Caught with Class C; Ketamine. What's next?

At best, if its been over a year since being caught, they might let you off with another caution/fine. More likely you'll have to go to court, maybe get a fine/community service and have to see a drug councillor.

In honesty, unless you need to carry your drugs on your person, don't. Its not worth getting caught. Its such a piss take having your drugs confiscated.
If you are going to have them on you, wear tight boxers and slip your drugs down the front.

Even if you get searched, they can't pat down on your cock and they have to have great supiscion to strip search you. May aswell make it hard for them.

Remember, police have a certain amount of discretion, be good to them and they might just be good with you.

It is your right to never disclose this event ever again provided they issued a caution and it didn't go to court.

I'm afraid that's irrelevant to the USA groov, the visa waiver form states "Have you ever been ARRESTED relating to a controlled substance" if you answer "Yes" then you will be need to apply for a visa to the US embassy. Which you arn't gonna get.

Unless you wern't arrested before they gave you the caution then that's your ass.

Once a conviction is spent, the whole thing -- crime, arrest, investigation, punishment -- never happened. And you can truthfully state that it never happened.

The authorities might keep some records in secret somewhere after the event, and they probably do, even, but they can't just dig them up willy-nilly -- otherwise, everybody would know they were keeping records they shouldn't.

^^

I like your thinking badandwicked ;)

Just being arrested for drugs - regardless of whether you were charged - is enough to ban you from the USA for life. They don't have any "rehabilitation of offenders act" so if you fancied seeing the great redwoods one day, you'll have to stick to a DVD.

Sorry to derail this thread but I've seen it stated a lot.

Anyone know what'd happen to a US passport holding citizen living in the UK?

No, no idea. BTW It is always worth following up the 'you will never ever be allowed into America' spiel with 'if you actually tell them about it or are extremely unlucky' because it isn't black and white by any stretch.

If you're nabbed again before your caution expires, in the worst case scenario you'll be loaded on a cart with other bad boys, taken to Tyburn and there hung, drawn and quartered in front of a cheering mob. However, if your record isn't too bad, or your mum has a private 'word' with the judge, transportation is a more likely outcome. Best if you can leave the ket behind and stick with the gin from now on.

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

the reputation is often worse than the reality, border agents in u.s can be charmed like any other. i know muslims who get no hassle at all just by being polite, smiley and obeisant. whether this translates to drug use i dont know, but as with everything it probably involves some individual discretion at one point or another

That could be because, despite everything, being muslim isn't actually a crime yet in the US and drug use is.

But the problem is the USA doesn't recognise the UK rehabilitation of offenders act. So it doesn't matter whether the conviction is spent or not - they don't recognise it. They go on US law.

Fixxorred :)

They're missing a trick there. Probably too busy wiring their landmarks with explosives, shooting each other and setting up crap spreadsheet-based competitions. Oh, and rolling face.

Actually I properly love America.

Take no notice of them, darky, they're all cops looking to mislead you. Heed my words, get nabbed with this noxious substance again and you're down for a ten stretch at least. That'll soften your cough. In a less tolerant society you'd be shot on sight and your kin billed for the cost of the bullet; be grateful for your lenient treatment, repent your no-good, lowdown ways and return to the forgiving bosom of the society you've so callously abused. Your best chance of rehabilitation is to shape up, join the army, kill enemies of the state and be a useful citizen again. And, cream in your coffee, you'll be allowed into America. You know it makes sense.

Oh izzy, I have caught you in a playful mood. :)

Just making people aware tho jancrow - I really enjoyed America the 2 or 3 times I was there before my dreadful talking to from the magistrate put the kibosh on it. That softened my cough.

I might try sneaking in one day tho :)
