Cannabis for the gym?

If you're smoking tha tmuch to reduce lung capacity - then no don't do it.

I'd skip the coffee as not to stress my heart un-necessarily. As for the vapo-hit I find I'm able to concentrate better and overcome perceived fatigue of my body especially when doing aerobic exercises.

On the other hand by raising your heart rate anyway you might be getting some strange side effects!
 
So far I haven't read anything about somebody dropping dead while hlgh and working out, so that's good enough for me.
 
If you're gonna hit the gym i suggest turning down on the smoking to the weekend cause its gonna be hard to keep up that 3 or 4 day/week gym routines for various reasons some ppl already pointed out. Personally, i just do some push ups n sit ups everyone morning and its good enough for me. :)
 
I used to smoke before working out all of the time when I was working out. Now that school has gotten pretty rough (27 hours), I don't have time to work out anymore :(

However, I loved it. I found it made me focus more and not worry about what was going on around me. Also, I was more relaxed, and I found that when I worked out high, i targeted my target muscles better. I don't know if this is true, but it felt like it...

Most people I know who are aspiring body builders or whatever do smoke before going to the gym, probably because they can't drink and they are potheads now, but I dunno...
 
personally past few months ive started jogging... ive noticed ya seem to be able to go much further while slightly high... not too baked now or you wont be fucked even starting the issue x3 but yeh a wee smoke does me the world of good relaxes ya means ya dont get so tight so quick... if ya know what i mean xD
 
If your looking for a little rush, I would suggest getting one of these supplements: shock therapy or no-xplode. I have been taking shock therapy before I work out, and it gives you that energy and focus even on those really shitty days. No-xplode is a similar product, but it costs nearly twice as much and many people I know that take it say they have to increase their serving sizes. I also take creatine and nitrous supplements, but if you are looking for a little rush this is the way to go. The first time I did it, it felt like a cheap coke high lol.
 
just smoke for a week straight, eat really healthy for munchies then stop smoking and lift weights a week straight youll be amazed how well that works
 
freejroll, thc affects your CNS in a way that some body builders experience more muscle control and a higher lever of concentraiton. I know some steriod users who swear by smoking 40-45 mins before training. im a natural ofcourse ;)
 
Can't comment on how it affects working out in a gym, but I sure do love the feeling I get when I'd get baked and have a kickabout with my friends. Endorphins + THC = good.
 
Smoke Pot: Do you feel like dancing?

This question has a few different facets to it:
(1) Is Pot somehow bad for the heart? . . . NO. If it was, the US gov't would have thoroughly documented it, with the best scientists that money can buy.

(2) When you are High, do you feel energized? . . . If yes, then (maybe) you would find exercising FUN while you are High. If no, then just keep sacking-out on the sofa, and Dream about getting fit.

(3) Would you EVER want to work-out in a gym? . . . If yes, then you would want your mind to cooperate with your body (so, will getting High make me feel more interested in working out? Heck, just get High once, and find out for yourself). If no, then skip to the next Thread.

Then, there are several other drugs which could be useful to take, when going to exercise: From Steroids, and amphetamines, to pain pills.

(4) When High, my heart beats faster anyway ... and when I work-out it's easy for my heart to beat pretty fast: Is a fast heart-beat safe?

When I lift weights WITH pot, my Heart Rate increases. But, when I lift weights WITHOUT pot, my Heart Rate increases. It is perfectly normal to have your Heart beat faster when you are exercising (known as aerobic exercise) ... in fact it's GOOD to have your Heart beating faster. This strengthens your Heart. Aerobic exercise is what Doctors are all telling us to have, and to have more of.

The only thing to watch out for is when your Heart Rate is flying, but you are sitting still. This usually happens if you take an Amphetamine (or Coke), and plop down to enjoy it. This is like revving an engine in Neutral. And EVEN this does NOT harm your Heart (much). If it did, you would be reading a lot about it in the News. For example: "In 2005, 100,000 Speed Freaks had heart attacks and died, average age 24." But this is NOT happening, so you don't have to worry.

Aerobic exercise is when you boost your heart Rate up to a Fast rate. The recommended Heart Rate is 80% of the fastest your Heart can beat (and its best benefit is when you can keep this speedy Heart Rate for several minutes ... optimally for 20 minutes).

You Push yourself physically. Your Heart Rate goes up. (This is Good.) You keep pushing; your rate creeps up higher. (This is Better.) Keep pushing ... OK, finally my Heart Rate is 160 beats a minutes. Keep exercising, keep my Rate near 160 beats a minute.

You think that your Heart Rate is too fast, because of the Pot. It is actually better for your Heart Rate to speed up with a lesser amount of exercise. The WHOLE idea is: I want my Heart to beat faster while I am exercising. If it wants to beat faster because of some Pot coursing through your veins, good for you. Then you don't need to push yourself so hard, just to get the health benefits of aerobic exercise.
 
I go running high all the time, though I prefer to just take a few hits then get baked when I come back. The MJ high + runners high is quite euphoric, imo.

I've never really worried about my heart rate, although the thought has occured to me. I don't see anything wrong with getting high and working out. It's not like you don't improve either. Last year I took myself from struggling to barely run 3 miles at 9:00+mile pace to being able to run 10miles at 7:30 pace within a few months, all the while hitting my vaporizer BEFORE + AFTER every run.

Now after I lost all fitness over the course of an opiate/opiod addiction, I'm back trying to get into shape and I'm still using the herb.

Weights are anaerobic. Running, walking, jogging, etc, anything that keeps the heart excersizing over a long period of time is aerobic.

Aerobic exercise is when you are breathing regularly while you exercise. Anaerobic exercise is when you do not breathe enough while you exercise; it has something to do with Lactic Acid building up in the tissues (which is made in lieu of having enough oxygen to work the muscles).

This is to allow people to push themselves harder than their body can utilize oxygen; in the old days, it allowed a man to run away from a lion, without passing out from lack of oxygen. A few minutes after that anaerobic exercise is over, the body catches-up on its oxygen, and the Lactic Acid changes back.

You both are kind of wrong

He is correct in that weight training is generaly regarded as anaerobic excersize. Cross training (low weight high rep no rest high intensity) workouts are a great for of aerobic training.

You are talking about aerobic versus anaerobic metabolism. You are correct that lactic acid fermentation is used in anaerobic conditions. But the fact that it is a anaerobic process doesn't mean that it doesnt occur while acting aerobically (respirating). Lactic acid fermentation is most definately occuring in your muscles during weight training. Which is the primary reason it is considered anaerobic activity.
 
It may be dangerous or something, but I find that if I smoke salvia before a workout, weather its running or lifting, I can push myself to my body's point of failure.

I can lift till my arms malfunction, i can run through any sort of breathlessness or stich in my side.
 
My friend's father said him and his buddy used to blast a huge session of hash before working out so they could concentrate better lol.

But in my opinion, if I were stoned the gym would be the last place i'd want to be.
 
I find that smoking out before working out actually gives me the motivation to get going... then the cannabis high seems to dwindle a lot faster than it normally does while just lounging around, but by this time I've already kick-started the endorphins.

As a side note, I'm pretty sure that being high causes me to be more accurate about executing reps of anything. I didn't know how to word that... but what I mean is I'm a lot slower about doing, for instance, leg curls, and I don't use my upper body or butt to cheat when the weights start getting heavy. Does that make sense?

So I'm a huge fan of smoking before exercising, even though exercising kinda seems to override the high.
 
Go for the smoke after working out. You already have that pumped up rush of working out, and then you get to smoke out. This way you're already done with the work so you won't get demotivated, and you get to reward yourself with a little session.
