Your opinion might be to feel that way, but regardless, the law is the law.

If a medical procedure comes out which will aid the government in their war against drugs, then I can imagine that they will embrace it. I understand your point that what we put into our own bodies should be an individual's choice, not something dictated by the government, but unfortunately that substance is one they don't want you to have.

In addition, I see this as a great too in preventing drug addiction, not necessarily for deterring recreational drug use, although I'm not sure how they would distinguish among the two users.
 
Before I even heard of this I thought about if something like this was possible. One problem with this specific one is there is nothing stoping the person from switching to another drug. It doesn't make an addict immune to adictive behavior it just makes them imune to one specific drug.

I don't agree with this form of treatment.

I don't think that they want or need to make that distinction. The mainstream view is that any recreational use of an illegal drug is inappropriate abuse.

As an aside...what exactly does "a more stable version of the cocaine molecule" mean? There's one cocaine molecule, a different "version" is a different chemical altogether.
 
^ I agree with you that the government wouldn't make the distinction, the simple act of using a drug is enough for them. I was just agreeing with PA's view that not all users should be punished by a mandatory drug vaccine.
 
This should only be given to addicts who agree to take it. Giving this new found random drug to NOT ONLY people but children/babies - who knows what side effects or problems they could face with this?
 
This treatment reminds me of the book 'A Clockwork Orange' where the government provides a treatment that makes it impossible for the main character to commit any more violent acts. In the end though it is a massive failure and the moral of the story is:

No matter how much the government tries to change us they will never take away our primal instincts and desires.

There was an injection available here in the UK i remember people talking about but some guy died from it

What it done was removed all the nicotine from your brain in one shot but sposivly that is why it was so dangerous because it was taking it out of you too quick

I dont know if its still on the go or what

Anyway on topic thats some interesting news .. what a combo eh, the cold virus and cocaine he he , nice one
