Alright, so this is becoming an issue, and I don't really know how to deal with it. I'll give some contextual information first.

I first tried methamphetamine a few months ago, and didn't use it much. For the past 1.5 or so months, I've had a few binges. My first I was awake 7-8 days, and the day I stopped banging meth, I got to sleep using a little extra of my olanzapine, trazodone, and clonazepam. The next was a couple days later, for 5 days, followed by another about a week later, which was 4 days; the same sleep solutions worked. Recently I took my last binge, and I was using for about 4.5 days or so. I decided to take a couple months break from methamphetamine, because I was a little bit concerned about a number of potential dangers. That was almost 6 days ago. I still can`t sleep. I`ve mega-dosed my sedatives, and only gotten slow, sort of drowsy, with some k-pin intoxication as well. Nothing worked. Surely this is not the methamphetamine I did almost a week ago, is it?

It`s as if I no longer need, or possess the impulse and desire, to sleep. I`ve tried, for my health, but everything has failed, even getting smashed on benzos and alcohol. I`m functioning quite well, nothing like as if I`ve been up so long. I don`t even really mind it at all; more time for stuff to do, I suppose. It`s not unpleasant, and I`m not `tired`, or even sore. But why is this happening to me? Is this dangerous? Should I see a doctor, or what? I feel like I will be awake forever, as I can't even manage to get to the state where I need to crash. I don't even nod properly from opiates!

I could do this for weeks and weeks, with no amphetamines, methamphetamine, or stims of any kind. This is a new ability I've gained. I'm worried for my health, potentially, and whether this has happened to others concerns me too.

How can I break it and sleep, to see if I go back to normal? Should I, or will I be fine if I indulge in the extra free time I now get, drug free?

^ I agree. 10 days is a looooong time and even if you feel okay now you're heading for psychosis territory. All humans need sleep; if we didn't, we would have evolved not to as it's hardly an evolutionary advantage leaving yourself vulnerable for 8 hours every night while you are unconscious.. lack of sleep can be really dangerous if it goes on too long, so I would see a doctor ASAP. I'm not sure why you still can't sleep so long after the meth - it does have a long duration so if you binged on a lot it can keep you up for quite some time, and it may have induced mania or psychosis which can stop you from sleeping. If you've tried your usual sedatives with no effect, definitely time to see a doc..

Good luck <3

What happens when you put your head to a pillow, Druidus? Is it the usual flood of thoughts, angst, distracting action inside of your head that's preventing you from sleeping? Can you get even partially asleep? Or is your brain dead of thought and still keeping you awake?

Can`t sleep at all, not even partially (I can lay with my eyes closed and `rest` however), though I can meditate. My thoughts are as normal.

I still haven`t really slept since posting this thread, btw. I`ve got a doctor`s appointment for it.

Something extremely weird happened today. I decided to use some of my amphetamine (not meth, I`m sticking to my break), for a good time. I snorted some 75mg or so, and IV`d approximately 25mg. I started to feel something strange; something I`ve never before experienced from stimulants. I got sleepy. Especially after the IV administration. I was literally nodding.

I don`t know what that means, but stims causing sedation sounds extremely concerning to me.

first - you're tired. That's probably why you nodded out. I am quite sure that I have ADD because when I start smoking, like the midst of my first bowl, I have to fight the urge to nod...whenever I take 'controlled methamp' (vyvanse, ritalin, adderall) that stuff makes me go directly to sleep, no matter how much I take. There was a bit of a drought for me about a month ago, and a friend helped me with some adderalls. I took one in the morning, fell back asleep. Woke up, said fuck this, took 3. Next thing you know, 8 hours later (the longest sleep I had/have gotten in probably 7 months) I'm laying in bed wondering what the fuckery just happened here???

It is also possible you may have overdosed. I guess that's what happens when you od on the meth, you get really sleepy.

I think the reason you're not tired is because from what you've said, it appears that you don't have much of a tolerance to meth. If you were to continue this behaviour for a few more months, I am quite sure that you'd catch some Z's - I know from experience. When I first got back into using, I had no interest in sleep, couldn't even consider it or think about it. And now, I'm constantly fighting off the nods. My body puts itself to sleep weather I like it or not, because it knows damn well that I'm not gonna be laying my stupid head down anytime soon, so it takes it when it wants it. Falling asleep sitting up, at inopportune times, etc.

