can one explain mexican skinheads to me?

"Hispanic or Latino" is "a person of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin, regardless of race". just for the record

so a white hispanic person can easily be a neo-nazi, and they do exist. look at south american countries like Chile and Argentina harboring Nazis after the war.

a mexican skinhead could be someone who identifies with their spanish origin, not their native american one. there are a lot of israeli and slavic skinheads who have jewish blood too; they identify with the non-jewish side.

this thread reminds me of a smart local friend who, like most north americans, knows less about the world and culture than a Siberian peasant, after we watched the Borat movie I mentioned Sacha Cohen was Jewish and my friend said "but I thought he was British". 8o

i think out here the whole mexican black problem stems from decades of prison gang rivalries, which carried to the streets as guys finished their time and rejoined the gangs on the outside.

skinheads are pro-white so a mexican skinhead cannot exist

bullshit. you mean naziskins/boneheads - that hasnt got to do alot with skinheads. there are black skinheads, too....
skinheads used to listen to ska & reggea...

edit: skinhead music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5w8zV9Uoos

DONT confuse skins with fascist boneheads, please. (in the sake of your own health, too....)
the history of the skinheads is a bit more complicated...

Good point Brainbug. I think a lot of people don't realize that skinheads actually started in the UK. The racist skinhead stereotype is a mostly American creation.

edit- Check the history section here

okay you're talking about purely the style... but to most the word skinhead means neo-nazi.

its semantics, but words do take on new meaning as time passes and history rewrites itself. right?

Of course. That style is just that though, a style. Having a shaved head and dressing the part doesn't necessarily mean you're a racist though. That all I'm saying. Just like seeing a Mexican with a shaved head doesn't necessarily mean he's a skinhead.

i guess, but thats like people who say dressing like a nazi for halloween or as a prank doesnt make them a real nazi. sure, but it might make you black and blue if some feisty minorities see you, LOL.

I see your point but, there's a bit of a difference between a shaved head with boots and the same with swastikas and SS patches.

The wikipedia article is slightly wrong - skinheads originated in Jamaica, then made its way to the UK, rather than it originating in the UK.

I really never thought the "original skinheads" [before being "Nazified", I guess] could be from Jamaica. Amazing and oh so wondrous of worlds, you have shown me yet again how little I know.

There were, or are, plenty of racist skins in the UK, but the movement came from Jamaican culture and was originally non-racist. With the rise of the racist skins, you had groups like SHARP (Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice) formed in response.

That's interesting. Can you post a source for this info? Just curious

TBH, I don't have a source for that - however I feel like with enough searching you'll be able to find the truth yourself. While watching a documentary on Reggae and Ska I heard that the skinhead movement originated in Jamaican whites, then moved its way to the UK. However it may be, the UK ultimately popularized it, making it what it is today, whether it originated in the UK or Jamaica.

im assuming at this point, most "potental skinheads" people from jamaica [and most from the UK] arent too proud the "skinhead movement" originated with them, they have probably totally cut themselve off from it. i.e. disowned it. [just like i doubt you'll meet many kids named Adolf born in germany post WW2 :)]
