Christianity working out for anyone else?

I am just warning. My Father had his faults( we all do) He grew up going to a Methodist Church. Then some one told him about the gospel and he studied the Bible and agreed. I asked him once; you spent 17 years going to a Methodist Church( This was before he got old and senile) what did they say about salvation? He gave me blank stare trying to remember but they taught nothing and Gospel was nowhere to be found.
All of my grandparents lived to a ripe old age and they all attended church for over 200 years combined.

I believe ( know) that on That Great and Terrible Day of Judgement. One set will be going to Hell and the other who were real Christians will face a different judgement because they had accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savoir and repented of their sins.
They also knew of why Jesus had to die and put their faith in him. And I know what some may be thinking. Yes of course Christians sin. It is not possible to not sin. God wants perfection. That is why ALMIGHTY GOD sent his only begotten son to die on the cross. Jesus was fully God and fully man . When the Holy Spirit changed Jesus and made Mary pregnant without sex. Jesus had every function of a man but was still God. Basically God incarnate. But without his glory on display. Jesus led a sinless life as example but more importantly to be a flawless perfect sacrifice. Obedient to his father, he agreed of his own free will and He decided that he would die and for a couple of hours while Jesus was on the cross, God the Father; let all of his wrath out on Jesus Christ( as payment for all who would believe) He was a sacrifice and died for the sins of all who would repent believeand have contious faith.. A free gift for those who would truley repent of their sins; and would believe That Jesus was The Only Son of God and that he died on the Cross and 3 days later he rose from the Dead. Died and paid for the sins of all who believe. Those who would put their faith in him and pray and ask him to be their savior and trueley repent of their sin. We ask for forgiveness for our transgressions.

I have no idea what the My methodist Grand parents believed. Probably what is warned against so many times. That being a good person will get you into Heaven, nope.
Good deeds will not get you into heaven and all who were born will be judged if they have reached the age of accountability and have enough brain capacity to understand.

Understanding that all have sinned and if they reach the age of accountability and have the capacity to understand.
That they are going to Hell.
Repentance of your sins( truley repenting) believing in Jesus Christ that he died on the cross and is the only son of God and the only way to Heaven and to escape an eternity in Hell.
Accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior
It then comes down to continued faith.
However God expects Christian's to grow spiritually, learn, obey, spread the gospel. He wants us not to be like the world. Set apart but still in it. Reading and understanding, fellowship with other Christians ( going to church regularly) To not be like the world.

Yes their are things I need to work on, but I am very different than people would expect in real life. Kind, quiet but not shy, warm, patient, nice and friendly but reserved. Humble usually.
People who know me would have nothing bad to say about me. Except a certain female judge in a civil matter and few others who knew me when I was a drunk. A couple of ridiculously horrible cops. The type who give other cops a bad name. One who lied on a document and I outsmarted when I was over 4 1/2 times the legal limit. The type who has to be aggressive, the type who is a disgrace to his uniform. Which they should not be wearing. His stupidity is comical. But other than that. I am not want you would think. I am another person somewhat when in hostile territory ( online)

fair enough. there are many translations. i picked one at random.

so which part of telling people they know nothing and mocking them for being stupid is the deep respect part?

alasdair
Clearly that is not deep respect, and anybody doing that is not following the example of Jesus.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, mine just happens to be that we are all the children of a magnificent Father God, who created us in his image and I believe he will save every single one of his children without a single exception.
I believe that we are all destined to find our way back to the father in the end, but I would never treat someone who disagreed with me with anything other than love and respect.

I believe in universal reconciliation, and since coming to this understanding I have felt a feeling of love like I never have before, I know that sounds pretty corny but it is a fact.

That is the exact opposite of what the Bible says.🤣🤣😵‍💫😵‍💫🙄👹I don't know what translation you are reading, but I pray you get a good study Bible. How about The One John MacArthur put out or even tried the true Scofield study Bible. Universalism and we will all be in heaven is contrary to what Jesus Christ says, and he came to save the first time. The next time it will be to Judge. You would horrified if you had a decent translation study Bible. And fully read it and studied it. But anyone who thinks that is a for the worst shock a person caught ever have. You are lost.

