Opioids Cannabis for opiate withdrawal

jI prefer white widow when its around. Any nice indica dominant strain works great though. If I can get any other help I smoke around the clock. The only drawback I find is it is rather temporary relief. Especially if I use it by itself for sleep as I will wake in short time.

Of course it depends on the severity and everyone is different. I'd just really stay away from expensive sativas like purple haze and such because they can make things seem worse. Sometimes the couch locking almost numbing high of an indica is preferred and this is definitely one of em.

I went through full heroin withdrawal twice and both times weed helped me a LOT.

It gave me a huge mood boost and gave me an appetite. Also, it got me high, so I was less focused on the "OH MY GOD IM FUCKING DYING" feelings.

It does help ALOT
However, it doesn't do anything for the withdrawals. You don't even really get high. Thats what sucks is you can't get high.

But it still allows you to get some rest sometimes and eat, and makes you feel better - cuz afterall, you always feel better after some nice herb

Yea absolutely stick with Indica strains or ones that aren't bred to be stupidly strong as they cause more paranoia (due to there being more THC and less CBN which has Antipsychotic properties).

It seems that it pretty much helps out with any kind of withdrawal... Since it also notably helped me out with my speed cravings after I quit using meth... And same for my Morphine cravings, although I wasn't on Morphine for very long...

Everyone is different though, so I'm sure for some people, pot could be a complete alternative to opiates, and for others, it doesn't help out a bit. But it really depends on how long you've been using the opiate, and how dependent you are of it.

weed helps with the cold sweats, cravings, and anxiety for me when I'm kicking dope. It doesn't completely take the symptoms away but it does help a considerable amount.

Weed is definately the #1 cure for cravings. It will agrivate the restless leg, and possibly the anxiety, but i gurantee you wont be thinking about dope! Especially in the post acute withdrawal, when your bored and all you can think about is getting some opes. The weed will just turn your mindset right around. For me it will even make me feel a little bit guilty about almost going back to the old habits.

Yeah I smoked weed for the first time during minor w/drawls and it made me feel very bad about my opiate habit and I am truly going to try to keep it to a minimum I don't want to go through withdrawal fully these past 3 days were annoying enough with the restless leg and body and small aches and pains. I truly have to monitor my usage from now on but smoking weed is what brought that realization out fully and helped me get over the leftover withdrawals i had.

Here is an important thing to consider: when I was smoking weed all the time, it worked great when I was trying to kick my oxy habit or I was sick and couldn't cop... On the other hand, I qiut smoking weed altogether for a long time, but continued my IV heroin/oxy habit. When I was trying to quit the dope I smoked some nice homegrown and it was the worst idea ever. The anxiety and paranoia went into over drive and the RLS hit the wall as well. So in summation, if you've been smoking, its probly an OK idea. If you haven't, bad idea...
and NEVER do coke/cryst while kicking opiates, you will want to claw your eyes out

I hate this combination. It takes away the symptoms for me until I start coming down, then I get a combination of that "coming down feeling" from weed AND w/d symptoms, I can't sit still for shit. Not fun.

Absolutely positively marijuana has helped me ease the pain from opiate withdrawal. I'm a 24 healthy and active guy. I recently stopped methadone at 60mg and am on day 9. By staying active (going to the sauna and hot tub at my club), smoking a lot of weed, and eating a lot of food, my withdrawals aren't NEARLY as crazy as it could be. The weed helps ease my mind from the warped world I was seeing. The chemicals in your brain are going crazy and trying to balance out when going through withdrawal, but weed greatly numbs that feeling. Weed also helps with the appetite which is extremely crucial for recovery.
GOODLUCK EVERYBODY FOR WHATEVER YOUR GOALS BE.

during my relatively short-lived stint with heroin (1 year, shorter than most) i would ALWAYS smoke a ton of hash when i was dopesick, as it helped relieve nausea, the incessant kicking that for some reason always comes with opiate withdrawal, and even a considerable amount of anxiety. It reduced the cravings a tiny bit, but not that much.

I have found that while in opiate withdrawal, using some concentrated indica based hash extracts, along with a low dose of benzos helps get rid of over 95% of the withdrawals. It helps get rid of the bored feeling, helps lift you out of the depression, helps you eat, erases the anxiety, gets rid of the aches/pains, erases the nausea which helps you eat and keep food down, so you'll recover a little faster, as well as helps with insomnia and helps promote sleep.
It dosn't do anything with the runs tho, but with immodium deals with that aspect of the withdrawal.

I've been told by a metric shit-ton of people that weed both intensifies your opiate high and at least provides some remedy for withdrawal. I can't say either is true for me after doing both. But this is coming from someone who never really enjoyed getting stoned except for a brief phase in highschool when it's all anyone really knew as far as drugs went. I found that when I'm experiencing w/d, I really only want heroin. And everything else pretty much has zero appeal.

Totally agree with that statement because when you are quitting narcs I go the worst restleg syndrome stealing oxy irs from my step mom at the time so trying to quit I went to the er he said he was going to narc me out he could patient dr conf. anyways I would rather deal with pot side effects anyday and I have tourettes and smoke with out it quite often. So yeah pot yeah is A LIFE SAVER coming off opis.

I withdraw every Tuesday and knda on Wednesday because I use all weekend every weekend. i find smoking weed almost completely eliminates withdraws.

If I wear going through worse withdraws i would think It would just help alot.

This is an excellent topic. Cannabis is what really got me through some of my sickest days. Some days I would wake up so sick that I couldn't eat anything, could barely drink water, couldn't move etc. When I would exhale a lung-full of smoke, within ten seconds I could literally feel the nausea, sickness, and general malaise lift. While I was high, I'd be able to relax, eat a little bit and stop kicking my fucking legs for a half an hour. In one of the opening scenes of "Trainspotting" when Renton is stocking up his room with all of the accoutrements of Opiate W/D he forgot to bring ganja.

Benzo's are really great to have on hand too. They're better for the psychological symptoms I have found. Something like Valium though, with its skeletal muscle relaxant properties can be great for the Restless Legs Syndrome. Also, if you're actually kicking out of principal, you can go the natural route and just grab a bag of weed and somer tea!

So yes! Cannabis is wonderful for opiate withdrawal. The only thing better imo is more of your chosen opiate :)
