Text below is not an "extraction how-to", text below is for anyone who actually wondered about how much APAP is extracted when performing cold-water extraction. If you are not interested in the subject don't read it, you'll be bored. This is kinda long because I tried to include as much details as possible.
Check this out;
5 vics (7.5/750 - WATSON) weight .9 each using d.scales making it 4.5g or 4500mg
Those 4500mg contain;
3750.0mg of APAP 750 x 5 = 3750
37.5mg of HC 7.5 x 5 = 37.5
712.5mg of binders 4500 - 3787.5 = 712.5
When I poured thick-white substance into the closely-wooven piece of cotton, which was straped onto the drinking glass in a cone-shaped manner, brought it edges together and slowly twisting from the top squeezed every last bit of solution I could from there, I was left with a compressed glob of white chalk, and lotsa little pieces stuck to the cloth (on the inside). (Solution was passed through a coffe filter and ingested immideatly
)I've spread cloth on a table and let everything dry for 24 hours under 100Watt table lamp. When everything was as dry as it could get, I picked up pieces that I was able to pick up with my fingers and scraped the rest with a plastic card (ID), virtualy scraping 98% of the powder. Pieces and powder were placed on a strip of glossy paper (to minimize sticking) that was folded in a "V" shape. Then I made a little dish with 1/2 walls out of tin-foil and placed it on digital scales which were in OFF mode. (FYI, when u put something on d.scales and they are off, when u turn them on, they will show
0.0 on the display, however when u take the object off the scales and they are still powered on, it will show -*.*, where *.* stands for wieght of the object) Scales were turned on and white-chalky substance was placed into the foil-dish. When everything was in the dish, display was going from 4.1 to 4.0, so I suspect the weight was somewhere around 4080mg. So the ammount of waste extracted was around 4 grams. Now let's see how much APAP was extracted. We'll be pessimistic and pretend that every last bit of binders were extracted, which really can't be as the solution was not crystal-clear, so at LEAST 100mg were present, but as I said we'll be very pessimistic;
A) 4080.0mg Total mass of sub. extracted
- 712.5mg Mass of binders extracted
~4.0mg Some HC traped (unavoidable)
----------
3363.5mg Mass of APAP extracted
B) 3750.0mg Orig. mass of APAP before extr.
- 3363.5mg Mass of APAP extracted
-----------
386.5mg Ammount of APAP ingested
Now, 386.5mg is a low ass dose of APAP! Compared to 3750 it is 89.7% LESS of what you would be ingesting if no extractions were performed. How ever in real world ammount of APAP taken is far less than 386.5! First it's impossible to extract every last mg of binders, as some go through the cloth no matter how closely wooven it would be. So I'd say around 100mg goes through, making it
612.5mg of binders extracted and not 712.5 (original mass), then don't forget that after I squeezed solution through the cloth, I let it go through coffe filter straped on a glass in the same manner as cotton cloth, and coffe filters trap APAP as well, as they practically have no holes at all, only fibers that trap very small particles, such as crystals of APAP that didn't dissolve in cold water. So 50% or more of APAP that escaped the cloth, is trapped by coffe filter. There is also around 40-50mg of powder lost (mostly binders) when scraping and transporting, but such low mass is not significant. So here are "real-life" calculations based on the above paragraph;
A) 4080mg Total mass of extraction
- ~600mg Mass of binders extracted
~4mg HC traped in the glob or cloth
-------
~3476mg Mass of APAP extracted
B) 3750mg Original mass of APAP
- ~3476mg Mass extracted from the solution
--------
~274mg Mass of APAP in the solution
C) ~274mg Mass of APAP in the solution
- ~50% Ammount traped by coffe filter
--------
~137mg Ammount of APAP ingested
~137mg is 96.35%
LESS than 3750mg.
Every calculation above may varie from 0mg-90mg as digital scales that were used, only meassured on 0.0 scale, so if actual product weights 2560mg, scales would show 2.5 grams or 2500mg
Well that's it! Now, honestly, how many of you read this from top to bottom
?
