Chicago is for lovers...

hey everyone, i live in chicago n go to school at UIC right downtown...anybody hang out around downtown chi?

I thought justice sucked really hard chicago nye, but I wasn't sure if it was the acoustics or what. Now I see what.

^when you see a DJ do you really think that everything they're doing has an effect on the music, I've come to an understanding that they are good actors for the most part.

I don't listen to very much electronic music though.

Well, as an occasional DJ myself, I know much of it does have an effect. But you don't need to be affecting the music the whole time to be a good DJ - in fact I think alot of people overkill it. You only actually need to affect the music when you're blending two tracks...

Alot of DJing is good track selection and reading the crowd.

^Ok, I understand at raves people don't watch the DJ as much. But if you are at a concert just to see a specific DJ and he just sits there for a few minutes, then leans over and twists a few knowbs and then sits back for a while, you're gunna be disappointed. (I.E. Last time I saw bassnectar (who sucked) for his encore gets up and yells "ok I'm gunna play you a remix I made 2 years ago, you guys are the second crowd to ever hear it" and then presses play and twists a bunch of knobs for 5 minutes... I walked out.)

well, what was he supposed to be doing?

not to be a dick, but I don't understand what you expect the DJ to be doing aside from selecting and blending tracks - they're a DJ, they're not doing a live PA set or anything. are you just saying his stage presence sucked?

Stage presence completely sucked. Last time I saw him before that he had so much energy, he was dancing around, talkin to the crowd, gettin them hyped...his stage presence was what made me want to see him again, actually. The vibe he was puttin out was simply amazing. This past show, he just sat down the whole time, the only time he said a word was to bitch about gettin hit with water (understandable) it just wasn't the same

I really dont like Justice anyway.

There's way too much of this bullshit electro-crap propagating around these days.

It's all but ruined the experience of e-crate digging for breaks tracks.
