Cigarettes...

but not sought after for its psychoactive effects, highly somatoxic, and really not the goal of smoking, except to some South American shaman high off his ass on jimson weed, 5-meo, and ayahuasca

A fair amount of posts in this thread prove it is very well sought after for its psychoactive effects, even if its only at first.

Once the rush fades away, it is still used for psychoactive effects. When someone smokes a cigarette to wake up a little on a long day, to calm down or relax, or to help concentrate - these are all psychoactive effects. It also triggers the reward center of the brain with a release of dopamine. All of these are sought out psychoactive effects, although subtle ones.

I have no idea what somatoxic means. Maybe you mean somatic?

Worst.Drug.Delivery.Method.Ever. Cigarettes are like "dirtier" than any other drug out there... I'd seriously consider scraping/smoking the back of used nicotine patches over ever smoking cigarettes again. Urggh, my lungs are -fukked- after 20+ years of that idiocy.

somatoxic= toxic to the body, soma, Greek meaning body NO i dont mean somatic

ok, read read my earlier post with basically is in opposition to the general consensus of the thread. its my opinion but i think i make a valid point. my latter post is kind of ridculous if you dont take into account the longer one on page two in which i explain my postion on the matter.
you dont need to read me the textbook answer on nicotines DA response either, so many things outside the realm of psychoactive drugs trigger a DA release in the mammalian brain.

Well excuse me for not knowing what the fuck I was saying! Next time remind me to shove my foot in my mouth before you stone me like a cheap whore in 30 B.C

That was just an opinion, but its solid fact that nicotine is used for psychoactive purposes, and has been for a very very long time.

Also, mind telling me what non-psychoactive substances release dopamine? If its not a chemical or substance, it has no bearing on this discussion.

Yea we've learned everything we need to know already about neurochemistry. AND THATS A FACT. Science is full of opinion and hearsay.
Fact from Latin facere- to make, Facts are made up, manmade, subject to fallacy.

Who are you to say what is and isnt allowed on this thread. Dont memberate.

Eating, sleeping, fucking, playing sports, participating in 'wholesome' activities are all know to release DA. In fact its the drugs you should be suspicious about.

Shit isn't a psychoactive substance. Not a foreign one. You know when you occasionally like once a month sit on the toilet and something comes out, how good it feels?

That's that reward system firing, bitch! It's telling you to do it again. Or when on a fucking super hot day and you're thirsty... you take that sip or 6 of beer. It feels fucking fantastic to quench your thirst. Why? So you'll do it again chap! That's right. *nods* So you'll do it again.

How in the hell can argue that nicotine is used for psychoactive purposes? With a completely nonsensical argument, thats how.

You're just being a defensive douche bag now. Nicotine is psychoactive. People seek the effects of nicotine. Nicotine is sought after as a psychoactive. Hows this refutable?

"you dont need to read me the textbook answer on nicotines DA response either, so many things outside the realm of psychoactive drugs trigger a DA release in the mammalian brain."

Whats it matter to this argument if non-chemical substances release dopamine as well? The point still remains that releasing dopamine = psychoactive chemical.

I said they had no bearing on this discussion, because non-chemical substances don't.

Just the fact that nicotine is a chemical substance that releases dopamine makes it psychoactive. I point this out, and you retort with something that doesn't make sense in the context of the argument.

methane isn't psychoactive, neither is H2S and other compounds found on shit.
anyway, none of this takes off the fact that
ya sorry for the neologism i forgot this language was drier than my grandmothers pussy
LMAO!!1111

its the mundanity of your argument that makes me want to alter its context. yes nicotine is psychoactive, we all know, is that necessarily why it is used, in my opinion no.

this isnt your godamn discussion, many threads on this site divert from the OP's original intent in creating them and after that actuallyu become much more interesting than they originally were.

im not being a defensive douche, youre being a fucking whig, remember its you who began this little antagonistic rapport between us.

And im philosophically intolerant to your whole (everybodys) cause effect way of thinking, not only is it dry, it stinks of foolish credulity, ie. beleif in absolute truth of 'facts', causes, etc. The realm of science being an Absolute ground upon which everything rests. Sorry, i disagree with that and ive a right to my opinion.

And specifically cigarettes are so integral in a cultural sense that i think theres greater forces at work here, not just neurons firing. I bet many arrays of action release DA in a similar way, but they still aint fuckin cigarettes.

I oppose your reductionism.

Sorry guys I'm back I was busy whoring myself out to the other threads.

Can you guys stop arguing like little pussy fagfuckers and get along?
