so, after years of opiate potentiation, i finally happen to read the directions on the tagamet bottle%)

"do not take more than two tablets in a 24 hour period"8o

i'm wondering:

A) i've used large amounts of cimetidine for large stretches of time to make opiates more fun/cost-effective. could i have damaged my stomach? throat or intestine lining?
B) if so, how reversible is this, and how soon does it reverse? i've never had heartburn or anything
C) is there a ceiling dose? is taking more than a couple tablets totally unnecessary?
D) is there "rebound" stomach acidity which could also do damage?

I've been wondering this myself, but have been unable to find any conclusive info on the topic. I've taken as much as 2000mg of Cimetidine (10 tablets) in a 12 hour period, and a few times I've done this for two or three days in a row.

I've never perceived any adverse effects, other than mild to moderate rebound acid reflux/stomach acidity. But I still wonder whether I could be causing some kind of damage.

So, I defintely notice some rebound acidity, but nothing too bad. I also feel that after six or so tablets I don't get any more appreciable (potentiation related) effects, but that's not to say there is in fact an actual ceiling.

Okay you aren't saying how many mg you have taken. I think prescription wise, they go to 800mg, and usually OTC is 200mg. 400mg won't kill you, they just cover their asses.

up to 800mg at a time when i acquire opies. guess it's not too bad if it's prescribed at 800mg

I thought they only potentiated benzos?

I take them every night with my benzos but only 1 pill. The Xanax leaflet says it increases B/A 86%.

I never feel 86% more fucked up, maybe 40% but still STRETCH THE DOLLARS

They help all eaten meds.
Might make it more effective, but not more high, if you can understand what I mean.

What cimetidine does, for label use, is unregulates the amount of T-cell's in your bloodstream that act on the "acid reflux" if im not mistaken. I have used cimetidine off label, with great results, for curing warts (in doses of 800mg and higher, daily for months at a time)

edit: on the wart issue, it works better than any wart medicine on the market (cream, saav, nitrogen freeze burn thing) it took about 2 months of daily use but nothing worked quite as well, and painless too, if you've ever had a wart and tried to remove it you know what im talking about...you cut them off they grow back, weird fucking things.

Wow thanks for this thread and the knowledge/links in it. I've had that nagging "don't be a fucking moron, do some research before you start taking handfuls of tagamet" voice henpecking me the last few days =D

If you like Vicodin, get prepared to fall back in LOVE with it! Cimetidine FTW!!!!11!

^ if anybody is newly coming upon this info,

and haven't already learned this lesson (lol..),

when you re-fall-in-love, keep the potentiation (cimetidine) to the weekends so it's sustainable, with your normal dose the weekdays
