Christianity working out for anyone else?

i feel like there can be power in anything that people have faith in, so christianity or any religion for the most part can have good results.

like i think some of the basic teachings of christ, just generally being a good person has results where spiritual things can become evident to some people, or maybe they just feel good because they are being good if they aren't getting any spiritual signs. sometimes people have faith with out really having a physical reason.

there is a song on one of modern christian pop music stations, i think it's called k pop.. they say "there is power in his name". i believe that meditating on or living with the power of christ is real. it's very subtle and doesn't always occur other than a feeling, but i believe it does manifest in some situations... i don't think god or the universe wants to prove it's doing something strange that we don't know to everyone. whatever it is that is a power likes to see some people hanging... it's nice when people can still believe in something positive like christ and not have any tangible reasons why.

on the other end of this, i feel like evil satanists could be like "i was getting signs from god".. i dunno. i just feel like all my connections personally comes from something good and accepting of all that is not evil. i heard this one dude talking about how ancient religions believe that there is no pure evil, it's called "isfet" and that it's just people being influenced to do negative things because of their conditions and they can be changed. pretty sure that's the way things are... i don't find any signs from god to really be consistent. if someone is claiming they are getting signs from god that are making them evil, i think they are interpreting wrong and probably not 100% on a higher level. i would see that as suffering, and not something that needs to exist in the world. i don't think there is any reason for people to experience pain on levels of violence and what not.. obviously death is an experience to deal with whether it be from disease, old age or an accident, it something that will bring us down in some ways, but i don't think people need all the terror in the world to really experience what god or the universe wants us to feel. i believe or would like to believe a lot of this is a mistake. the terror some people bring to the world really has nothing to do with me in terms of how some people say everything is one.

i've definitely spoke this subject on reddit before.. i don't think i'm in this specific thread, but i always say this same stuff... part of me is a strong believer. i have other stories of how following the teachings of christ help shape positive supernatural things in my life... i don't know if they are suitable for this thread, but i will leave it at what i wrote.

Good works don't get you into heaven.

Maybe not but we have Jesus words, which he paid a great price to give us.

"Not everyone who says to me 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of My Father who is in heaven . . ."
Matthew 7:21

Do you know his will have you an under standing of Who Jesus is and repented of your sins.( yes Christian still sin and we ask for forgiveness of our transgressions)
and have you prayed for him to be your Lord and Savior and really understood who Christ was. Do you truley have faith and called out to Christ to be Your Lord and Savior. Have you repented, truely. Do you know your a sinner ( blame those two from The Garden of Eden)? That you will go to Hell if you don't accept and have faith in Christ to have died for your sins? Do you accept that without Jesus you will burn in Hell forever.( under the age of accountability or mentally retarded excluded). That he is the Messiah and The only Son of ALMIGHTY God. That he rose after 3 days and will return again. Do you believe in the Holy trinity? Do you understand That Christ has always existed but was made man while being fully God by The Holy Spirit.
That Jesus lived a perfect life and was sacrificed as a substitution for those who would believe and have continued faith. Do honest and truley Know and believe with all your heart That Jesus is the Only Way to Heaven.
That works will not get you into Heaven. Read a study Bible, a good one. KJV, NKJV, ESV, ASB or maybe the NI V but there are is issues with it. Good works are not a way to heaven. Neither is any other religion. Not Catholic because of many reasons. Good works will follow but they have no part is salvation.

Do you like me constantly; have God not far from you thoughts?
That's because a true Christian is indwelt by The Holy Spirit.
always? Do You love God( Father, Son, and Holy spirit?) with all your heart and more than anything or anyone? Have you truley repented?

Once a person is saved there should be ( it may take time) a difference in the person.

That is true what you wrote a person who is truley saved will be more and more less likely to sin and wish to follow the words of The Father( God The Father) To be try to obey and follow the commandments. The one in the protestant Bible( The Cattholics eliminated the 2nd one which about not praying to idols and Idolatry. ( praying to dead humans, angels, anything that isn't God) they split the 10 commandment into two. Idolatry is sin punishable by damnation unless one repents.
A Christian should strive to follow the will of the Father(God). One should be a new and changed person.( It can take a while as with me but I am working on that.) People who truley believe should be over time tranformed to more like Christ and not sinful.

