Cocodamol - The drug of the credit crunch? plus other codeine/dihydrocodeine queries

It's not on the shelf, it's OTC. I always just ask for co-codamol, if they ask why I say I have gout. I also always ask for the cheap one in the red and white packet, it's considerably cheaper than the other brands.

Eh? I was talking OTC as well.

Fair enough; I can see the appeal in cheap codeine as much as anyone. :)

All I'll say is that if your tolerance goes up (and hopefully you won't be doing enough CWEs to cause that to happen) then I'd opt for the Paramol. It'll cost a bit more but you'll get more out of it without increasing the potential strain on your liver.

Which is probably the best option if you're buying OTC.

I honestly don't think the 8/500 Co-codamols are worth doing a CWE on unless you're really desperate (the 30/500s are another matter of course).

I'd much rather take the risk of extracting seven-point-whatever milligrams of DHC than take the same risk for 8mg of codeine. I find DHC much more enjoyable and with fewer negative side effects.

Funny that. I find Codeine to be better than DHC. ... seem to have a high natural tolerance to DHC and have to tread a little too close to high doses to get nice effects.

Don't know if that's possible to have a high tolerance to one and not the other, not up on that side of things.

Just settling into some Codeine right now as it happens :D

^tbf I think it's my fault, my post was quite ambiguous...

Just as a general word of warning, it probably isn't a great idea to try to buy antihistamines and codeine in the same purchase, that would look very sus imo.

I have been served with no problems. I found that the best antihistamine was Piriton (chlorphenamine), because it reduced the itches far better than dyphen.

We once found huge bottles of Methadone left out the back in an open bin, with at least an inch left in the bottom. Loads of empty diaz boxes too, with peoples names still on them. They weren't disposing of the clinical waste correctly, naughty!

I have just got 100 tablets of 30mg co-codamol prescribed for a sliped disc, i have been sticking to the two every four hours as it says on packet and the feeling is quite nice. What kind of efect would taking four be ? Or do you have to take lots.
I just want a nice high not get smashed

Depends on tolerance, your ability to metabolise codeine, how full your stomach is, etc.

Having said that, if two make you feel pleasant then four will probably give you the high you're looking for.

Just remember not to make a habit of it; your tolerance will rapidly go up, meaning you'll need to take more just to counteract the pain, never mind get high. Paracetamol is very rough on your liver and you don't want to be downing 2g in one go on a regular basis.

Is a CWE basicly diluting in water and filtering ( through a coffee filter or something similar), then drinking the water?

I cant understand why doctors prescribe paracetamol. It is fucking awful toxic stuff compared to straight codeine or DHC. I guess it is to make sure you dont have any fun while taking it.

Codeine

Could I drink 250mgs codeine now, then later on drink 350mgs and get high again / stay high?

Simple question could be found online but while we're here: How long does codeine normally last? OK to drink on it? (I tend to drink alot) and (I'm not but) would taking an SSRI that inhibits CYPblahblah enzyme (or is it that other 1?) stop me from feeling anything on codeine?

Hmmm... redosing with codeine doesn't work all that well. Even if you wait for over 6 hours the best you'll get is a far milder buzz than the one you got originally. Also, you'll probably notice the histamine reactions a lot more than said buzz if you do end up re-dosing.

As for drinking, we all know it's not best practice to drink with opioids of any kind (RIP Hank Williams), but I and plenty of others do it regardless. With codeine it shouldn't be a problem however, providing you're not drinking to comatose levels of course.

As for all that enzyme jazz; hey, you're talking to a car thief here. I'm sure somebody with more knowledge of the workings of their liver would glad to give you some advice on that one.

I've never got anything from codeine thanks to a high opiate tolerance from heroin usage and I'd need 600mg to just reduce withdrawal symptoms but 250mg of codeine seems a lot for an opiate naive person.
I highly doubt a dose of that size would be fatal but it still seems like a lot...
I'd check with someone more knowledgeable on codeine as I've only every used it to slightly alleviate heroin withdrawal
