I reckon youre wrong about getting hit on. Overall anyway. I cant speak for your exp or womens. Yes its often a nightclub type venue.. But historically that was one aspect of the huge frequency change when rave music hit. Speaking for the uk anyway. Ppl were there to DANCE. im male but fwiw ive never sensed/felt that at gigs ive been to..but im always lost for the music so not the best source.. It just, doesnt make sense in that energy, that environment. Festivals, totally diff story. The big ones esp..bring out an A-Z of dodgy fucks. But underground techno, underground house..?? Just seek the underground generally to detour around that rubbish.

ok. techno started in detroit. check out derrick may, kevin sanderson, juan atkins, the belleville three. you can argue that kraftwerk "invented" techno, but it all really started with those three guys. go to discogs and go to their bios and from there click onto their pseudonyms and group names and check out the labels they recorded for. there you will find a whole world of techno and before it got diluted.

underground resistance and it's members also still stay true.

Of course there is a ballroom section! And that's brilliant because that's a perfect way to think of underground dancefloor, a ballroom for people to dance
