No really, it would probably keep just fine.. but why not drink it. It's a bit of fun, might help you sleep nicely :)

I'm a codeine junkie almost (stares at pack of panadeine fortes) riding on a few hundred mg atm... itch itch..

damnit.. downers got me bad :)
 
last day of school today, so i too will get my itch on :)


300mg codeine + grapefruit juice + a few cups of wine + a few cones = best damned prizegiving ive ever been to

I did the extraction, then remembered some shit I had to get done, and I knew it would happen if I drank it :P

Might have to get me some grapefruit juice before I down it and see how that goes... 400mg + Grapefruit should be fuckin awesome

Correction: 400mg + Grapefruit will be fuckin awesome. Don't forget to down the juice a few hours in advance. 1 or 2 Dramamine goes nice too!

Me, I'm trying to stay away from codeine for a whole month because I have become psychologically addicted and want to prove to myself that I'm not that weak. So far, I've gone 5 days without it and am craving it like a bitch.

If I make it a whole week I may just have to reward myself with 300mg of codeine. Just joking, but that seriously is the sort of shit that occasionally pops into my head. I just have to reassure myself that that's the opiod talking.

Man, Chemists Own 9.6mg Strong Pain yellow tabSULES suck arse!
Just spent over an hour crushing them to a powder as they dont dissolve in water.. They are extra glossy coated.. And why are they down to 9.6mg now?

Are these new? I remember tabsules that were white, these seem totally brand new.

The seperation is taking its time.
 
How am I going to know if the extraction is a success when its yellow.
I do normally over filter though....
 
Well.. that was time consuming and possibly risky.. I think I did have a fair bit of paracetamol but not enough to kill me. I try to coffee filter 4 timers normally and throw the gunk out but with these yellow tabsules it was harder.... With white "CO" tablets its alot easier to know how much APAP got through... probably 2-3g MAX doing it the way I do, which is nothing really.. ansd thats the maximum, i guess a lot less..

But this was harder.. and I kept waking up people. And had to hide ten glasses with extra strong coffee filters in them and shit. Which made me do less of a filteration job and less judgement because of the colour. If you hear from me in a few days, all went good. Got work tomorrow. Got to wake up in a few hours.

I would recommend to stay away from these 9.6mg Chemist Owns Extras Strong Pain Killers Yellow Tabsule form. They are a lot of hassle to try to do safely.

BTW Even any size packet is now S3 pharmacy med in Queensland, requiring I.D.

I wonder if homebake is worth the effort. I think Pyridine is pretty watched right?

I just took 2 grams of sulfasalazine as a liver protectant just incase.
 
IME the main problem with them (chemists own pain tabsules 9.6mg yellow cap shaped pills) is simply that they take ages. They will dissolve into water eventually (without grinding them) but you have to leave it for about 4 hours. It takes at least another 4 hours to filter properly as well I've found.

On many occasions with this brand I've gotten impatience and tried to speed things up with a number of modifications to the procedure, but all of the methods ended up in an inferior brew that tasted weak and had little effects. There are better brands to use, though this brand seems to be very popular with many chemists.

With regards to telling whether its a clear solution or not (which admittedly is quite difficult because of the dye) I've found a good trick is to hold it up to a light source (such as a lightbulb) and look carefully at the liquid. it shouldn't appear cloudy, more rather it should look kind of like cordial. There's also another aspect to it that I find it difficult to explain in words, but to me, codeine in liquid looks similar to tramadol when it is diluted in water.

I should note that I found the results from this brand (after many hours spent on the procedure) to be among the best, and the liquid (filtered through 2 coffee filters) to be quite clear - apart from its yellow tinge.

Well i did that but still am sus.. I normally filter the liquid at top aftwer freezin twice, and then the remaining liquid that starts getting cloudy about 4-5 times.... for safety.


im getting effects but still worried about the panadol.... i squeezed some of the filkters to hurry up in the end as it took me like 4-5 hours.


getting chronic gut pains... guess work tomorrow will be on stimulants again

I find APAP has a different taste to codeine. Codeine is really bitter and nothing else, whilst APAP is less bitter and has a "salty" taste.

Say... what? What does this mean? Does this apply to all codeine meds? I certainly hope not, and I certainly hope Victoria doesn't follow suit. So nice to be able to waltz on in, pick up a pack or two of para/codeine and walk out again, no questions asked.

Just thought I'd add my $0.02 here...

I used to have to take Zoloft 50mg per day for a while, and I found that this greatly boosted the effects of codeine for me. The stuff was hitting me harder and longer, and through some research I figured it acted kinda the same way grapefruit juice does; by tying up the enzymes needed to metabolize codeine into the less recreational products.

It could also be that St John's Wort and Zoloft also increase the amount of morphine produced, and a quick google search managed to turn up some research that (I think) supports this, but most of the full articles were only available to registered members of medical journals and such.

Just remember that St John's Wort is an SSRI, and as such can have dangerous interactions with other medications or psychotropics people may be taking.

Are you sure? I went to two pharmacies in the city yesterday to get my 24 tablet packs of pain killers as per usual, and didn't get asked for ID or told about any changes to the scheduling.
 
yeah same with me. Went straight in to Qld chemist and told them I was having teeth pulled and they were handed straight over
 
I never tell a chemist what I get anything for. I Just ask for it, they're not my doctor.

BTW I feel better but APAP poisoning takes a few days to kill you. I think I'll be alright though. But yeah, stay away from those yellow ones, too much work.
I mean, I still double filtered... and threw out the yellow gunk... but a bit got thru towardsa the end when i got impatient and started squeezing the coffee filters instead of letting them drop.
So the last filteration was alot more OJ looking.

Not just for my benefit, but others that may do quick extractions. What signs should I be looking for right now... Nearly 12 hours since ingestion. for a paracetamol overdose.
I'm not going to hospital to be put on watch for a day or two if I don't have to. I am sweating a lot though, and my facial muscles feel like im coming down from meth.
 
Well, this is from the Wikipedia page on paracetamol:

Individuals who have overdosed on paracetamol generally have no specific symptoms for the first 24 hours. Although nausea, vomiting, and diaphoresis may occur initially, these symptoms generally resolve after several hours. After resolution of these symptoms, individuals tend to feel better, and may believe that the worst is over. If a toxic dose was absorbed, after this brief feeling of relative wellness, the individual develops overt hepatic failure. In massive overdoses, coma and metabolic acidosis may occur prior to hepatic failure.

And hepatic (liver) failure is described as:

* Acute liver failure - development of hepatic encephalopathy (confusion, stupor and coma) and decreased production of proteins (such as albumin and blood clotting proteins) within four weeks of the first symptoms (such as jaundice) of a liver problem. "Hyperacute" liver failure is said to be present if this interval is 7 days or less, while "subacute" liver failure is said to be present if the interval is 5-12 weeks.

They sound like the guardian brand. How fucking hard is it to put an extra 0.4mg of codeine into the bloody things anyway.

Splatt my friend, I squeeze filters all the time and have never had any problems at all. In fact, I've conducted an experiment where I did a CWE complete with squeezing, bolied it all down and ended up with about a gram of powder. Paracetamol in cold water clumps together you see, so it would be very obvious. No solids and you're safe. I wouldn't stress, but if you still think you've fucked up you should take some milk thistle and go see a doctor.
