milledge, said Mrs Brimble was told of the drug's effects before she took it.

Mr Silvestri told the inquest his cabin-mate, Ryan Kuchel, told him he had overheard Mark Wilhelm offer Mrs Brimble fantasy when they returned to their cabin in the early hours of September 24, 2002 - the day after boarding the cruise.

"Ryan was obviously awake at the time. Mark produced some fantasy ... Mrs Brimble asked 'what is it', Mark replied 'it's fantasy'," Mr Silvestri said.

Mrs Brimble asked 'what does it do', Mark then asked her 'have you ever been horny', Mrs Brimble said 'yes', Mark then told her 'this will make you ten times hornier, it's like ecstasy'."

Mr Silvestri said Mr Kuchel had told him Mrs Brimble had then willingly accepted the drug.

"She fully consented (to) it and wanted it. There was never any mention of her not wanting to have it," he said.

Mr Silvestri said he was sleeping in the cabin while all this took place.

"I only remember the next morning when Mark waked me up," he said.

He told the inquest he was only aware his friends had taken the illegal drugs on board after Mrs Brimble's death.

Mr Silvestri said the only drugs he had with him at the time were Viagra, valium, sleeping pills, and tablets to aid in body building.

Mr Silvestri, Mr Wilhelm, Mr Kuchel and their other cabin-mate, Matthew Slade, have all been subpoenaed to appear at the inquest, along with their travelling companions Dragan Losic, Petar Pantic, Luigi Vitale and Sakelaros Kambouris.

Mr Silvestri's evidence continues.

Rape is very wrong. But why is the man always blamed for rape. What if all the men were also under the influence of GHB. I know GHB hinders your judgment. But it seems to me the guys were scared and didn't think she was going to die but inevitabley it happened... Before they go pinning stuff on other people they need to do a little more investigating of the crime committed

well, wait now, I have gotten fucked up with a group of guys before. Not some sexual orgy, but just some typical partying. Just bc the hubby and the friends are trying to save her rep by saying she wouldn't do this means they are correct. we dont know if she did this willingly or not. the guys didn't throw her body over, they called the medic and attempted CPR. we can't assume they dosed her.

If you read other reports/articles in the Australian media, there are witness accounts of that Sillverio(sp?) [the key suspect] bloke bragging to other partyers on the ship that he and his mates were profiting from making cash in the illicit drug trade. More than one witness.

Apparantly also, one of the security guards on the ship witnessed one of the men for swearing and treating Brimble like shit because she refused to massage him at the nightclub/bar. The security guard approached him and said something along the lines of, "we don't treat women like that here".

I also find it extremely odd that Sillverio(sp?) said that she was lying in bed with him, it was dark and he heard moaning and groaning and Brimble was trying to engage in sexual intercourse with him, so he just pushed her off the bed onto the ground, because "she was an ugly dog and he doesn't have sex with women over 60 Kilos" Ohhh and, "the ugly dog screwed up my Holiday".

Strange too, I find that he also mentions that the reason why he didn't tell her to get out of his room while she was naked and in bed with him, mind you... was because he had just recently popped a few "sleeping pills" (GHB?) and felt too groggy and lethargic to kick her out.

The whole case has too many things that add up, the aforementioned, not to mention the fact that there is an image of one of his mates having sex with Brimble on the memory stick. Everything in the case pretty much implicates these animals of being sub-human, egotistic animals that would be willing to drug a woman and gang rape her, if they were turned down.

Just think, like... imagine for one second the amount of victims to suffer if these men were to be not punished in a place like prison. All it takes is (in most cases) one rape offense to get locked up for a few years, sure it may not have got rid of the rapist's desire to rape his victims, but at least while he/she is in prison there will be fewer victims preyed on by that one individual. Of course, it doesn't entirely prevent these crimes from happening in the future, but it allows the offender to at least think twice before their actions.

Puppetry of the Penis stubby holder over his penis>?

A "stubby-holder" is a rubbery, or foam circular invention that supposedly keeps your "stubby" (aussie slang term for 360ml beer) cold and also keeps the drinker from getting cold hands from the stubby. ;)

"Puppetry of the penis" is a live comedy act performed by two men who stand on stage and do strange flexible movements with their cock. I think it started down under, at it's now pretty popular all over the world.