Sola Scriptura: by scriptura alone.

Yes I am familiar with that. I believe he is speaking to the word of Faith People and false teachers and liars who claim to have powers and divine revelation.
This is after the Book of Revelation was shown in a Vision to the Apostle John on The prison Island of Patmos where he was exhaled. After the book Revelation. The Canon of scripture is finished.

¹⁸For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things. God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
¹⁹And if any man shall take away from the words of this book of prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
Revelation 22: 18-19 KJV

There are 2 more closing verses. Then the Canon of Scripture and all prophecy and books of the Bible and divine revelation are done. No more prophecy or divine revelation. No more books of the Bible. 66 books in the true Bible. Several good translations: KJV, NKJV, ESV, NASB. although not perfect the NIV is OK. However the main Study Bibles of this Version by Zondervan have issues in places. Even I caught them.

The Church age was basically going and this is the last. The Book of Revelation.

Also you should add context. To Matthew7:21

²²Many will say to me in that day Lord, Lord, did we not prophosey in your name? and in thy name drive out demons and thy name preform miracles? ²³Then I will tell them plainly, ' I never knew you. Away from me you evildoers!
Matthew 6: 22-23. NIV

The apostolic gift of signs and wonders, casting out demons, speaking in tongues, healing people, prophecy ect. All the powers or gifts given by the Holy Spirit to the 12 true Apostles were gone when they died and the church age began to really begin and those powers were gone.
There are people from Heretical Pentecostal Word of Faith Movement who, think or usually lie that they have The Apostolic gifts of proofs that were given to the 12 Apostles are gone when they died. This was as The Church age began. They lie or are decieved( like many of the greedy liars on TV) that they can heal the sick, cast out demons, speak in tongues( which they don't even really know what that truley was) they tell false prophesies( the prophets are no more. These people have no powers. They don't teach The Word of God. They are liars and deceivers. They claim Devine revelation: They Lie

Every book in the New Testament in except Philemon warns or talks about false teachers or deceivers.
This is addressing false teachers and deceivers like In The Word of Faith Movement who Falsely claim to have The Apostolic powers given By Holy Spirit to the 12 Apostles and they are dead for over 1900 years.

Benny Hinns, Kenneth Copeland, Joyce Meyer( women are not permitted to be ministers.) Teaching little kids in Sunday school is different.
Any of these deceivers who claim to speak directly to Jesus or God. Any who claim to have super natural powers; such as healing, phophesy, casting out demons( we have no power over them other than prayer to have them leave. All prayer must go through Jesus Christ because he is the one mediator between man and God.) All of the none sense powers that these Word of faith and other cult types claim are lies. Those powers are gone. There are no modern day prophets. They are not speaking to God or Jesus. They are not receiving any Devine revelation. Their are the greedy Lying False Teachers and unfortunately a growing number of people deceived by them.

The test of a Prophet in ancient times was this. If some came around saying that they had a divine prophesy or dream( different if they were possessed or were mentally or insane and this was known and just disregarded) However if a sane person claimed to have divine prophecy:
If they prophesied and it did not come exactly true, then they were killed. Yep every true prophesy from the God would come true exactly.
False prophets were weeded out but later on not so much. But originally in Biblical times.

Also a person will change over time if they are truley born again and will be more and more like the example The Son of God, Jesus Christ set.

greg abbott, republican, is the governor of the state of texas.

he's put 19,000 immigrants on buses and shipped them to cities all over the u.s.

"As a practicing Roman Catholic, Abbott often points to his faith as a building block of his political values. Religion and politics often being inseparable in Texas, the governor routinely takes to social media calling for prayers and quoting scripture." (source: the texas tribune)

this is mike johnston, the mayor of denver - one of the cities to which greg abbott has shipped immigrants - and a city which has received over 40,000 immigrants from states who don't want to deal:

does greg abbott or mike johnston sound more like a christian to you?

O who will give me a voice that I may cry aloud to the whole world.
That God the all highest.
is in the deepest abyss within us
and is waiting for us to return to him
O my God how does it happen in this poor old world
that you are so great and yet nobody finds you
that you call so loudly and yet nobody hears you
that you are so near and yet nobody feels you
that you give yourself to everybody and nobody knows your name

Quoting scriptures and saying we are a Christian doesn't make us one. If we say we are following Jesus it doesn't mean we are.

