Confederate flag on state property/on state flags?

No one is banning the flag, stores are withdrawing them from sale of their own free will. Which is their right.

If one did ban a flag though, Germany banned the nazi flag long ago without banning every flag. Done.

Wtf.. Looks like Amazon pulled the flag too. Walmart didn't really surprise me but this is ridiculous. I guess if we just ban everything that might offend some people and take away law abiding citizen's guns psychopaths will stop murdering people. smdh

Was there a recent law that banned the flag? I should probably pay closer attention to the happenings and goings on.

I want my kids taught real history not this rainbow love fuck nonsense pussy asses are tying to conjure up these ddays.

Such as?

How the confederates actually won the war?

I don't disagree on a certain level. Kids should be taught the truth about Christopher Columbus, the Native American genocide, the nonstop wars of aggression, the Tuskgegee experiments. I don't recall my 5th grade social studies teacher mentioning any of this.

It's a flag thought up by abunch of racist, hillbilly traitors and should be treated as such. Face it they lost so stick it in a museum with the Swastikas cause it means about the same thing.

says the man who wants to ban a constitutionally-protected form of free speech because it offends him.

Ha, I walked right into that one didn't I? I would say burning the American flag is one of the few fringe cases that I object to being protected. Hell, it didn't even used to be. If someone wants to do it on their own property I don't give a flying fuck, but I don't think a simple fine or such would be a big deal for doing it in public. Hell, I can get fined for spitting gum on the sidewalk. It would certainly beat the alternative of getting their ass kicked. If that makes me a hypocrite I really don't care, that's just how I feel about it.

The U.S. is not far from that I don't think. Not at all.

Attempting to erase history is one of the most detrimental things progressives can do to our society imo. .

Wishing to remove a flag that is offensive, insensitive and racist has nothing to do with erasing history. The only people who are actively trying to rewrite history are the morons who claim the confederate flag represents "Southern pride". Historically, that is absolute garbage.

Bardo try looking at a modern middlesschool history book it is full of rubbish. Well at least they were really bad when I worked at a textbook store in 06-07

I am saying take rhe flag down from all state property, but vote on the state flags. And don't do what they are doing now and taking down statues of Jefferson Davis Bc he was on the wrong side of history. That sob did more for kentucky than most realize. Knee jerk highly emotionally charged reactions rarely result in anything positive or right.

Kenny dont be the problem be the solution. I want my kids taught real history not this rainbow love fuck nonsense pussy asses are tying to conjure up these ddays. Confederates had great minds on their side with their hearts in the wrong place. We dont need to erase it we need to redefine it. Why let the evil fuckers steal what is rightfully ours? It is all perception/reactionary. Believe it or not Im on your side baby girl.

The Confederate flag is a poor choice of symbol to represent the cultural history of the Antebellum South if that's what you're after. While many will argue that the cultural history of the Antebellum South is inseparable from slavery and therefore should not be celebrated, having grown up in the South, I know this is an unacceptable idea to many Southerners. In an attempt to find an acceptable middle ground, I think it is important that there is some consideration given to the fact that the Confederate Army was literally an army that fought to keep slavery intact, and that the symbol of such isn't going to be well received by the modern-day descendants of slavery in particular. I think historical flags from the pre-1860's seccession era would be generally better received.

Having grown up in the South but now living in New England for about six years now, I've come to realize just how ingrained racism is in the South and how much of a negative force it truly is. I've tried to explain this to people who have lived their entire lives in New England and the only way I can think to describe it to them is that the issue of race is literally unavoidable in the South as it is today. You can be a white or black person from New England who has no ill feelings towards the opposite race, but if you move to the South, you will literally have people hating you for the color of your skin. You will start to avoid certain areas and certain situations based purely on the racial divide in the area. It's a really toxic thing that needs a major effort put towards resolution. Changing the flag is such a minor thing that could actually make a large impact in this area as it is majorly symbolic in terms of putting the past in the past.

Having grown up in the deep deep south I completely agree with your sentiment. I am personally non racial in general just b/c of the way I was raised, and you couldnt pay me to live in SW georgia again. White flight from county to county, the disconnect in communities, and overall negativity is felt in every aspect of society. That being said there are too many things to list that I love about it on the flip side. All I am saying is put the state flags to a state wide vote and see if there is truly the passion for this issue the partisans proclaim there to be. I am not going to lie the battle flag has been destroyed by hate groups but I still find it endearing for some reason maybe it is my great love of the south and the history of the civil war. Funny thing is I saw the flag on the front of peoples cars a lot in rural quebec. They apparently adopted it as a symbol that they are pro separatist from Canada. Norf what do you think about Georgia and their use of the flag of the confederacy? I really liked it as that flag is uniquely southern, but hasnt been desecrated by hate groups. Also what do you think about things like taking down statues of great southern leaders from their capitols?

I will say I hope to god they take down this abomination I drove past for two years on the I65 in the heart of Nashville. It is a privately owned badly done statue of Nathan Bedford Forrest. While he was a great military strategist I do think he was a pretty bad guy from the body of work I have read. Here it is lol

Thankfully nashvilles mayor is going to plant trees in front of it lol

Actually alot of Confederate soldiers fled to Canada to start over after the civil war most of them to upper Canada i am guessing. You even get some families here who trace their "Loyal" roots back to the American revolution as they fought on the side of the British and when they lost they ran for British Canada. The British did aid the Confederate bastards after all. Essentially the ruling class in Canada in central Canada was made up by British lackeys and various American traitors and losers. If America was founded upon a revolution Canada was founded on counter revolution.

I remember seeing Confederate flags on cars and bikes up in Ontario and 9 times out of 10 the person who owned it was a fucking asshole.

You really think that taking the flag down is going to help fight racism? Let's see, how would that work?... "Gee I'm a total racist and hate black people, but since they took the flag down I think I'll reconsider my views"... Yeah I don't see that happening.

The funny thing is the chic filet effect is gonna hit hard core in this case imo. They are only making it more cool/edgy to fly the stars and bars. Division does fuel the industry of the professionally offended after all so they are making strides.

I was thinking along the same exact lines. Imo this is just going to make people who advocate the use of the flag for whatever reason even more vehement about it, and all of this is just taking away from the main issue and dividing people even further. Lets not focus on how psychopathic kids are somehow slipping through the cracks and going on shooting rampages. Instead lets take down a flag... That will solve it!

Maybe the key is something more out of the box....what if we made the confederate flag a logo for the IRS, or something else universally hated, trick people into not wanting to associate with it by choice.

Just a thought. =D

This is really disgusting me I may have to get a small 53-01 Georgia flag sticker for the back window of my truck. I am honestly thinking of a low effort way to start a chic filet esk movement and get the ball rolling; FB page??? I will say at least they are not trying to attack our constitutional rights and have decided to go for the low hanging fruit.

Ha... All they did was help raise the profits of independent online distributors. That's not a bad thing I guess.
