an acetone wash should be fairly easy to do with a cup, a small amount of pure acetone and a coffee filter.
The idea, for anyone un-chem savvy is that meth-hcl is not soluble in acetone, whilst most cuts are. Therefore leaving you with "pure' meth-hcl. Leftwing seemed to be referring to to an A/B (acid/base) extraction/recrystalisation.
Also, base should refer to 'freebase' also meaning the product should be fairly insoluble in water - i know this is rarely the case... so blau

Its better to wash/recrystallize meth crystals with a pure form of hexane. Ive never heard of anyone washing meth with acetone altho it could be done im not sure bout the end result tho.

Quick question regarding acetone washes if i may? I recall seeing somewhere you should "dry" the acetone with magnesium sulphate (baked epsom salts?) first to remove any water (given store bought acetone isn't going to be 100% pure and some meth/cocaine/whatever would still dissolve in it). Any truth to this and if so are there any specifics, hints, techniques etc for doing so?
I know I should UTFSE but it might be of relevance to this thread too?

Yes, the acetone should be dry. Details have been posted many times, best to utfse and post the relevant link/s

yeah you're all correct there... I've seen basic acetone washes performed with good results without lets say "dry acetone" although the label said 99%+ acetone on the can..
simply using the small shot glass or whatever , putting some acetone in the bottom, throwing the meth in a bit of coffee filter and then swirling it around then drying it out after being the most basic methods...

That was my post. Dump magnesium sulphate on a baking tray and bake on 240 celcius for 2-3 hours then dump it into the acetone and mix and drain. Now u will have pure 99.9% acetone.
