I've heard from several family members in New England that Vermont consistently gets/grows some extremely top-shelf medicinal. Anyone know if there's any truth to that? Like, I feel like I never hear about Vermont until there's some weather-related disaster or emergency or something. I've never sampled any smoke while I was in the Northeast, but I do know Florida is a go-to place for great buds at low, low prices (relative to my experiences elsewhere in the country).

I've never been off the East Coast, though, so I'm fairly ignorant on the herbiculture (I like that word...) in the rest of the country.

Whether weekend addiction was trolling or not I think there is a valid point to be made that Californian bud is probably a little over rated. I have never even smoked the stuff myself, never having visited the US, but it would seem to me that California has this reputation as THE mecca for cannabis, particularly among Californians, which cannot logically be entirely deserved. Two other States have legal cannabis, which Cali does not, I think around 20 States have medical marijuana in some form and there are at least a couple of those that apply a rather liberal view towards those laws, much like California.

A good deal of Californian cannabis is grown indoors, there is no special reason it would be different there than any where else. I get that California has a really good climate for outdoor Cannabis, so does a great deal of other places. Some of the argument probably boils down to the experience and knowledge of the growers and breeders and I do not dispute that they have many with a great deal of experience. People have grown cannabis all over the globe for thousands of years and there is undoubtedly a wealth of highly knowledgeable cannabis growers throughout the world. Not to mention that due to the internet, people everywhere have access to quality genetics and also a shitload of information on how to grow properly.

I just find it baffling how many people claim that California bud is the best in the fucking world, when obviously, like anyone else, they have only smoked up in a limited number of places and it is just not sensible to categorically say that one place produces the best cannabis period. To be fair this does go on in a lot of places, but it would seem to me that there are a good number of vocal Californians who spout this claim more often than people from other places and it just seems a bit arrogant. For the record I am not accusing anyone in this thread of that.

a few things...

I'm not going to sit here and try to claim that other areas don't have quality product that could rival that of california but being a resident of ca I'm going to say that california has a few things going for it that other states do not. You don't have to go to the forest to find trees, but you will find some of the biggest in the most abundance if you do...

First let's look at just the sheer size of California: 38 million people. Thats more than pretty much all of its surrounding states combined(washington@7, oregon@4, [email protected], nevade@3, utah@3, [email protected], colorado@5=~30million). I'm not saying that anyone with the right gear and knowledge can't produce the same thing as in california, but it probably helps when there is a thriving counterculture and medical industry supporting it. As far as weed culture, I'd say it'd be hard to find a rival of that of the west coast. So Colorado may have beat us on legalization, we were still the first state to legalize it(back in '96, paving the way).

Northern california just so happens to be the perfect climate for growing weed outdoors as well. Thats not to say you can't grow good outdoor all over the place, but if you can show me another place in the world like mendocino to humboldt where high quality and massive volume is pumped out on the regular and continues to increase every year, ill stop repping california. The things that happen in northern california would blow your mind, and its not until you get a firsthand view of it that you can truly understand what an underground industry truly looks like. Can you name another place that has football field sized operations in the upwards of the hundreds? There are doctors that are known for giving out 90+ rx's, some of the worlds largest hydro supply, and the worlds largest MMJ dispensary(Harborside in Oakland). People LINE UP ON THE STREET WITH POUNDS to try to sell to harborside every week, and the majority of whom get turned away. Colorado and Washington may have taken legalization a step further, but it is decriminalized and in so many areas of california it may as well be legal, cops certainly won't do much about it unless your are causing other problems.

overrated in the sense that the best weed doesn't get all that much better if you change locations, but the weed culture in california is anything but that. Weed is a massive, massive industry in northern california, in some parts the economy is entirely dependent upon growers and the likes. Its not that people who live here are smarter per se, its that people here have come from generations of weed growers and the inheritance that comes along with that. As much as it sucks to say, almost all industry is dominated by similar oligarchical types of heirarchies for the simple reason that its hard to compete with someones inheritance if you have none.

if were talking strictly quality, I think hightimes is proof that it doesn't matter where its grown so much as how its grown.

if were talking overall status, I'll stick to being a stoner in northern california..

/\ if youre repping california it does haha

lets just say i doubt people are bringing it in, where as I don't doubt the opposite the slightest.

Who cares if other states have slightly better weed? It's good enough here, and it's basically legal for those of us fortunate nough to have a recommendation, so I'm satisfied man, cause we can get some retardedly dank weed around here, like the shit that my grandpa and i used to grow, OG thai, would knock me out after a single snap.

Although i was surprised at how good the weed was in NYC, and seattle weed is probably better than CA pot if I'm being perfectly honest, I got so damn high the last time i was up there a few months back.

eventually im gonna get to the point where everyone else's weed is irrelevant and fuck spending money on something that should be considered a renewable resource.

now where's my bottle of water at?

