Cocodamol - The drug of the credit crunch? plus other codeine/dihydrocodeine queries

I like a bit of pod tea myself, I went though abit of a phase with it the past few summer/autumn seasons, godsdamn loads of the things grow round here.

Although I have never tasted ANYTHING more abominable than tea made from just a bagfull of fresh pods, boiled up, well apart from the unfortunate experience of accidentally tasting a thiol derivative, but thats just overkill as far as nastiness goes.

Have to hold my nose and my stomach in to stop me retching it up every time.
 
Does anyone know how much chloroform is roughly in a 200ml bottle of "Care Codeine Linctus"?

Used to down bottles of all kinds of codeine linctus, however am slightly more weary now.

Its not in the active ingredients but it says it does contain chloroform but no specified dosage and wiki says a fatal oral dose is 10mls. That appears to be the only nasty in there.

I've only topped up my phosphate dose with it by around max of 200mgs linctus so should be fine but would like to know how much a bottle contains should I ever revert back to downing bottles of the stuff.
 
Aye I was on a few bottles a day, just never realized chloroform was fatal at 10mls!

It was displayed on the shelf also of a very strict pharmacy and was given to me no questions asked whatsoever!! She did notice my hand was in plaster so maybe that swung in my favor.

The ingredients are:

Active, per 5ml: codeine phosphate 15mg

The other ingredients are: citric acid (E330), lemon oil terpeneless, chloroform. ethanol, benzoic acid solution (E210, propylene glycol), invert syrup, quinoline yellow solution compound (E104, E110) sucrose 4g per 5ml, alcohol 1.8% volume and purified water.

Certainly one of the nicer variety's of linctus, taste and ingredient wise just a shame about the chloroform however I do recall it being in all the other bottles downed over the years.

Anything else to be concerned about? From what I can make of it is basically preservatives, E numbers and shit to make it nice and gooey with some alcohol too.

I did have that horrible nostalgic feeling when deciding to buy a bottle that I previously said to myself before that I wouldn't do! 80mls to top up my codeine dose is actually quite tasty :)

If I was gulping 400mg from the bottle then i might have a change in heart!

Luckily this brand is the nicer tasting stuff thank god! There's one particular brand that's so foul and contains a lot of nasty crap.
 
Might have to get a day rider bus pass, and make a day of chemist shopping to see how many I can get!

Already had two bottles in a week from the same strict chemist, luckily I was served by different pharmacists!

Will try my luck end of this week but imagine I'll get turned down seeing as I have a memorable face and a cast!!!

Will have to say I dropped it, left it on the bus or simply wanted one more bottle for the future lol. Its summer and dry cough season too! Any pharmacist knows repeated purchases are being abused as one bottle taken as prescribed should last ages and if it hasn't sold your dry cough then you normally get told too see your doctor.
 
Electric coffee grinders: the perfect labour saving tool for CWEs.

I'd wondering about it for a while but I didn't think it would break up the tabs properly, or damage the grinder, or both.

Decided to go for it: in goes 64 cocos and a bit of warm later. Turn on and agitate for a few seconds and walla. The best co-codomol mixture you could hope for.

Only drawbacks:
- use a drip tray because my grinder tends to leak a little.
- you have to clean the grinder after (still beats crushing pills)
- may may invalidate your grinder warranty.

No more crushing pills for me! Know I just need a way to get the tablets out the blister packs faster.
 
Got ridiculous tryn to get served paramol, 5 chemists within a handy walk, tried to keep them in circulation. They all got wise eventually. Tried online for a whie, then let it go. Even Dhidro-codeine can become fairly addictive in the logterm
 
I think i am going to buy some paramol soon to do a CWE, how many boxes will i need? whats a good starting dose?

5 chemists is nothing. I must have had about 30 chemists in circulation when I was taking 2 packs every 2 days.

Another thing that makes me miss my car :(
 
I take 400mgs tram daily, after about 2 hours i dose 400mg codeine. Would you guys say this is the optimum time to dose the codeine? Given from my knowledge taken at the same time they compete for the same enzymes/receptors or something?

A lucky boy has just got 100 30mg DHC's and is planning the usual tram then DHC thing!

Now I haven't had DHC in a while and know its approximately twice as strong as codeine (some say 1.5 times stronger) I'm not debating that anyway..Just asking how much DHC I should dose after how many hours of 400mg ingestion of tram?

I've also been thinking the Tramadol/benzo's is taking away elements/potency of the codeine high, is this a possibility? Tramadol more so the benzo's just dull the high.

Responses appreciated soon anyway as I've swallowed the tram and will be waiting for the perfect redose DHC time. ;)
 
dhc is not twice as strong as codeine at all it's about 1.5x but i still find that i take about the same dose i would with codeine

LOL i knew you would be the first to reply about that like before ;)

As said I'm not getting into debates about the potency of DHC>Codeine I agree its roughly 1.5x stronger but am not currently in the position to say as I've not used for so long. A lot of people claim it to be twice as strong so I've just taken that on board as well as 1.5x stronger bracketed which is probably more on the money.

Its also an individual thing and whether your talking about euphoric effects or analgesic.


Evad you take the same DHC dose as codeine? So assuming DHC is 1.5x as strong as Codeine thats the equivilant of 600mg of Codeine. Is this alone?

400mg's of codeine doesn't get me where I'd like to be (But is near the ceiling dose to my understanding, others will say its higher but for me personally anything greater than 400mg is unpleasant) including 400mgs tram, benzo's, diphenhydramine and baclofen which I've read greatly increases the sedation of codeine and probably DHC.

I'm experienced in all of these combination so don't go repeating unless you have enough tolerence.:) And even then tread cautiously, this is just what I feel safe doing.

As I'm already tolerant too benzos, I might leave them out this time, many report it clouds the high but I've always found it a nice touch, specially to decrease speedy effects and get a nod on.
 
DHC is more potent but I wouldn't say it's even 1.5x on a mg for mg level, it's just a different, stronger high. Another plus about DHC is that it seems to be far more effective with redosing.

I would agree that's its more potent but on a totally different level. I find there's a sweet spot with DHC too much and for me its not a nice feeling.

Codeine provides me more euphoria even on a long term basis whereas DHC is more groggy. I think I just prefer natural opiates as opposed to semi-synthetic opioids with the exception of Tramadol which is barely considered an opioid on here.

I'm sure I will have plenty fun with DHC and report back later maybe ;)

Quoting an old post I know, but if one goes to the indepedent(asian usually) chemists you're more likely to find good stuff like Codeine Linctus and Phenergan(Promethazine).
 
Codeine does nothing for me anymore. And that only really leave DHC. No source to anything other than Paramol at £5 a box, and thats not really enough. Time for a break I think. Not that I've been caning it particular. About once a week for a couple of months.