You have no idea how sorry I feel for you and so many other people. If they would just study, a good study Bible. No I am not A king James Bible only type. NKJV,
KJV, ESV, NASB. Which are all excellent literal translation Bibles. I suppose out of the ones that are easier to read and that are more aimed at trying capturing what Holy Spirit meant when He guided the 39 ( give or take writers) but there are errors in the NIV Study Bibles. I have 3 NIV Zondervan study Bibles but there are errors that even I caught In this study Bible particularly, Ezekial 28: 12-19.
The dynamic more readable but less faithful to the original texts but still captures the meaning. NIV but it is a little of at times.

The first 4 are better. But NIV is ok but not as good.

That lovey dovey Universalist none sense is straight from the pits of Hell.

The Jews and Muslims are right. Jesus is a prophet of God, a messenger of God - but not God.

How often did Jesus pray TO God? Even at the cross. Jesus knew himself to be an emission, not the Source.

Jesus sits on a donkey in Jerusalem. God is Jesus, is the donkey and is Jerusalem. Big difference.
The Jews Have had bad ever since AD 70. They killed their Messiah and The Jesus in Islam ain't the same Jesus. Because Jesus Christ is The only son of God and also one of the 3 Spiritual Beings that are God.

I remember quite awhile ago there was an acronym that got started that stood for "what would Jesus do?" Students in high school wore armbands that had "WWJD" printed on them.

Jesus' teaching was about love. What's really remarkable is when we take into consideration the society he lived in during this time period. It would be hard to over estimate how controversial his comments would have been, and how much he must have enraged the political leaders in the area. It was very brave and he must have known how it was going to end. Yet he did not let it intimidate or silence him.

@Jnowhere lets try to emulate that love and teaching and try not to turn it into one of contention and hate. I'm not sure you really grasp how you are coming off but it's abrasive and divisive, and I think you are a better person than that.

"An offended brother is more unyielding than a fortified city, and disputes are like the barred gates of a citadel."
Proverbs 18:19

"Love one another, as I have loved you."
John 13:34

Back at the time of the crucifixion Jewish people were waiting for a messiah to lead them to the promised land, literally. They were not ready for the analogies and the teachings that Jesus had brought. He seemed to go against their own law. The word bad does not really fit. I mean we do that today too.

JN, I see you can see and have some insight. (IMO) it is important to not get too literal at all or we turn into the same thing. When I was in the hospital with my mother the woman in the next bed had a catholic program on with a nun doing some type of discourse. She was going over the statement "let those with ears listen". She kept chuckling as she liked that statement. But what happened is she go too literal instead of expanding on the notion of "ears" as being understanding, she launched into this whole tIrade of why a certain crucifix was not allowed in the church. I feel by being so specific and literal she lost the opportunity to speak on the concept at a deeper level.

The Jews were waiting for the Messiah to free them from the period of captivity by the Romans, they were already in the promise land. But the main point is absolutely correct. They were looking for a Messiah King, not someone to correct their errors. They mostly are still waiting, although some have recognized what they did in the past and why they were in captivity for nearly two thousand years.

Perfect CK. I love keeping the facts straight. Not a big historian but do remember the main issue at the time of Jesus and being crucified.

I just got a ticket for no registration, but I found it the very messy glove box of my car. I was going 71 or 70 mph in a 45mph zone. No speeding ticket. Have to drive to the police station and show them my registration and go next door to the court. Then nothing. Cost approx. 50 cents in gas. THANK YOU ALMIGHTY GOD
PRAISE THE LORD JESUS CHRIST!! THE ONLY SON OF ALMIGHTY GOD!!
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS!
And the very kind Police Officer was clean cut and I am not. And I have a Dui but that was 7-8 years ago. No hassles at all and I have been arrested at least 3 times in this state. And two car crashes over 20 years ago. No speeding tickets.
And a nice but messy car with obvious signs of, opps was that a mailbox.

All taking care of. I may look like a wanted poster mugshot but I am friendly, polite, and honest( usually )
Wow, a warning for going over 26mph over the limit. Thank you ALMIGHTY GOD! PRAISE JESUS!

one of god's responsibilities is getting people off speeding tickets? awesome.

he also has to ensure that one sports team wins but their opponent loses even though both teams have players who believe in him. and let's not forget making sure one actor/actress wins that award over the other actors/actresses who believe in the same god!

