Pot kills dreams and not enough people pay attention to the flip side as it is. As a dope fiend I completely lost the ability to dream.
For I while I was debating whether I was just too burnt out in the morning to care to remember my dreams, or if I wasn't even having them anymore. I came to realize that my REM cycle was being suppressed. The severe negative side effects I experience from extreme constant cannabis abuse (depression, anxiety, antisocialism, burnout, anger, crushingly low self esteem, uncontrollable urge to blaze at all times even if i had just smoked up) always seem to lift only once I start having those intense vivid dreams that come 3 or 4 days after ceasing use. I believe the inability to dream is responsible for all of these negative aspects of cannabis abuse (I'm talking way more than a gram-a-day smoker here).
Whoever is saying dreams are overrated, that is rediculous. You're just too burnt out to have vivid ones. Every night we leave the physical world behind and travel through our minds, experiencing wondrous realities that are creations of our own. There is no difference between the experience of dreams and reality, except the possibilities are endless in dreams once you begin to pay attention to them and exert control. Lucid dreaming on the flip side is proving to have a positive effect on my rate of spiritual growth.