"You will recognize them by their fruit. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?"
Matthew 7:16

Quoting scriptures and saying we are a Christian doesn't make us one.

indeed.

i've said it before but when somebody spends time telling me how much of a christian they are, i wonder who they're really trying to convince - me, or themself.

You will recognize them by their fruit.

indeed.

on the other hand “no man comes to the father but by me” is the teaching in Christianity that at the end of the day it doesn’t matter how evil or altruistic you were in life, the only thing that matters re getting into heaven is weather you beleieve Jesus was the son of god that died for your sins and accepted him as your savior.

You’ve never sinned your life and spent your entire life in service of others but you don’t believe that god had a son that he had to send to earth to have crucified to undo original sin? Burn in hell forever then?

Spent your whole life torturing and raping ppl to death and accept Jesus 5 minutes before your execution? Heaven.

Christianity did not invent the concept of being empathetic or a good person. So when I hear shit like “I generally agree with the teachings of Jesus” I hear that as “the dying for our sins part is batshit crazy but Jesus preached good things”. But Jesus should not be given credit for inventing morality because he didn’t invent any of these concepts

Yes he did, because it was Because all of Creation and everything in all of existence was created By God.
He creates beings but there is nothing God does not know. These created beings were taught good and learned evil and even got creative with their evil.

Evil and Sin Originated with a perfect being who had Freewill and then through his pride he sinned. Lucifer Sinned first and wast cast to the Earth with about 1/3 of the angels who reballed, Lucifer a Created being that was created to serve God was enamored by his own beauty and splendor and Pridefully wanted to upsurp ALMIGHTY GOD, WRONG.

IN Biblical( THE WORD OF GOD) terms; sin is anything that goes against what God has deemed to be a sin and also by not doing what God has said to do. God the father has communicated this, His Son spent over Three years teaching and preaching; while preforming miracles. Then the writing and this was communicated through the third member of The Holy Trinity ( God the Father, God the Son( Jesus) and Holy Spirit). The Holy Spirit. The divinely inspired the Writings of which would comprise, The Bible which was put together,Through the work of The Holy Spirit.

There are some obvious bad Translations and deliberately bad translations( The New World Translation), the one the Jehovah's Witnesses deliberately changed in ways to fit their cult) It was written like many other Translations but deliberately changed in many parts of the Text to fit their cult beliefs and deny that Christ as God. The second member of the eternal Trinity that is God. Eternity past, present, and future eternity. Holy Trinity; that is Three eternal and equal spiritual beings whom comprise The Only God. However the three are equal, however Jesus is eternally submissive to God the Father. The Holy Spirit helps and inspires people to turn from sin and seek Christ( The Father recieves worship through people praying to and through Jesus Christ. However, they( all 3) are God themselves. When God refers to" other gods" in is in lower case 'g' it is to symbolizes they are not god's but are falsely precieved to be.

Before we go on. Everyone has at least one sinful thought and sinful thought is a sin. Saying that their are people without sin is a sin. ( THOSE WHO ARE BORN AND INCAPABLE OF KNOWING, THE MENTALLY RETARDED ARE NOT HELD TO THE SAME STANDARD AND CHILDREN SIN BUT, YOU MUST REACH THE AGE OF ACCOUTABILITY, WHICH ONLY GOD KNOWS The AGE OF ACCOUNTABILITY, TO BE JUDGED).

We all have a sinful nature and GOD sees that and holds everyone to The Standard He holds himself as in the sinless life of Jesus who was fully God and fully man. Who died on Cross as a sacrifice to appease God the Father of His wrath against the sin of man and more specifically those who would believe. Jesus Christ is the only son of God, and lived as a man, while also being fully God. That why it is faith.

By the way not believing; you are committing an absolutely Damning sin. That is if you die in your sins you will be judged By Christ and thrown into your place in Lake of Fire alone in Abosolute pitch Black for all eternity and no escape. There are worms and maggots there who will not die. They didn't sin and are there at least in some parts just to make Hell that much Worse. When Christ comes back it won't be save, actually the very opposite, written is scripture.

