Conscious rap

Good shit. Those arrangements were extremely beautiful and sounds like bands playing, not a programmed VST.
What defines conscious-rap? Lyrical content? This style-type beats?

It's like "woke" rap or whatever. Basically the songs are about meaningful or everyday life shit, not about having the coolest sounding rhyme or drugs/sex/money.

It stems from people like Tribe and Bay Area 90s rappers who popularized it.
