Chicago Psychedelics

Any benzo will immediately end your trip, so long as you take enough. When people get checked into the ER or a hospital for freaking out during a bad trip, one of the first things they do is hook them up with a shot of Diazepam or Lorazepam. Even if you are peaking, it will end it.

Dope might not "end" the trip like a strong benzo will, but it certainly will deaden it to the extent that you would probably stop freaking out as hard if you were freaking out at all.

interesting..good to know

shrooms are not food poisoning.
Thats the biggest myth associated with mushrooms.

and eating benzo will work to take away anxiety or smooth our a bad trip.
It wont stop the trip completely though.

For that you would need an anto spychotic.

so its just posioning yourself, like how is it not food poisioning? and since you say its not food posioning, then what is it ?

antipsycotic like what?

I'm guessing that Seroquel would be the easiest anti-psychotic to end a bad trip.

It would allow the person to sleep soon after too.

No...thorazine.

Not food poisioning just drug. Psilocybin is drug just like diesel is a drug. I'm no spiritual advisor or anything but I'd liken eating a quarter and going to an IMAX movie or going to six Flags to be as equally awesome as being smack dab in a hollywood movie.

I think that I would've fucked my mind if I went to 'Avatar' on fucking shrooms. I would've ended up with a major case of that depression that people are getting because they love the planet Pandora so much they are sad they don't live there... shit lol

Its as much poisoning yourself as taking any other drug is.

Eating mushrooms means you are ingesting psilocin/psilcybin and a few other trace alkaloids found in mushrooms.
What gives the psychedelic effects is the psilocin (4-ho DMT) interacting with your seratonin receptors (5ht), where itis a partial agonist, pretty much playing the role of seratonin.

And antipsyvhotic (5ht2 antagonist) like risperidone would kill the trip dead in its tracks within 15 minutes or so.

**the food poisoning myth probably came about because there are poisonous mushrooms. But Psilocybin mushrooms are not.

that prolly originated from the myth that lsd makes you brain bleed which causes you to trip. has anyone ver heard this othger thsan m,e

**the food poisoning myth probably came about because there are poisonous mushrooms. But Psilocybin mushrooms are not.

This, AND the fact that if you leaf through any scientific book/identification guide about mycology, psilocybe species of mushrooms are almost always classified as being "poisonous."

the scientists were clearly misinformed

Yes. But, in their defense, I'm sure it has more to do with legal pressures and their publishers. They usually mention them being 'hallucinatory,' so the poisonous tags are most likely more of a deterrent against lil' idiots picking the wrong mushrooms and dying; as well as the repercussions an author/publisher would face as a result.

your brain bleeds? wow I never heard that myth...also never knew that risperidone will stop Psilocybin in it's 'tracks'...don't know anything about risperidone--but wish I could have stopped a couple of my experiences--it can be fantastic and bizarre (sometimes scary bizarre)--I've found the environment impacted me big time... Tell me more about risperidone. That's what's great about BL...shared learnings

delsyd==I'd agree about the 'poisonous' thing, alot of books call them that. IMHO Psilocybin is hardly a 'poison'!! An interesting substance from another planet (Terrence McKenna) maybe, but not a poison!!!

I would say that psycilocybe mushrooms qualify as a poison.

A Poison: "In the context of biology, poisons are substances that can cause disturbances to organisms,[1] usually by chemical reaction or other activity on the molecular scale, when a sufficient quantity is absorbed by an organism."

A poison can be anything, dose dependent. Psyilocybin is definetely active as a poison, with effects that are desired rather than something undesirable.

I guess you are right 'technically'--probably not thought of in the common sense of poison--a whole bunch of substances can be called poisons if they 'are substances that can cause disturbances to organisms, usually by chemical reaction..on the molecular scale'--there are a large number of poisons by that definition....I stand corrected--I'm going with the substance from another planet...any T. McKenna fans out there?