I would be interested to see if you got completely sober, if you still had this sleeping issue (and by sober, I mean for like a month or more, so everything's pretty much out of your system that isn't supposed to be there.) If this continues on, I would definitely see a doc.

adderall, vyvanse and ritalin are not controlled meth^

Methamphetamine only comes in one controlled formed, desoxyn.

The other drugs you listed are amphetamines or other stimulants, but that does not make them controlled meth.

EDIT: and yea OP seriously go to the ER man, not sleeping for such a long period of time is going to completely fuck up your mental health...

I had some bad insomnia last night, the first day I didn't take my suboxone after weening down. I got maybe 2 hours... even with 150mg's of trazodone to help. I've been through periods of insomnia before when kicking and it's pretty miserable, so I'm not looking forward to this... I'm hoping it doesn't last long, as I feel no other real withdrawal symptoms being off the bupe. Maybe it's just in my head. Either way, I'm in a horrible mood. Maybe 250mg's of trazodone would help tonight. If this lasts for 10 days like you... hah, I might just kill myself.

Great post, listen to this girl.

Extra points to the penguin for proper use of "fuckery" :sus:

When i first read this i thought, k, he must have done some meth 10 days ago & its still got him sailing.

Then post number 5 you say you're still shooting speed. (by the way yeah i've always become really chilled out, like putting my feet up blissed when doing amphetamines) Then christ alive man give the amphetamines a rest. Take a heavy dose of temazepam if you can find it - it'll still give you a healthy rest unlike other benzos.

If not that then try some valium with an antihistamine like diphenhydramine or promethazine. Or some melatonin, in a pitch black room, free of noise if possible.

please do excuse my ridiculous error, I forgot I should have been calling them "mixed amphetamine salts" instead of methamphetamines. But really - you, and everyone else knew what I meant. Controlled/prescribed drugs as opposed to street drugs.

You should probably stop using amphes for some time. I'd recomend some valium (+ dph) which worked very well for me the last time i was on meth. You should also try not to think about the fact that you cant get asleep, just try to lie down and stay in bed as long as it needs you to fall asleep. Just stating this cause i noticed that if I cant fall asleep i always try to sleep for ~30min then get up to take a hit or sth like this and iam widely awake afterwards almost every time.

I'm able to sleep now. However, I still don't need to. I've used no methamphetamine, and I've taken amphetamine once a week at 125-175mg doses each time. I think it's affected how I think, to a degree.

I go to sleep, though it takes a lot of work to get there, but I wake in a few hours, feeling fine. Usually I get back to sleep, and repeat the cycle a few more times. 2.5-3.5 hours at first, followed by as many one hour naps as I can force myself to manage. I have an appointment with my doctor to see what can be done, but nothing seems to be changing, I just don't sleep right anymore. I don't know if it's bad, but half the time I don't even try to sleep, so I don't get much anymore. I have at least one or two nights without sleep per week, and this is when NOT doing the amphetamine. I feel fine, for the most part, when doing this. However, I do wonder about potential risks.

Not sure how much a doctor will be able to help you, we are still pretty much in the dark ages when it comes to sleep. Sleeping pills pretty much become ineffective very quickly, and in the end will cause more problems. I would say there's a good chance they'll put you on an antipsychotic. Anyway, I'm just saying be careful and read up about whatever sleeping pills they end up giving you before you end up taking them, and more importantly keep in mind, none of them are going to be effective long term.

I was a little hesitant to write this post because I'm pretty sure some pimply teenager with Big Pharma's cock in their mouth is going to get all butthurt because I'm talking shit about sleeping pills, but it's true--they can be pretty dangerous.

its not good for ur body not to sleep and repair , see a doctor or get some tranquilizers , i remember i was coming down off .... a shitload of different drugs and already hadnt slept for 5 days since my last dose of anything , had 5 of these strong ass tranquilizers a mate had , a 15 minute walk home , got into bed and couldnt keep my eyes open lol worked wonders , was fun attempting to keep my eyes open while i was in a sleeping position tho haha .

10 DAYS?! holy shit....i would take seroquel (quenatipine) if it was ME, but you should speak to a doctor ASAP! Damn dude i hope u are alright

Speak to a doctor hopefully they can prescribe something.. anything to help you, your body needs sleep to work properly you will probally just end up getting really ill.

Wow man..be careful with long periods of time with no sleep..ive heard hallucinations set in pretty quick..dont remember the exact time but quite confident ten days is damn close.. but after i was in the hospital for 27 days and being on shitloads of meds my sleep pattern got jumbled too,..but after awhile il worked itself out so waaking up every hour or two got less frequent.
Good luck brother and be safe.
