I am 25, 20-30lbs overweight. I look at my mother, age 53, overweight ~100lbs or more, 2 pack a day smoker, DIABETIC and previous heart attack sufferer.
My father, age 55, also overweight but not as much (Still quite a bit), smokes about 1 pack a day.
I don't want to become them. I've tried nicotine patches in the past and got as far as about 1 month quit.
Last Tuesday (5-12) I began to take Chantix, despite the warnings of suicidal thoughts, etc.
This Tuesday I was suppose to quit smoking, but continued until Wednesday. On Wednesday I had one half of a cigarette and none yesterday.
I have been smoking a lot of marijuana though, mainly in the form of blunt wraps (not gutted cigars, wraps) since then even though I own a Volcano vaporizer.
It is getting better, but I still get these nervous feelings in my heart when I get a craving. I am finding myself avoiding other smokers in an attempt to not get jealous.
I have convinced myself I am addicted to a drug that I need to quit. No longer am I trying to "quit smoking" but I am trying to "break my addiction from a drug." I feel it is a more powerful statement to tell yourself that you are breaking your addiction to a drug.
I am not having depression issues, but I am having a lot of (unrelated) issues with my wife that are not making this time easy. Though it is never a good time to quit, I feel now is the best time for my life and health despite any bullshit I have to put up with to quit, going back to smoking just isn't worth it.
I loved it though. I used to love a cigarette on the toilet, after meals, while driving, after class. Sometimes we must part with things we love though.
