EMD Can we get a freakin' TECHNO thread or what?

nice. marionette's a decent tune. the beyer remix is much better though

forgot about mathew johnson. Hawtin played Decompression at demf one year and the place just exploded. stupid sick tune. it's about 4 minutes longer than it needed to be, but still good.

Here's some pretty dope techy minimal business though:

skip the first track, but the rest is just plain awesome.

I do like the Beyer remix but there's something so dreamy about the original Marionette it reminds me of waves on a shore the way it ebbs and flows. And Decompression is such a class tune.

GreatfulHead you did talk a lot of shit just then.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMS3gqc7eRs Clark Growls Gaden... He's on Warp records I know this isn't really techno but James Holden played it and I have no idea what Genre it would be considered like ambient or I hate to say it 'IDM' it's such a class tune though.

And Toast I just listened to the mix you posted and this is an absolutely corking track, the third one in the mix
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SDtnhP0OoY BoomCardona & Smokers Area - The Game (Truati & Victor Ruiz Remix).... bit after 4.20 is absolutely perfect.

yep, it's a monster. I posted a mix in the EMD social thread a little while ago that has a bunch of stuff like that towards the end.

victor ruiz has a ton of good shit. check him on BP.

Good choice bfc, check out the Dustin Zahn ones too when you get a chance.

Also, this is a great blog for Midwest techno, they've got podcasts up once every 1-2 weeks.
My favorite would have to be from DJ Hyperactive here: http://blackmpls.com/blog/?p=839

Thomas Fehlmann of the orb is in town (w/Shen(Noah Pred) and Lusine). I may have to go check that show out :).

Anyone seen Fehlmann recently? How's his techno these days? I've been kind of out of the loop.

There's a night on here on Friday Adam Beyer, Cari Lekebuch and Regis, I'm not too clued up on Lekebuch can any of you recommend any tracks or sets?

not crazy about Lekebusch. Beyer was my favourite dj for the longest time, but the last couple times I saw him were disappointing.

Yeah I saw Beyer at The Warehouse Project in October and he was literally garbage but then I saw him at Awakenings in February and he was unreal I've come to the conclusion that every DJ plays better techno on continental Europe then when they come to the UK. But sometimes I ruin my own night by being overly critical of DJ's instead of enjoying myself.

both times I saw beyer in Toronto he was unreal. saw him twice in Miami at conference last year and he was kinda blah both times. saw him in SF one year too which was decent but nothing to write home about.

I hate this. I do the same damn thing, and I really wish I didn't. as soon as i got into DJing myself, I stopped having as much fun at parties since I was too focused on the music and not focused enough on getting hyphy.

I found myself really pissed off last time I saw Dave Clarke because everyone recognised too many of the tracks he was playing. I wanted him to show us some new shit but he played a set that I could have played in my bedroom. Now I just go with the intention of having a good time with my mates instead of scrutinising the DJ too much.
