EMD Can we get a freakin' TECHNO thread or what?

^He's deep techno? it sounds soo similar to ny style deep house. in fact, I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between that and deep house.

actually, the last track sounds more like techno.

any how, I love it!

Yeah I would definitely describe Vince Watson as 'deep techno'. I think the main difference between 'deep house' and 'deep techno' is that house beats are generally funkier than techno beats. Techno beats feel a bit 'flatter' imo - there's a bit less life to them. Techno also tends to make more use of hi hats and cymbals, whereas house is mostly just about the kick and the snare.

Anyway - I guess I'm showing my true colours as a nerd by rambling on about genre definitions :) At the end of the day, good music is good music :) I do tend to like stuff that's deep though - whether it's house, techno, electro, breaks, trance, drum n bass, ambient, or whatever.

I get how people mgiht enjoy listening to this at home. not my thing, but whatever. but at a party? It is really just beyond me how anyone would rather have this music than slamming dance tunes.

When I'm at a party, I don't just want music that makes me dance my ass off. I also want music that makes me feel emotional, and that (for me) requires some warm synth sounds and some nice melodies.

You also have to remember that all dance music sounds more bangin in a club - those Vince Watson kick drums will thump just as hard over a club sound system as the kick drums in a DJ Rush set - Vince Watson just has some melodies too :)

Check out these clips - hopefully they'll demonstrate that 'deep' and 'bangin' aren't necessarily mutually exclusive:

Vince Watson live in Valencia

Vince Watson live in Melbourne - the track he plays in this clip is 'Rendezvous'

Vince Watson live in Japan

Cool. You must direct me to more music like Vince Watson. I'm loving his style, especially Rendezvous.

To be honest, I had barely heard of Vince Watson up until 6 months ago. Then I heard 'Rendezvous', and was really impressed - it's still my favourite track of his.

As for similar music..........hmmmmmmmmm..............I know a lot of great deep techno, but nothing quite as organic-sounding as Rendezvous - that piano and flute are so lush!

I'd definitely recommend Funk D'Void though. Check out:

Vince Watson - A Very Different World (Funk D'Void Epic remix)

Funk D'Void - Emotional Content

Beroshima - Horizon (Funk D'Void's Hope mix)

Funk D'Void - Nineteen Ninety Two

E-Dancer - Banjo (Funk D'Void remix)

Francois Dubois (aka Funk D'Void) - I Try

Funk D'Void & Phil Kieran - White Light

big fan of some of capriati's stuff from a couple years ago. he's gotten really boring since then. this track is no exception. carl cox re-rub is ok. it's really just a cash grab though.

To me the Carl Cox remix is just tech house bullshit that everyone is putting out now. Do you mind me asking what country you come from? It's just that in England decent techno nights are few and far between now with everybody jumping on Minimal and then Tech-House so to hear a decent techno track like the Capriati remix is quite refreshing.

can't make my mind up about khainz. His tunes are a bit on the boring side on the home system, but I get the sense that there's more to them when you hear them on a big system. they just feel like they might have that late night rumble to them. thoughts?

I like the second one much more than the first;

Listened to this for the first time in a while, I love this track...

^ CLASSIC tune.

Dropped both the tracks I posted above on Saturday, to enormous success.

edit: it was this one I dropped, not the first one I posted. Both sounded just sick. nothing like dark, rumbly techno in a packed smaller venue with nothing but black lights and open flames.