Lol. Cant wait to be growing my own dank.

I agree with big fan. Fuck where its from if its dank looks/smokes good and gets me high I'm all for it.

Idaho is harsh on weed. Who knows where its actually comin from. Most my hooks say Oregon.

Agreed. But you can't beat cheap and convenient. On the east coast the quality is lower or the price is higher, or you gotta work to get it, make connections and pretend like they're friends and what not...

And it definitely not available like medicine, which changes the whole paradigm. If I have to buy whatever my guy has then I can't pick strains that really benefit me (or are more appropriate for day/night/etc). Also nice to be able to pick up cheap shake to make my own edibles, or just be able to get open information and what's available (not just, "it's fire bro!")
So glad I moved out here, my BHO is reliably 40% less and bud is 25+% cheaper (of similar quality).
I'll be really happy when I can start growing my own too, but at least I can help friends trim for now.

rolled a joint for the first time in about 2 years with one of these RAW papers I got from a friend. When I used to smoke with my best friend in high school, he would always roll if it was a joint, and I would do the blunts. We just never really tried the other way around out of laziness lol.

looks ok to me, but I know how joint rollers can be. most times it seems like if they aren't the greatest roller in the world, they learned from the greatest roller in the world

oookeee bro its a fucking piece of paper at the end of the day, if it hits, its a good joint imo

Your joint isn't terrible I suppose, the real test is the smoke test as I have puffed on some that looked beautiful but ran or had problems hitting and smoked some real shitty looking ones that hit well.

I don't get spliff snobbery to the point people wont hit an ugly joint, which believe it or not I have encountered on a couple of occasions, but I perfectly understand people taking pride in their work. I am by no means the best roller, but I like to think I can twist up a pretty decent smoke, especially if I have been rolling a lot recently.

A joint is a lot more than a piece of paper though, it is a work of art and to me the ritual of rolling a spliff is actually part of the experience of smoking. It is something that you are constantly perfecting and getting better at over time and there is nothing wrong with people who take it seriously, so long as they don't take it too seriously.

I gather from the fact your joint is white that you used the vegan raws, I never have tried the original brown ones, but to me those vegan ones taste pretty funky, not to the point of being bad but I would say it does detract from the flavour of my weed, burn super slow though.

For a few months I got quite anxious every time I got high, I attributed it to smoking while on LSD and k, recently I stopped smoking while on those drugs but got some oxy the other week and smoked while on that, now there's no more anxiety even when I have weed by itself - has anyone else had similar experiences? Been smoking the same strain for around 6 months now so can't put it down to differences in strain, or dosages, because I've always smoked similar amounts when I do smoke. Now weed chills me out and helps with sleep again like it used to, for a while I couldn't even sleep on it without diazepam on hand.

out of papers again. a 30 pack will last me less than a week. practice makes perfect when it comes to rolling. I usually smoke papers mostly, especially since I quit smoking cigarettes.

some might say i'm a bit of a snob, but if I get light headed trying to hit a joint I'm just not interested anymore.. especially if I'm already lit which is a lot of the time..

Sweet J- Psychs definitely changed the way I experienced weed for a brief time after using. Pretty much using any other drug effects the way I experience weed, and ya I have experienced months when it was nearly impossible for me to fall asleep when I was stoned, like made my mind start racing even faster. I think a lot of it had to do with the amount of stress I was dealing with at the time as well though.

I got some Nextracts Larry OG shatter right now that might be the tastiest concentrate I've ever tasted. Just amazing pine-y taste. To be found around LA if you're in CA.

And the transaction to get it was the best since I've been here. What the concept of "delivery weed" should be, if you ask me. "Store to your door" concept.
I registered online, called in to HQ to order, got a call back from the driver to confirm my address, then 40 minutes later he arrived.
Brought with him a soft cooler filled with concentrates, bubble hash and chocolate bars. Plus a camera backpack on his back sectioned off to hold 12 mason jars. For the price of an expensive quarter in NYC, I got 3g of 4 different shatters/sugars (Larry OG, Earth OG, Jupiter OG, Vader OG), 18g of shake to roll up Js, and a free g for my first time.
Plus a guy who wasn't shady at all (surprisingly professional actually, drove a Prius lol). And we just hung out in my dining room for like half an hour going over everything, and he was more knowledgable than most people about the processes for making concentrates as well as the local community.
Going to dispensaries around here can just be shady because they're so marginalized, the places are always on the edge of shutting down and are almost always run by gangsters, or are really expensive. I liked the novelty of a "weed store" at first but delivery might win me out...

now where's my bottle of water at?

<3 get a hand pump brah

Are you getting a different strain now?
