All antipsychotics cause weight gain, or at least prevent you from losing weight
Please be careful about say "all" of anything has a specific side effect. We are all different and medications treat us all differently.

Case in point, I've been on the max dose of Abilify for like 15 years and the only time I gained significant weight was when I was drinking lots of beer and eating ice cream every night before bed. When I quit the beer and ice cream and started training martial arts, all the weight melted off and then some. Still on Abilify the entire time.

Want to let people know that I believe that most of the medication is out at 4 months and we have altered brains, and from that point on the brain is in recovery. While there’s still some of the drug in your plasma at 5 months, it has little effect at that point.

Think of it like a traumatic brain injury. That’s basically what we’re experiencing.

Any idea when you all experienced that first little bit of improvement? Yesterday, I felt something different and it seemed like I felt dopamine briefly but it went away after a few minutes.

Are you sure ability is helping you? Do you actually need anhedonia for your problems? You seem level headed to the point where you don’t need APs.

I don't agree. Only time works in getting rid of the poison. Eating clean is good though because the poison already makes you gain weight, so your goal should be to damage your body as little as possible until you can recover.

I've read a lot of garbage on these threads, like taking supplements such as anti-depressants or St. John's Wort. None of it works. Only time will take care of things.

A couch potato who eats like a pig also will recover because of time.
Not true.!
I did much research on SSRIs, found that they actually stimulate neurogenesis.
In my case using an antidepressant (escitalopram; first 20 mg, now on 10 mg) helped me a lot.

Stay strong!! How have u been? Can I hear ur story?
I had my first psychosis in May of 2019, got put on oral zyprexa (olanzapine) for 2 months and then cold turkeyed. I gained 25 pounds in 2 months but recovered very quickly. Only took me 5 months after stopping oral to lose the weight and feel better.
But then I relapsed at 12 months off, and got shot with invega for the first time during my second hospitalization. I recovered completely at 12 months off and also managed to lose all the weight gained by 13 months off, but got caught by the cops for breaking a red light and got shot with invega for the second time.
During my third hospitalization, I got shot with invega for the second time and gained 40 pounds, I was at my heaviest. But managed to lose 30 pounds and felt better at 8 months off.
But my parents decided to hospitalize me again due to severe insomnia and not eating properly, which resulted in getting shot up with invega for the third time during my fourth hospitalization.
I am now 8 months off, only gained 10 pounds this time but not able to lose it. I am sleeping well and everything else is back to normal but I still miss my pre-invega self.

Will there be some improvement at the 6 month mark? This is getting really exhausting. I can barely sleep.

Did you suffer from andohenia and loss of emotions and did that return?

Yes I definitely did, all three times. I was also incoherent, unable to think, complacent, and depressed.
But that feeling decreases gradually and I felt improved by the 8 month mark all 3 times, mostly because I started to enjoy simple things like watching tv, playing video games and working out.

By the 6 month mark, I was able to enjoy music and watch tv a little. Anhedonia was still slightly present but goes away by the 8-9 month mark.
Insomnia is something people struggle with while coming off antipsychotics for a long time, so I can’t give you an exact time frame for when that will get better.
But I will suggest to not get hooked on any sleeping pills, even melatonin or Benadryl. Those are only meant for one time use on the rare occasions, not to be had long term.
I made the mistake of taking sleeping pills regularly and that backfired when I tried to quit, because my insomnia had become worse than ever. I slowly tapered from sleeping pills and now don’t take anything for insomnia, except for 1mg melatonin on the rare occasion.