When Jesus comes, (I think I saw him descending slowly by the light of the moon last night); wouldn't that be magical!
I was thinking when Jesus comes; being of flesh and blood, and Bible says he/she/them will be judging the living and the dead!
Imagine the time to judge all the people ever! could take days. But when Jesus comes, and he will be judging dead people first; I figure I am safe here on Earth for awhile while those in line ahead of me ,try not to push one another while trying to enter those pearly gates. Does this judging the dead thing imply a bottleneck of dead people who are awaiting judgement in order to determine their ultitimate fate?
Is this pergatory? Just wanting to ask from someone hasn't read the bible since confirmation days.

No one knows for sure, but if what you say is true; that's gonna make those waits in the doctor's exam waiting area seem like a blink of they, no?

Judging by what criteria? This seems like a sure fire way to tie yourself up in a knot and I've never understood the temptation to follow this line of thinking, because it smacks of human thinking from conditioning by hierarchical cultural structures (judges, priests, etc), that you must follow a prescribed tightrope of action or suffer punishment.

If there isn't forgiveness and compassion, an understanding what drove people to act a certain way to begin with (did Hitler choose to be born into that path of destiny?), then what is the fucking point.. that's no system I'd ever want to be a part of in the first place. Somehow, I can't quite see Jesus ever judging.. again, that smacks of the totalitarian impulses of the Church and not an enlightened person.

They wanted a messiah on their terms. God don't play that. It is his way or else.
Besides many believed but we're scared of The Pharisses and losing their social standing. The pharisees were the main obstacles. The temple was the center of Jewish Life and they didn't want to lose there place their.

Besides this is God's Universe. I love how God hit a statue of Saint Peter( who was a teacher of the Jews and never was in Rome or long enough to do anything. It was the Apostle Paul who taught the Gentiles. He was a Roman citizen and Was the one to really spread Christianity to Rome along with others but not Peter) with a bolt of lightning on the pope's birthday at his home cathedral in Argentina knocking off the halo( sign of Holiness and the keys to heaven that Christ alone has). A day before blessing same sex couples, refer to 1 Corinthians 6 9-11 you might wanna try KJV, NKJV, NASB,ESV or if you have to NIV which is close but even I caught an error in the NIV study Bible.
Oh and it missed all the strategically placed lightning rods. Hmm, a bolt of lightning hit St.Peters Basilica, twice
when pope benedict xvi, resigned.🤔

You were right about Jesuits. ( you mentioned that in here, as if it was not to good, at least that is what I took of it.

Catholicism is a separate religion with an incorrect translation of Bible. The Vigin Mary wasn't a Vigin after Jesus was born. Joseph made sweet love to his wife many times. Jesus had half Brothers and Sisters; I guess that is what you would call them.
. And you guys screwed with the ten commandments. Where is the idolatry one. Yes there is a second commandment. Oh that's right they omitted the 2nd commandment and spilt the 10th into two and that was eliminated because Catholics are into idolatry. Praying to dead people and angels is forbidden, it is idolatry. God ( Father ,Son and Holy Spirit)shares his glory with no one . Catholics deliberately translated wrong. Just like they make up their tradition and the Popes mindless musings and put them on the same level as their faulty translation of the Bible they never read. God shares his glory with no one.

Read I Corinthians 6 9-11. So every unrepentant idolater is going to Hell. Keep praying to mary and dead people, angels and crosses and statues and it is The Highway to Hell
Sola Scriptura.

There is no purgatory just Hades, Then the Lake of Fire. No nuns or monks. Priests were eliminated after Jesus Christ was sacrificed. One time sacrifice. And we are not suppose to be cannibals. That wafer and wine don't really turn into anything other than urine and poop.
Sola scriptura

The Bible says don't call anyone father
Matthew 23:9
That is in terms of religious leaders and not your earthly father.( children obey your father and mother)
But of course the Catholics have to disobey this. They call priests father

I could go on, but I am done killing time.
Please Cheshire Kat get a real Bible and find a decent Protestant Church, that preaches The Gospel. I would like to meet you in Heaven someday.

You will, and exit left. You have no choice to be born but you have a choice whether or not to end up in Hell.
And good works won't get you there.
Find the Gospel and believe in it and repent.
