Can I use alcohol to get through pregabalin/Lyrica withdrawal

Looking back through this thread OP was going through some serious withdrawals from pregabalin. I notice a few and that desperate depression and feeling there is no point because of failures stands out big time. These symptoms are super magnified when coming off pregab. I can certainly see why suicidal tendencies rise pregabalin use/misuse and sudden cesation follows. Even interdose WDs causes these terrible feelings for many (including myself). This is why I keep pregab use to a minimum as I have never really had suicidal ideation until this drug was introduced into my life. I mean, I get ups and downs like everyone but this drug can be quite the opponent to reason out where these super lows come from when they appear even when we "know" that these symptoms are common from pregabalin (and other drugs).
So yeah I am hoping that she drops back by at some point. Been several months. Hope also that she had some medical supervision eventually.

I realize this is an old thread, just saw it this morning the first time and the story touched me quite a bit, mine isn't as drastic but shares similarities. Hope she's doing well.

On topic, I would wonder what the withdrawal from such high dose pregabalin is like, as well as what beneficial effects one might get. For me pregabalin stopped working completely soon after I began using high dosages (900+mg) to the point of it being basically inert. Pretty much overshoot it with 2g and ended up having something like a grand mal seizure. But based on literature and my own experiences I suspect high dose of pregabalin possibly having LESS withdrawal than low doses because of high doses blocking the GLT-1 glutamate reuptake transporter which means more glutamate, while low doses increase an enzyme which converts glutamate to GABA so net effect more GABA, and this is what fuels the withdrawal. When you have more GABA and more glutamate - desensitizing its autoreceptors in consequence - these two effects work against each other. Anecdotes reporting dissociative effects from high doses of gabapentins imo support this suspection.

But for sure, don't do alcohol for pregab withdrawal, this is a recipe for trouble. IF I'm wrong and there are more factors involved (which is pretty possible, specially at such an extreme dose like 10g) then gabapentin will be too less. Best imo would be to titrate down on the pregabalin until you feel ok at 1-2g/d and then stop. I got no abstinence at all from this level, but it's of course just one anecdotal report and I was using Kratom during the time, which possibly is cross tolerant, at least doesn't it decrease the seizure threshold like alc does. So this might be worth a try as well if one's desperate.