So not believing is a sin, and anything God deems to be a sin or a sinful thought is a sin. If you have disagreed with what God has written in an accurate as possible translation of The Bible aka the Word of God; that is a big sin. ( THE HOLY SPIRIT INSPIRED APPOX. 39 MEN GIVE OR TAKE TO WRITE SCRIPTURE AND THE HOLY SPIRIT HAS MADE SURE IT IS ACCURATE, there may be slight non essential differences when translating Ancient Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic( ancient?) The Hebrew language has not really changed very much. English certainly has.

All men( that includes women) are liars. Meaning all have told at least one lie. God has said this and denial of this is a sin. Denial of any part of the word of God is a Sin. Not believing in Jesus having died on The Cross for sinners( everyone who will believe and repent) is a sin. Any thought that is, as God has defined as sin, is a sin.. Their no is righteous people in God's eyes who have not repented of sin( yes Christians still go but God has grace, but still may punish and we ask for forgiveness through Christ for our transgressions).

Only those who accept the free gift of Salvation will escape the eternal death, which is suffering in The Lake of Fire for ever and ever and no escape.

Unbelief is a sin that will damn all who don't believe. Not believing it is a sin. Adam and Eve passed the sin nature to all humans.

Accepting that you are a sinner and that you need Jesus who is the only mediator between man and God the Father; is the only path. The narrow path spoken of in scripture.

Before I go any further; not believing everything that God has
commanded us to do and not doing was he has commanded us to do is a sin. Everyone has sinned at least once( don't bring up the mentally retarded). Questioning what God has said( as in not believing or disagreeing is a sin).

There are no sinless people( Jesus was fully God and fully man when he came to Earth) as you tried to describe. Any thought that is sinful( such as lust is a sin) There is so much that is a sin. A true believer will seek to sin as little as possible, but God has grace for those that believe in Christ, have repented and are trying to keep his commandments. They also must pray and basically ask Christ to be their Lord and Savior. Good has grace for those that are saved. That is not a license to sin, though and a true believer knows and understands this.

The old testament times which obviously don't apply to us; had a different way to escape Hell and live in Heaven for all eternity. God did tell the prophets and it was in the sacred writing exactly when and where the Messiah would come. They rejected him. They wanted a different messiah than who God sent and they didn't( most), believe or recognize Jesus Christ as their Messiah. How did that work out?

¹⁶ For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life ¹⁷For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. ¹⁸Whoever believes in him is not condemned. JOHN 3:16-18, NIV, it is the translation that I had on hand and besides the King James Version was written 4 times and the final one in 1611. Shakespeare was still alive. English has changed but The King James Version is great but there are in this case, ok translations and other good translations.

So God created everything, knows everything and sees and Knows all.

God didn't create sin, However he did Create a perfect being who had Freewill and used it to create sin. But God all knowing and all seeing; for his purposes and plans allowed it to happen. You of course will not read not believe and question everything. So the answers too your mocking and not believing self can best be answered by getting a Good Study Bible. Fellow Californian and long time minister and a highly respected theologian has a very good one, John MacAurthur. He is the minister of the Church that sued L.A. and California over the fines they got over not closing their doors during Covid. They won an $800,000 Judgement. Haha, they sued and won against LA and California, aw yeah.

HE IS NOT; a give me your money and God will make you rich and healthy and give you everything you want:He is not a Decieving, FALSE TEACHER AS ALL THE WORD OF FAITH, BLASPHEMOUS HERETICS OF THE PENTECOSTAL CHARISMATIC MOVEMENT ARE.

He is a non-denominational Protestant minister who only preachers what can be truley learned by understanding and studying what the Bible truley and what God truley says, and means.
Also never take versus out of context. There are other good study Bibles but you don't care, but I hope someday before you die you truley repent of your sins and accept Christ as your Savior.

