EMD Can we get a freakin' TECHNO thread or what?

lol, totally. hey I tried to kibosh the trance break earlier!

anyway, corsten has never really dabbled in techno, but in terms of trance, holden has never done anything that even TOUCHES corsten's best work. exhale? come on. he actually wrote two tracks called exhale, one as system f with van buuren and the other as ferry corsten on the flip of right of way. all are absolutely ridiculous tunes.

anyway, show me a holden track that is better than either of these in terms of sheer kickass and I'll shut up.

Its not that im nuts its that you dont know what your talking about. I got into Electronic music as a kid through trance and I did like Corsten then. But the same type of production with a different synth melody over the top soon got old. I grew out of it.

I remember that Exhale tune because I was tring to track down a tune I heard in a set and it was Exhale by Ferry corsten. When I got it and listend to it I was like 'what the fuck is this shit'. Turns out it was the Sander Klinenberg mix of it I was after. Corsten didnt even make the best version of that tune.

This was 8ish years ago. Thats around the time Holden started releasing stuff. It wasnt half as complicated music as what he makes now but still way ahead of Corsten. Have a listen to how much is actualy goin on with the sounds and beats in Holden's and Border Community tracks that I posted above and the ones I post here. Theyre not the same formulatic trance sound over and over again are they?

That second Corsten tune you put up there reminds me of a waterd down version of Vitalic's La Rock, a tune that firmly belongs in this thread.

that vitalic track is MAJOR ripoff of the corsten tune. If I were ferry (and didn't have millions of dollars and any girl I wanted any time I wanted), I would be pissed. and you think the Corsten track sounds watered compared to the vitalic one?! puuuuu-leeeez!

as for the sander kleinenberg remix, I agree, it's a better track. I have the record somewhere in the archives, I couldn't remember who did the remix. it's a completely different tune though. and sure, the holden tracks aren't as formulaic. they aren't as good either. complexity does not a great track make.

anyway, like whatever music you want. i'm through arguing with you. and btw, those holden tracks you posted are boring as fuck

"la rock" is from 2001, "right of way" is from 2004...
which one is the rip-off, again?

pwnd
this sophomoric, it's either good or bad ideology is making this thread boring, not those Holden tracks.

yeah, definitely not a fan. speedy j is what mhonolink would be if mhonolink weren't aweome. his tracks never go anywhere and the lack the freshness in mhonolink's stuff. j puts me right to sleep. the full length he did on novamute had a few decent tunes, but overall I just find him a bit boring.

there's a bunch stuff I don't like that'll make you whip out that little blue emoticon. joel mull? pass (**ducks**). liebing? skip it. in fact, I don't really go for any of that german stuff. well, with the OBVIOUS exception of Lutzenkirchen. that guy writes a decent track every couple of days. idk how he does it.

i will add the little blue emoticon for speedy j (um...patterns!), joel mull (anything on his label inside was generally some of the best driving yet funky yet deep stuff EVER) AND liebing (stigmata series...must haves). :(

LOL.

my list of techno i love is FAR too long. suffice it to say, i like good stuff, from percussive to funky to minimal (and when i say minimal, i mean rob hood, dbx minimal) to dubby to detroity.

there is good stuff to be found in all the little nooks and crannies.

most of the clinical, sterile mnml of today makes me yawn, but occasionally there is a decent track to be found in there if you are willing to dig.

great. go start an electro thread and stay out of this one.

one would do well to remember that many of the great techno artists have been hitting it on the electro (and i DO NOT mean "electro house") tip for ages: the advent, cari lekebusch, bryan zentz, UR, hell even umek (back in his nastier days), just to name a handfull.

and to address what some people were saying earlier, none of us have to LIKE what the other likes, that's no big deal. but dismissiveness is silly and rude and ultimately self-defeating. let's keep it civil and talk about good musics, please?

Is that you Ferry?

Vitalic - La Rock, 2005
Ferry Corsten - Right of Way, 2004

anything else?

Well now that you mention it...
Notice the date of release of the 2Many DJs mix, see the 4th last track on there.

toa$t, you definitely are an odd one. you don't like house, you like dark aggressive techno and Ferry Corsten!?!?