I tend to agree, and this idea can be traced back to Paracelsus: "Alle Ding' sind Gift, und nichts ohn' Gift; allein die Dosis macht, daß ein Ding kein Gift ist." ("All things are poison and nothing is without poison, only the dose permits something not to be poisonous.")

back on topic

i rarely see psychedelics in chicago
generally only at events or randomly with people

i feel your better off stocking up at festivals

In the Chicago area I've come across mushrooms, LSD, ecstasy (I've gotten regular pressed/stamped pills which I was told was MDMA, and fluffy white powder in a capsule which I was told was MDA) but honest to god have never come across research chemicals, though back in high school I tried to get some kids with a credit card to order it off the net haha. Rumor has it, there are still some websites out there who will mail you some shit, and of course there are still some substances that the good old DEA has just not been able to catch up with and run their "emergency scheduling" schtick on. Though to be totally honest I'm not interested in doing any sort of weird science experiment on myself, and I haven't had any interest in these sort of chemicals since, you guessed it, high school. I think Chinky does make a legit point on the high school thing haha. I kinda get the feeling that a lot of kids nowadays do a lot of experimentation in high school that previous generations did in college. Interesting times we live in.. kids are more promiscuous and adventurous than ever I think.

Just about all the times I've gotten psychedelic drugs, it's been sort of a chance occurence. The fluffy powder molly MDA capsules I got off a buddy I met in high school. The blue Mitsubishi I got off a random asian riceburner classmate I had at the local suburban community college. The pink transformer I got off some hippie-ish sort of dude I met in the city whose girlfriend I eventually boned (after she left him of course ;) )

I think generally for all these type of drugs, there's definitely a crowd(s) for them. I say crowd(s) because post-highschool (and even during high school) the two main crowds are the dirty hemp-necklace hippies and the asian/guido candy ravers who like to rice up their asian import cars. I don't really know if anything's changed since I've been in high school, but frankly it doesn't really seem like it.

Let me sort of make an analogy... I'm sure plenty of people reading this have played some sort of RPG style video game at some point. Well in real life to score certain drugs at certain places from certain people you need varying sets of attributes. Real life can be much more fun than video games though, and I believe that the metropolis of Chicago is more beautiful and fun to explore than just about any video game backdrop out there. Life is no game though, the consequences are real, and will definitely bite you in the ass.

Let me make an example with heroin:

To obtain heroin you'll need points in stealth (getting in and getting the fuck out as quickly as possible through the shortest route), street slang (blows), testicular fortitude, and possible "talking to police" and "hiding the goods" skills if you get pulled over. If you got enough charisma points then maybe you can make the whole process better by getting an "outside the hood" connect. The charisma points for getting an outside the hood connect can be substituted by having raw experience points and knowing how the game works..

Mushrooms aren't hard to get [edit]

Aww man you edited out my guided tour of Chicago college campuses.

I'll rephrase what was edited out so as not to break any forum rules:

Basically what I'm saying is you should just have or make some friends who live in one of the many large high-rise college dormitory buildings that exist within this fine city. With some social skills and luck you may come across what you are looking for. One of my comments that was edited out earlier was that instead of frat houses, these high-rise dorm buildings are like frat skyscrapers. All types of debauchery goes on inside these buildings, and yours truly has had the pleasure of experiencing some of it. One building that specifically comes to mind is one that has the nickname of "The Deathstar". Don't worry mods, that's not a slang term you can look up and find on the internet.

Psychedelics aren't really my cup of tea, but millenium park can be beautiful in the summer time when the weather is nice, especially at night. Not to mention the art museum right down the street.

Of course psychedelics can be found at jam band music festivals, but if you're on this site and you don't already know that you would be an idiot. Personally I'm not too fond of this style of music.

TSD dont let them see you said mushrooms are for the kids lol

and i agree with what you said about " I'm not interested in doing any sort of weird science experiment on myself"

my point exactly...ive done my fairshare of drugs to know what i like and what i dont like...no more trying new drugs

At a recent show was offered molly, as well as liquid and paper doses. Mushrooms and DMT are always just a phone call away...

And the whole dope junkies thinking that tripping is for high schoolers thing is pretty lame if you ask me. Maybe you should eat a 5 strip and lose a little bit of that hugely inflated ego you seem to have.

BTW where the fuck in the city does one find wicky sticks? I'm not asking for corner or anything, I assume it's just confined to the gangs that bring it in from Cali and Texas?
