[Canada] Harper Government Declares Total War on Marijuana

the amount of young stoners I know that voted conservative is disgusting! I think people should think and read a little before voting. Stephen Harper has a beautiful money making plan and I'm certainly not the only one to notice it; make super prisons and make new laws to incriminate more people and fill these prisons. He is copying failed US policies. It's so frustrating to see young and educated people, especially those who use drugs and believe in personal freedom, still voting conservative.

- Totally agree with you. Even here in Montreal and QC, where the NDP won the majority of the seats, I'm constantly reminded that so many young stoners around me, regardless of their education, still wish that Canada were an immigrant-free, art-free, free-speech deprived open air prison, where they could happily mow their stupid suburban lawns till they die. They drive me mad.

I guess being a stoner means nothing... I mean just cuz u partake of the bud, doesn't organise your political views into anything specific.

People without hearts should die... naturally, of course. But spiritually.

"art-free"...thats the one that confuses me the most. i mean, if you're stupid, you're likely to not like immigrants, because exotic things simply confuse you. and free speech can definitely be frightening even for the most open minded of us. but anyway, art? how is art evil? it surely is being diminished in these times. the top selling, best album of the 80s, for example, was Prince's Purple Rain, which artistically speaking is an AMAZING piece of work. and what of the 2000s?

The stagnation and anti-spiritual state of society these days is truly disturbing. and I'm only fucking 25.

* also, about the violent revolution thing. Here's another example of them not working: http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/m...-real-egyptian-revolution-hasnt-happened-yet/

art may challenge some people's beliefs, and that may be frightening. Or make them think, which should be strictly prohibited.

I wasn't really serious in suggesting a violent overthrow of the government in Canada lol. Any revolution in Canada will take forever to change something as big as prohibition and even longer for equality to be reached. As many people here mention, many Canadians are hypocrites or too complacent to care.

But those suburban stoners are evil, hypocritical asses. Sure being a stoner doesn't mean anything, but if they like to get high ALL the time then you would think they would vote for policies that don't interfere with their favourite hobby but if you live in Canada you know, rich suburban stoners (they have their own subculture) do not get into legal trouble anyway. I know them well and despise them with all my might.

IME the law is not applied equally to all people here but that's another story.

I don't think I've ever met a rich suburban stoner lol

I thought they all lived in "Cali"

maybe I got my "CA"s mixed up

really? lol I grew up knowing them and had the misfortune of being friends with most of them. Many of them had very successful parents that were always busy so they could get high all the time and not care. The worst thing about them is that they didn't understand that marijuana costs money and would just want me to get them high for free all the time without ever paying me back. They do have a subculture; bunch of hippy coldplay listening shits IME lol. Someone else must know what I'm talking about.

Yeah, I've met some of these rich Coldplay stoners in suburbia, you know, the ones that never pinch in for anything, getting high for free, the hell with them! :!

'total war' on weed? god dammit man, why the fuck are some people so fucking retarded?!?!? this guy obviously has some issues, and he isn't going to help anything, only make his government LOSE money, and i bet some people might even move away to a different place bceause of his dumbass drug policy.

Here the crowd that tend to be like that are the stupid bastards that have never even been outside their own suburban or rural hell hole and don't really want to either. They fucking drive me nuts with their stupid ignorant bullshit :! . These cunts want it both ways really because they want a nice white liberal free Canada under old stevie but still want their ganja. I refuse to have any dealings with that lot because they probably would literally drive me to commit murder if i had to be around them for very long at all.

We should exile their lot to Baffin island or some shit. Maybe then they will realize that climate change is real too :\

Hmmm... it seems so strange to me to imagine a stoner with conservative views. I guess I'm glad I've never met such people.Maybe it's the age difference? Are you guys talking about people over 30? I'm 24

Eeeeep; infrequent stoner, infrequent psychedelic user, mild benzo/opie/amp user, former PD mod here... and I hold relatively conservative views. I'm a country boy though and I think that cultural upbringing has something to do with it.

However I vehemently oppose their drug and environmental policy. In that sense I'm like David Suzuki; he himself has professed conservative views; conserving of the environment. I'm also a libertarian; personal freedom is paramount to me. It's just that right now the options are shit.

I'm 23, and a science student.

*Prepares for the BL lynchmob*

I just wanted to add that conservatism in Canada is very different than conservatism in America. Republicans are seriously fucked. Compared to american republicans the canadian conservatives are like the democrats.

I feel I should also remind everyone that the immigrant majority and liberal stronghold known as the GTA even went Conservative this time. It's all a matter of the options being shit. In the 3 elections since legal age, this is my first time going blue.

There's a difference between between capital C Conservative and small c conservative :) [but I don't remember what it is?]

oh yeah. that's the difference.

in that case, you're conservative, I take it? The only Conservatives I know hate drug use; even the ones who use drugs. Most Conservatives are Christianized shame-filled sad puppies. But I agree in some cases, like maybe Toronto not so long ago, they're best option in terms of government. But their core ideology is just too intolerant and stone-faced for my liking.

Ya, I'm conservative. The gun registry was an issue for me, wickedly high taxes was another, NDP would love to spend the bank and make us bomb into debt. I guess my ideal political party is a Conservative-NDP hybrid with only the good parts of both parties used.

Also don't forget, after 2 minority Conservative governments with the highly likely possibility of a 3rd, and another election not long after, made a lot of people vote Conservative to give them the majority, let them do their thing, if they shoot themselves in the foot, they'll be done.

And agreed on the Christian fundamentalist horseshit, I haven't seen much of that manifested though. I think they know the majority of Canadians don't want that and if they try to implement it they'll be toast.

And yeah, I like drug use, fun-inducingly, stress relievingly, moderately, and responsibly. ;)

Man, this thread brings out the worms; what I mean by that is, for those with drug problems the solution is not imprisonment but treatment (cost neutral and far more fair and effective). And prevention is all about proper drug education. The teeny tiny Health class unit about drugs in high school was horseshit; no useful information and as I later found out was mostly propaganda.. and that was under a Liberal government (see what I'm sayin').

I agree on everything you're saying, including the Cons-NDP hybrid idea lol. I actually voted NDP; but I truly said, I will either vote Conservative or NDP. both parties at least have a platform. as far as I could tell, the Liberals don't. they're done. it's about time, they got boring after Jean Chretien and his funny face expired.

But truly, I think the country should be run by Doctor Fu Manchu.

The only thing i agree with the cons on is scraping the stupid gun registry. If i wanna go buy a gun i will and those hippies can shove a flower up their arse :p . I hate both the left and right in Canada to be honest.

I agree with their gun thingy and also with their hard on crime thingy. but sadly i doubt they will even do anything about the latter except on non-violent crimes like hippyism i.e. potheadedness. pathetic really.

i vote to crucify stephen harper. let's see how much he likes christ then.

TOTAL war! That's got to be even better than a normal war! God Damn! :D
Lol. Nobody really wants "total war". As ridiculous as the expression sounds, it does have some meaning to it and making it brief you could say a total war aims at the complete eradication of a problem by ALL means, the goal of eradication gains first and foremost priority to the country. It's absurd using the expression for the war on drugs for a number of very obvious reasons. :D

That being said, Joseph Goebbels (our former German minister of rubbishry and brain washing during the 3rd Reich) invented the expression and it's not exactly soothing to hear another gouvernment talk in NS lingo lol.

Yeah I figured that's what they meant, just taking the piss. Didn't know that about Goebbels though.