Brimble 'may have have unwittingly had drugs'

Brimble 'may have have unwittingly had drugs'

David King
13 September 2006

RYAN Kuchel has conceded for the first time that Dianne Brimble might have been given the date rate drug Fantasy without her knowledge.

Mr Kuchel told Glebe Coroners Court he had never heard Brimble accept the drug which was allegedly offered to her by his cabin mate Mark Wilhelm.

During cross examination by solicitor Peter Gray, for the Brimble family, Kuchel was asked about Mr Wilhelm giving Brimble the Fantasy. "For all you know he had done so without her knowledge," Mr Gray asked.

Mr Kuchel replied: "It's possible, I presume."

Mr Kuchel was asked by Coroner Jacqueline Milledge what he would do differently if he had his time again.

"I wouldn't have gone on the cruise for one," he replied.

Petar Pantic will give evidence this afternoon.

I was always wondering why girls I hardly knew that long come out to me and say they have been raped.

Most of the time it is made up for attention. Some girl told me the first day I met her that she has been raped. Not only that, but that she slept with 30 guys. This just makes it so much harder for a real raped victim to contact the police. Rapists deserve terrible punishments, but child rapists are definately the absolute worst.

One other dumb girl tells people she got "raped" all the time.

Even though the slut is intoxicated, and decides on her own will to fuck a guy. Then she turns the situation around and calls it a rape. Oh, please, "I'm fragile and can't be rejected; please be with me forever. <3 hubby"

1. I know a few guys who have had there drinks spiked in clubs. Rapists can be gay or female to. Why is a guy getting raped any better/not as bad as a girl getting raped?

2. So the girls slept with "30 guys," geeze, whats one more hey? Never mind if its against their will.. Wtf? how does that make her not a "real rape victim"? Did you read what you just wrote it sounds stupid.

Did they actually find GHB or analogues on the people charged with the crime? Because when you die your blood stream is flooded with GHB naturally. And from my understanding any orally taken GHB cannot be tested for in urine and only in the blood for around 2-4 hours after ingestion, but then again, when there is death involved, the body naturally releases a lot of GHB.

Drugs 'thrown off death ship'
By Lisa Davies, Daily Telegraph
July 13, 2007

A PERSON of interest in the Dianne Brimble coronial inquest has told of hearing that ecstasy tablets brought on board a cruise ship were thrown over the boat's side following Mrs Brimble's onboard death.

Matthew Slade, a 34-year-old student from Adelaide, is the sixth person of interest in the inquiry taking place in Sydney.

Slade today denied to the coroner's court that he is an Adelaide drug kingpin.

The court has previously been told that Slade was one of the biggest drug dealers in South Australia by informant witness "Mr White", however Slade's lawyer today strongly refuted the claims.

In evidence, Slade told how he had been invited on the cruise on the P&O liner Pacific Sky by another person of interest in the inquest, Leo Silvestri, who he had met at the gym.

"It sounded like a good idea at the time," he said.

Slade shared the cabin in which mother-of-three Mrs Brimble's body was found with three other men who are persons of interest in the inquest.

He said the morning after Mrs Brimble's death he had woken up with a hangover and seen a person on the floor of his cabin but left straight away to go and buy cigarettes.

He also claimed he had no knowledge of any of his friends having brought the date-rape drug fantasy on board but had contributed $120 for three ecstasy tablets.

He said he remembered being told by one of his friends that the tablets had been thrown overboard.

Slade said he believed his friend Ryan Kuchel had told him that but said he did not have any desire for the drugs after Mrs Brimble's death.

"The absolutely last thing on my mind after the incident was getting ecstasy," he said.

His evidence will resume on Monday.

Mrs Brimble, a 42-year-old mother of three, died aboard the P&O liner Pacific Sky in September 2002 from a toxic combination of alcohol and the date-rape drug GHB, also known as fantasy.

We can only hope it was her.. before she gave birth to Tom would of been better though.

I'm not even sure GHB was involved in this case, it was mentioned in the first article, then they mention sleeping pills(GHB in powdered form absorbs moisture from the air until it becomes a gel, you can't press it into pills) now they mention MDMA tablets? Did they ever do a tox screen on the body?

For all the people that claim to be raped after being drugged, I can't find the URL but a news article in the last year out of the UK claimed that they could not find one GHB drugging case they were able to verify out of all those reported, and that most victims had simply been drunk and were too embarassed to admit it, or naturally assumed since they blacked out it was GHB.
