Cannabis for the gym?

For the most part, i tried this before... it doesn't give me any encouragement to start a good work out...

but oddly enough i get energy to go out of my way to get munchies and entertainment.
 
Not sure if he's right, but a friend who's a gym teacher told me that weed doesn't affect the workout too negatively. He agreed that its nice to smoke with friends right before going to the gym, partly to get motivated and pumped. Makes it more social as well, just as long as you're not the type to get paranoid in crowds when you're baked. Personally I almost prefer working out when I'm baked.
 
I've worked out while high before, and apart from the lower pain threshold I can't honestly say it does anything beneficial. In fact, on the contrary, weed just makes me a bit lethargic. A bit of caffeine pre work out always works well but amphetamines are even better, albeit a tad dangerous. Obviously I don't condone the use of amphetamines for working out because of the heart rate issue, however, i've had small amounts of d-amphetamine before without any ill effect. My god do they get you in the zone. Still, i've only done this in extrenuating circumstances and don't plan on making it a regular practice.

My only issue with weed and working out is that now that i've stopped smoking, i'm finding it hard to consume all the carbs/protein that I require to grow because of a lack of appetite. Just got to eat through the pain I guess.
 
When I smoke before going to the gym I get paranoid. It seems like everyone is watching you through the mirrors. Then the trippy mirror reflecting off mirror reflecting off mirror totally twists my mind. I think the gym would be a good place to trip just for all the mirrors.
 
Certain facts my brainy bro told me:
Caffeine is not good for your muscles since it stiffens them up which can lead to injury.
Right, wou want to stretch before and after and I can't see why caffeine could be good for you unless you lack motivation.
Pot increases your heart rate and if you have heart issues this may not be good. I don't think the argument about the US gov not proving the case makes it correct (presumptious comment).
A good measure of your fitness is to see how fast your heart pumps while doing a physical excercise. If you are walking up stairs for example and your heart is racing you are obviously out of shape like mofo. If you jog briskly with a low heart rate you are likely in good form.
With that said I have smoked and worked out but I find that although I can focus on the actions and go to the failure point of an excercise w/o feeling too much pain it is a detriment to your conditioning. I played competitive soccer stoned several times and I swear I felt like I was in the worst shape of my life, my lungs could not handle it. Same goes for snowboarding or any other sport that I regularily like to smoke up to - me performance is weakened a wee little bit.
 
i'm too lazy to lift weights when i'm stoned, but i'm always game for a nice bike ride or disc golf when high.
 
i think i'm a little bit more into lifting than most of you guys in this section, but cannabis gives me an incredible mind muscle connection...like i can feel every single fiber in each muscle. It's great for working on my form...but i get too easily intimidated/discouraged when i'm stoned at the gym so i don't do it that often. Often times i will just smoke at home and stretch for a few hours...actually i do that at least twice a week and it's great
 
Nahhh, I think its bad to smoke weed, then work out.. I dont know why, but in my experience, I feel a little more tired after three hours of workout if i smoked before working out then not smoking it.. I think its more of a "prize" to smoke after working out.. a little motivation? plus it feels much better
 
LOL dude....cmon now, getting high at the gym would be like driving on the highway in first gear. It lowers your blood pressure and increases your heart rate. Haven't you noticed that when your high you become exhausted from getting the mail?
 
Losing weight while high would seem to be better if you're a bigger guy and working out to lost weight.
Cause you know, thc is stored in fat cells, seems like it would just be released back into your body again when the fat caells are being burned.

Someone else had mentioned this, but I also seem to like to dance when high.

Um, no... I think that might be just you. Smoking pot before doing manual labor or working out acts as a stimulant, for me.
 
I vaporize before I work out sometimes and I can safely say I feel much more "in tune" with my body and muscles, especially when I'm stretching. feels so good.

I can still run miles directly after vaporizing, this usually doesnt apply to smoking, unless you're ridiculously in shape.

however, a small bowl before a heavy lift never hurt anyone... still gave me that "in tune" feeling without being too hard on the lungs...
 
^ Yes, I want to point out, also, that when I say I get high before doing manual labor or exercising or whatever, that I don't mean I smoke a blunt by myself or anything.... I'm talking about a couple sips from the bubbler, that's it. It really has a way of making exercise more fun and focused.

True true, I scored a career high 24 points the first time I ever played basketball high. It was amazing... particularly considering I wasn't very good...;)

I was better at clogging the lane. Something that might be pretty easy to do on a couch locking indica strain.
