Christmas build up n Birthdays coming up :) v theres always birthdays <3

I'm not Christian so Christmas Day isn't a big deal. My kids are young teens so the mystery of Santa is a little put on. They are used to dividing their lives between different parts of the family. Sometimes my ex wife will join us, other years we keep it seperate. They live at the beach so Xmas is normally surfing and beers rather than carols and mulled wine.

Being French Christmas Eve is our adult tradition of champagne and oysters. Having the kids around usually cramps the nakedness that follows ;)

The kids are with their mum for Xmas day this year which is a little shit but it just means we celebrate with them on Boxing Day.

Instead of a home cooked meal we have booked at a nice restaurant and letting some one else do the clean up. It means I get to have pudding and such when I'd otherwise wouldn't bother at home because the little lady is a glutard.

Best thing about Xmas this year is I get 10 days off where we plan to go camping with the kids at Woodford folk festival and get our hippy on.

Are you and their mother separated ? When you talk about your family I always got the impression that your current wife was the mother of your children. It makes zero difference really

I don't want anything, I don't care about me - told my girlfriend that, but she can't seem to understand that concept. I would be happier for her or anybody else to save their money for themselves. I'll still get them pressies obviously.

Maybe get the chick a jacket that she spotted out ages ago.
Get my wee boy (he'll be 2 in March) his first football strip (he's pretty good, seriously, he dribbles it about I'm flabbergasted).
Get my wee Tinkerbell (my daughter who is 4) her second scooter, but a more advanced one that maybe I can even get a shot on (wink, wink).
Folks maybe a luxury hamper or something
My wee nephew (he's not even 1), dunno yet, clothes and a wee traditional wooden toy.
My sis and her hubby, tickets for something maybe? Then I can babysit my wee nephew which I will enjoy.
My uncle a litre of vodka, he likes that best..

Haha, can't believe I've told and bored everyone here with my xmas shopping list - oh aye, best get the new chick's dad something, perhaps a bottle of black sambuca.

I'm afraid the new girlfriend will go nuts and spend a fortune when there really is no need, I have no problem spending a fortune on her, but when it comes to spending money on trinkets to express my love I feel confused as to why that person thinks that is the best thing i could have bought to show my feelings, you dig?

Why not save our money and go on a romantic trip to Paris or Florence, memories and moments that are priceless. What is it with woman and pieces of shiny elements from the Periodic Table around their necks?

Can someone explain this to me, why is that romantic when every other man is doing the same, what is unique about such a gift? Some guys get their PA to choose it for them too! I mean, come on!

I like the idea of experiences over stuff. Years ago we lobbied our kids to spend the money on a trip rather than presents and we were all happier. We also all like to build/make things and that becomes a present. One year I asked for a surfboard rack and they built me one;another year it was a wheeled stand under an outdoor firebowl so that I could actually move the damn thing.

This year we are going to spend consumermas with my mom who at 86 is insisting it will probably be her last. So I will indulge her in her love of the commercial frenzy which I normally can't stand. I will also probably gain 20 pounds being unable to resist all the treats she will insist on making.:\ But my mom is present enough for us--she's pretty unique in the world of moms/grandmas/mother-in-laws/role models. I'm making her a book with pictures from her life from 1929-now. (This has the added benefit of making me feel not quite so old even though mine would be only two decades short of hers lol). She always says that you haven't lived a full life until you are old enough to have senior citizens for kids.;)

P.S.: my birthday is four days after consumermas so that means I will be getting birthday spice cake with caramel icing made by "my mommy" just like I did at one year old!

Given I spent last Christmas mid-breakdown, I'm hoping this one is a little better.
Though given my ex left me, by text, on Christmas Day, this year can't go worse. ;)

Meh, it sounds that way, but you have no idea how much it added to my comedic repertoire for a while... "you think your day was shit?!...".
I hold no ill feeling, I just laugh at the ridiculousness of it.

Most resilient people I have ever known are those that can get comedic mileage out of their own troubles. Right on, Sprout!:)<3

What! Someone dumped you via text on chrimbo? I have no words to say to that, it's rarely I'm speechless. I know of one other person that's happened to and my reaction was pretty much the same.

Thing is though, im a bit of a lazy cunt and i'm rank rotten at DIY. I do love my gadgets and I'm ashamed to admit that i'm be a wee bit materialistic when it comes to iPads and phones and the bare essentials in life like blow up dolls etc.

However, yes, I'd much rather my partner and I, or the hareem of a lady friends that have the pleasure of meeting Mr Power Rod on a daily basis put our bucks together and do something worthwhile - whether that's a romantic weekend for two in Rome or a debauched cabin for 10 somewhere with a dungeon downstairs and a bucking bronco and a Star Wars themed orgy in full swing upstairs. It's all, about memories, like that song from the well known Andrew Loyd Webber musical 'Cats'. (Perhaps, to be boycotted now because of the scandalous decision by the Tory scumbags to fly the bastarfrom NYC to vote in The House Of Lords oer working tax credits)

24th birthday on Nov 25th! considering i was on life support a few months ago this is gonna be a veryyy welcome bday.

Personally I am not a huge fan of Xmas these days. It was easier when I was working full time so I had plenty of cash to buy presents with but now I'm on benefits things are a lot harder.
My family make me cry with their generosity towards me.
This year they have bought me a new laptop to replace this one which is around 10years old.
I went to stay with them last year for a proper family xmas but this year I am having a quiet one at home with my friend. Family are coming to visit & deliver gifts on Dec 20th so will be great to see them plus my mum always beings a xmas food hamper which is greatly appreciated.
This is my first xmas for a while where I have avoided spending all my cash on heroin so I can actually buy something for everyone for a change.

Good man, imagine how good you will feel when your family open up their gifts that you saved for? Worth it I would say mate.

For sure mate. I normally feel so guilty having nothing for them so this year I am going to feel so much better knowing that I haven't allowed my selfish drug habit to spoil xmas. I can get heroin all year round so I'm sure I can go without it for a while to ensure I can let my family know that I do actually care and love them.
