critique the song above

^^^When i opened the myspace it made my internet freeze: right on the banner of him on the top. and theres like 4 pictures of him on the banner, and all of them were staring at me ...it kinda bugged me out, haha. so i never got to listen to any of the songs on his myspace, but i did listen to some of his stuff on youtube.
I don't really like any rap from this decade where all they rap about is gangs and shit. I like stuff like that from the 90's like Wu-Tang, Biggie, etc. But to me any of that new shit sounds too contrived and all that. But for a commercial rapper(you can't deny that shit, he's got a song with Lil Wayne 8)) he's got an alright flow, he just doesn't seem that talented at writing. I can't really judge his skill until i hear him freestyle. so from what i heard i'd give him a 5/10, just cause that Blood Walk music video made me laugh ...haha, dancing.


As for me i'm listening ta some Big L: 98 Freestyle. Ya gotta admit he's mad good at freestyling, even if you don't like Hip-Hop.
Keep in mind that ALL of this is on the spot. He aint readin off a prewritten paper, it's all freestyled

I haven't hear this song in a good while. Forgot how much I liked it. I'll have to go check out more Stone Roses. I thought it sounded familiar in the beginning because of the similarties to Beck's Loser. Then I heard the chorus. Nice.

I think I've posted this before, but a damn good song is a damn good song.
 
^ it was pretty commonplace to me. the images in the video were more interesting than the music. perhaps it would grow on me after a second or third listening but, after one listen, there's really nothing to distinguish it.

Reminds me of old Sugarcubes stuff. It's got a nice vibe to it.
Some minor gripes though. It's kind of the same thing all the way through with extra instrumentation building extra layers. OK, there is a bridge halfway through that changes things but think it could have used some more ideas. I really couldn't tell where the verses ended and the chorus began. Or if it even had a chorus.
I was expecting the song to climax at the end with maybe the beat picking up and loud guitars entering triumphantly. But it was not to be.
I had never heard of this band so I looked them up on wikipedia where I found "The Knife have listed David Lynch, Aki Kaurismäki, Korean cinema, Trailer Park Boys, Donnie Darko, and Doom as inspirations for their work." I find bands listing non-musical things as influences the ultimate in pretentiousness. I hope they intended that as a joke.
It's a pleasant chill-out track. Something I might hear playing in the background of an indie record shop while I'm sifting through old vinyl.