The path to salvation is; accepting you are a sinner.
2. Knowing you are going to hell without truely repenting of your sins.
3. Understanding and truley believing that only believing inJesus Christ as the one and only son of God. That he was God( one of the three separate spiritual beings that are God and Are all Three comprise the one and only true Living God. ( THAT IS WHY IT IS CALLED FAITH)
Believing that Jesus Christ died on the Cross as a sacrifice to appease the Wrath of God and he died and rose 3 days later. That, this free gift must be accepted to enter the kingdom of God. One who truley believes will have their sins forgiven and be right in the eyes of God. One who truley believe ( it can take time)
But they will be changed and truley want to be holy someday in eternity and wish to try to be more like Christ. Blameless in the eyes of God. We still sin but have the holy spirit indwelt in us we( Christians)and will seek God and want to change and sin less and less and be as much like Christ as we can. No one is or can be sinless. That if we are truley saved we seek not the approval of man, but of God.

The Greatest Commandment: You shall have no other gods before me. ( other than The Holy Trinity there are none)
You must love God with all your heart and soul; above anyone or anything else.

Repenting, believing that you are saved by faith and grace. You must accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior if you wish to escape Hell and spend eternity in Paradise( Heaven). One who is truley saved will try to keep God commandments and seek to know and worship God. There has been a noticeable change in me, IRL.

When sniveling little mockers of the Bible say judge not lest ye be judged. They say that about everything and everytime they do to try and shut Christians down. That verse and others like it; are about Hipocracy. Don't judge someone when you are doing the same thing.
For example if you are secretly an adulterer; then don't judge those who are adulterous. That is hypocrisy.

Humans have as sinful nature and we have that because of those two( Adam and eve)
in the Garden of Eden.

Unlike islam; ( in countless ways) but in this case Christianity can be shared and preached. But reading and understanding the Bible, you learn, that most will reject it and you can't force it on people.

You can't like in Islam have a theocracy. That is not Biblical. You can use some basic ideas or ideals but church and state should be separated to protect the church. Actually all beliefs. Religion is voluntary and unlike Islam, true Christians know you can't force it but you can't oppress it either.
Because government is the biggest threat to man. Christianity and Catholicism are two different religions. The Council of Trent and their beliefs go against the true Bible.
But they are free to have their religion. But study history and look at the crusades( 1 to 9 million dead)
The inquisition.

Protestants burned at the stake for translating the Bible. By Catholics so as to hide from the people; their lies and preversion of scripture.
The printing press and more access to the Bible along of course with Martin Luther and The 95 Theses, nailed to a door led to The Protestant Reformation. Please don't confuse the two.

It is funny Lucid, most people ignore Christianity that don't believe. It is only the atheists that deep down inside have doubts and are scared they are wrong; that always keep trying to convince themselves that they are right. They try always to get others to agree to assure themselves. Most Atheists or Agnostics even don't care and ignore. But the ones always trying to go after and say things like if a person is good and why this or that and mock Christians over and over out of the Blue and constantly are the ones that doubt, their lack of faith. The ones that ignore are the ones sure of themselves( they have a right to be wrong and..........)
But the ones like you, are deep down and won't admit it, are truley insecure and trying to fill that void.

Me, I am actually happy and have been changing how I deal and interact with people and my no so good and mean nature. My main issue is I don't want people to confuse my beliefs with; and well The Catholic church doesn't stand for much anymore, but I don't like it when Bible and Gospel believing Protestants get Confused with Catholicism. The Pope and The Vatican are less than worthless to real Christians.

I await your next post as you desperately keep trying to reassure yourself that your faith in nothing is strong. I await, you can't help yourself.

I will pray you change your mind. I be will saddened but amused as you try so desperately to try to convince and reassure yourself that you having; no faith in anything is right and that your faith in no faith is strong. I await.🙂
God Bless you all.🙂

I don't think so. I was raised Catholic and we even discussed that in religion class. The nuns suggested it was possible you would still go to heaven. I've strayed a bit ( :)) from Catholicism and I think it would be a shoo in myself. Yes, I spent the first 8 years of my education in a school uniform, the first few years of that it included knickers.
Spent your whole life torturing and raping ppl to death and accept Jesus 5 minutes before your execution? Heaven.
Some folks believe you can't get in with only good work but don't admit that bad works can surely keep you out.

Baptists I was educated by see it different. All that matters is acceptance of Jesus. They cherry pick verses that they take extremely literally. Catholics tend to be more open to interpretation and modern times.
